Bruno Mars’ may have fallen three weeks short of dethroning Mariah Carey for longest run at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, but he still has much to celebrate. For, in addition to ‘Uptown Funk’ tying at second place for longest run on the tally’s perch, it now reigns as the song with the longest run in the top 3 of Hot 100 history.
With this week notching its whopping 21st week in the top 3, the tune extends its lead in front of nearest competitors (Santana, Toni Braxton, and Carey) for the title.
Elsewhere on charts, the boys are proving they still run this mutha- as Wiz Khalifa holds tight to the #1 spot for a fourth week and is followed by rapper Fetty Wap‘s ‘Trap Queen.’ The rappers’ reign over the chart comes as the first time in 6 years two emcees have concurrently held the #1 and #2 spot (see: 2009’s ‘Right Round’ by Flo Rida and T.I.‘s ‘Dead & Gone’).
But, if the boys thought they were the only ones celebrating this week, they have another thing coming – just ask Fifth Harmony. The female quintet saw their Kid Ink-assisted single ‘Worth It’ climb 11 spots to #21! An impressive feat as the ladies are the first and only girl group this decade to notch a top 30 hit.
