What are your ‘Top 5 Songs Of The Moment’?

{This UK banning of music videos on Youtube is so annoying! I’ve been hunting this vid down for  too long. But back to your regularly scheduled TGJ-surfing}

The video for Ciara’s Justin Timberlake assisted new single ‘Love Sex Magic’ premiered a few hours ago. I must say, the Diane Martel directed clip is, to put it simply, H-O-T. After a number of false-starts, this song and video has reignited my interest in Ms. Harris’ ‘Fantasy Ride’ project. Great video!
What do you think of the video?

Peep Ciara in the video for Enrique Iglesias’ new single ‘Takin’ Back My Love’, which she features on. As much as I was on the fence about the song, the Ray Kay directed clip has really warmed me to the track. With music video innovation seemingly being something of the past, it’s essential these days for the video to at least capture the essence of the song, which this definitely does. Cici’s looking on-point too. Good stuff.

New Song: LeToya - 'Not Anymore'
LeToya’s brand new Ne-Yo penned single ‘Not Anymore’ premiered literally moments ago over at LeToyaOnline.com (shout out to Ced!). Keeping it entirely real, I can’t say I’m particularly keen on this one, having given it a few listens. The mid-tempo cut does sound like it has grower potential, yet lacks the spark of first single material and lyrically is kinda ‘been there, done that’ territory for the former Destiny’s Child star. Vocally, she sounds great, I must say.
I still hail her 2006 debut as one of the most solid R&B efforts in recent years, so I’m remaining optimistic about what her sophomore set ‘Lady Love’ (due in April 7th – same day as Ciara’s new LP) will be serving up. For her sake (particularly after hearing this), it needs to be the hotness. Anyway, you can listen to ‘Not Anymore’ below

What are your ‘Top 5 Songs Of The Moment’?
Keyshia Cole - 'Playa Cardz Right (ft. 2Pac)'Keyshia Cole announced earlier this year that she had pencilled in an end of year release for her third studio album, which comes just a year after the release of her last ‘Just Like You’. With the album, titled ‘A Different Me’, now slated for a December release, it comes as little surprise that we’re starting to hear what Keyshia will be serving up.
This new track, ‘Playa Cardz Right’, was initially featured on 2Pac’s 2006 collabo LP, yet is being given the single treatment for Keyshia’s release. Though a decent cut, I’m hoping it turns out to be little more than a buzz track – for Keyshia’s sake. With the likes of Beyonce, Ciara and Kanye release their latest efforts in the same window as her, there’s a strong likelihood Keyshia’s record could go largely unnoticed – especially with a lead track like this.

Keri Hilson - 'Slow Dance'Recently, ‘Slow Dance’, a new cut from Keri Hilson’s hotly anticipated album ‘In A Perfect World’ surfaced. Produced by Polow Da Don (and co-written by Justin Timberlake), it comes as no surprise, then, that the song bares slight resemblance to Ciara’s ‘Promise’ – also produced by the Atlanta hit-maker.

Keri really seems to be on to a winner with this album of hers; each track I’ve heard thu far has been top notch – this included.
‘In A Perfect World’ hits stores October 7th.

{Many thanks to everybody and their Mama who forwarded this one along! LOL}

Various Artists - 'Just Stand Up'As previously reported, female music heavy-weights, including Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna and Mariah Carey, came together to record ‘Just Stand Up’, in aid of the ‘Stand Up To Cancer’ campaign. The track itself, which I must say is pretty good, made its debut today on various US radio stations. You can listen to it below, as well as peep the full list of featured artists:

List of featured artists: Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Keyshia Cole, Fergie, Miley Cirus, Ashanti, Natasha Bedingfield, Ciara, Carrie Underwood, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Leona Lewis and Leann Rimes.

Mary J. Blige - 'Supernatural'Some of you may remember ‘Supernatural’; indeed, the track, which surfaced a few months back, is slated to feature on Ciara’s forthcoming LP ‘Fantasy Ride’. Interestingly, Mary J. Blige has put her own spin on the song, which surfaced today. Though Mary’s version is far from poor, it surprisingly doesn’t offer much in the way of improving on the original; if anything, Ciara’s offering (which you can listen to below) is better IMO.

Ciara’s version:

Nelly - 'Long Night (ft. Usher)'Nelly’s forthcoming LP ‘Brass Knuckles’ is set to feature a number of collaborations, including cuts with girlfriend Ashanti, T.I, Chuck D, Ciara, Fergie as well as a host of others. The St. Louis rapper also teams with Usher on ‘Long Night’, which was produced by the latter’s brother JLack. Uninspired and lacking on most fronts, the mid-tempo track kinda left a salty taste in mouth. With Nelly’s last few singles not exactly setting the charts alight, a lot is riding is on the success of this album. For his sake, here’s hoping the record boasts better tracks.

Ciara Gets Conceptual On 'Fantasy Ride'Billboard.com have revealed some very interesting details about Ciara forthcoming studio album ‘Fantasy Ride’:

R&B singer Ciara has slated her third album, “Fantasy Ride,” for a September release via Jive. Rather than one standard CD, the music will be spread across three separately packaged discs, bundled together, each with five to six songs catering to a different theme.

The first disc is called “Groove City” and will contain sensual songs like “Promise,” while the second disc is called “Crunktown” and includes tracks akin to Ciara’s 2004 introductory single, “Goodies.” Finally, the up-tempo “Kingdom of Dance” will showcase Ciara’s house-leaning, freestyle-tinged cuts.

Producer Tricky Stewart, who crafted Rihanna’s “Umbrella,” is co-executive-producing the project along with Ciara. Danja is helming both “Crunktown” and “Kingdom of Dance,” while “Groove City” is led by Tricky and Jasper.

An official single will drop in June, according to the label.

Now that’s what I’m talking about! Despite Ciara being immensely talented, I oft wonder how she’d be able to take it to the next level artistically and leave a lasting impression Ala the Beyonce’s and co etc. This, her latest venture, really seems to be her real ‘evolution’.
