It seems as though what Meghan Trainor is really all about is clocking #1s.
For, after pop superstar Beyonce passed on the female empowerment song ‘All About That Bass,’ Trainor took the tune to the top of the Hot 100 for 8 consecutive weeks. Now, fans looking for the Massachusetts-bred songbird’s album on charts shouldn’t look anywhere but up as she’s currently perched atop the Billboard 200 with her debut ‘Title.’
Besting initial reports of 220,000 first week sales by nearly 20,000, the burgeoning diva saw her first title on the tally zoom to #1 on the wings of 238,000 units sold. This, just days before word had it country pop princess Taylor Swift saw her blockbuster ‘1989’ album edge past the 4 million mark.
If you were wondering when was the last time an album shifted 4 million copies in the U.S. you shouldn’t be surprised to know that it was when Swift did it herself a year ago with ‘Red.’
