With an October 18th release set for ‘Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married’, the film’s preview has surfaced. As well as Perry himself, other major names featured in the film include Jill Scott and Janet Jackson.

Judging by the trailer, the film looks like it’s gonna be good. Tyler usually delivers with his films/stage-productions and this looks like it’ll be no different.

Will you be seeing ‘When Did I Get Married’?

Check out the preview above of Nicole Scherzinger’s video for ‘Whatever You Like’. The track is set to be the lead single from Scherzinger’s forthcoming album ‘Her Name Is Nicole’ (due on 16th October). I’m still not sold on the track and find it pretty disappointing considering the hype, however the video looks like it’s going to be on-point. The clip is giving me Beyonce ‘Ring The Alarm’ vibes, yet the behind the scenes-which surfaced several weeks ago- show different set-ups; so I’m guessing they went all out with this vid. Be on the lookout for the videos premiere next week.

What do you think of the preview?

Just letting you all know that I’ll be heading out to LA tomorrow (probably on the plane as you’re reading). So there may be a very brief hiatus with the updates (maximum a day or so). I’m hoping to keep things afloat while I’m abroad, be sure to check back as you usually would 🙂
For those who have been in contact regarding the Jagged Edge interview etc, I’m looking to have that up before the week’s out – as well as Johnta Austin’s interview too. Also, the EA Games give-away is still running – winners and new chances to enter will be announced shortly. There are a lot of great things in the pipeline for the site (some of which I can’t say just yet), so watch this space.

The full/high-quality version of Jennifer Lopez’s new single ‘Hold It, Don’t Drop’ it has finally surfaced; I previewed a clip of the track a few weeks back. After hearing the Midi Mafia produced song in it’s entirety, I still feel it’s sub-par and definitely not the sort of material J.Lo should be putting out if she’s hoping for a successful comeback. At best, it’s listenable, yet it highlights most of what has stunted her recording career in the last couple of years – little substance and poor vocal delivery.

‘The Beyonce Experience’ tour recently hit the Bank Atlantic Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (July 22nd). Check out this performance of fan-favourite ‘Get Me Bodied’; this version favours the BET Awards performance – with the Beyonce re-enacting her ‘spacesuit entrance’ this time dressed as a Bee lol. She did great. Having attended the London show in June (click here to check my review), I would definitely recommend the tour to those who still have a chance to go.

The New York Post is reporting that R&B singer Fantasia will continue to star in the Broadway adaptation of ‘The Color Purple’ until January 2008. After gaining rave reviews from critics for her portrayal of leading character Celie, the shows producers announced today that the 2004 American Idol winner has extended her stay – which was suppose to run through until October this year.
In other Fantasia news, her single ‘When I See You’ spends its third week atop of the Billboard Hot R&B & Hip Hop chart. The song is the singer’s biggest hit to date.
It’s great that her career is again on the up. Genuine talent nowadays is a hard find and artists like Fantasia are rare. More power to her. Can’t wait for her next album.

Your thoughts?
The 2nd single to be lifted from Kelly Rowland’s new album- ‘Ms. Kelly’- has been confirmed as ‘Comeback’. According to Middlechild Promotions, the song has already been sent out to radio stations and will indeed serve as the album’s next offering. The Scott Storch-produced track also won the AOL poll to decide the next single.
Having had the chance to listen to the album, I would have preferred ‘Work’ to be the next single. However, I can see why ‘Come Back’ was chosen; the uptempo club banger is good track with a catchy hook. As long as she brings ‘it’ with the video, then I’m all for it. ‘Ms. Kelly’ is out now in Europe and hits stores in the US on July 3rd.

What do you think of the single choice?
R&B superstar Beyonce has officially been added to list of performers at the 2007 BET Awards. Also confirmed to perform at the event is Beyonce’s fellow Destiny’s Child band-mate Kelly Rowland. The pair join an already star-studded line-up of performers including 50 Cent, T.I. Ciara and Ne-Yo. Comedienne Mo’Nique hosts the awards which will air live on June 26th.
With both Beyonce and Kelly performing, the comparisons will be inevitable. Throw Ciara into the mix and tongues will definitely be wagging. I see Kelly as having the most to prove; hopefully she comes hard with her performance. Generally, I’m really anticipating the show; the line-up is the most impressive it’s been in the last few years.

Which song did you pick?

According to AllHipHop.com, rapper Lil’ Kim has (re)signed with Diddy’s Bad Boy Records. The pint-sized star made her first appearance as a renewed Bad Boy artist during Diddy’s set at Hot 97’s Summer Jam event on June 3rd. This may come as a surprise to some, as the relationship between Kim and Diddy was rumored to be far from great.
I’m not entirely sure if it’s true, but it could be a good thing for Kim. Despite the obvious complications promoting her last LP ‘The Naked Truth’ (due to her prison sentence), Kim’s then-label Atlantic messed up the project with wack video’s and poor promo. Needless to say, the album tanked. Maybe Diddy will do her right with this new deal. Then again, when does Diddy do anyone right? 112, Danity Kane, Cheri Dennis….the list goes on.

Do you think Lil’ Kim is right to sign with Bad Boy?

R&B star Fantasia stopped by the Regis & Kelly show yesterday to perform ‘I’m Here’ from the The Color Purple Broadway production; which she’s currently starring in as the lead character Celie. Check out the performance:

I’m really liking this performance; it seems every time Fantasia sings the song she switches it up and adds something new. The American Idol singer has been getting rave reviews for her performance in The Color Purple Broadway show and this definitely shows why.
