After flying the flag for R&B with the single ‘It Won’t Stop‘, Sevyn Streeter continues on in her bid to support the genre by lending a helping hand (and ear) to K. Michelle’s forthcoming album.
Both signed to Atlantic Records, the ladies shared this snap of their time together hours ago, with Michelle revealing that she had enlisted Streeter to help her complete the project, with…
My love @Sevyn came by the studio tonight to support me, and help pick the track listing for my album #AWBAH.
She may profess to be feminist, but the care Beyonce has seemingly taken to avoid some of the movements more difficult issues (violence against women, healthcare, reproductive rights) has seen her branded “feminist-lite” by “Sweet Dreams” singer Annie Lennox.
Much to the delight of Usher US fans, the singer recently announced the North American leg of his new tour ‘The UR Experience’.
European supporters needn’t fret, though. Because the R&B superstar is heading their way in 2015.
Kicking off in France next February, the trek will journey through Germany, Holland, the UK, among others.
The jaunt comes after the singer erased the latest release window for his new album, which at present doesn’t have a confirmed arrival date. And with the American branch of the tour set to commence in December and the Euro run in February, one has to wonder when exactly the LP will drop?
For now, though, check out the newest dates below…
While actress Elise Neal won the role of Gladys Knight in a forthcoming Aaliyah biopic, the ‘Empress of Soul’ made it clear that she wants R&B diva Kelly Rowland to portray her if her own biopic ever comes to light.
But, does Rowland have her sights set on another music monarch?
The ‘Down For Whatever’ diva may be throwing subtle hints that she’s down to portray ‘Queen of Disco’ Donna Summer in a forthcoming film based on Casablanca Records – the label that brought Summer to fame. Stirring fans into a heated frenzy this week when she took to Instagram to upload a snap of her rocking a hairdo inspired by the ‘Hot Stuff’ singer, her loyal #RowlandStones almost unanimously urged her to pursue the role.
Kelly has not made it clear that she is interested, but what is clear is that the film is happening (as we reported here) and is set to be led by Grammy winning star Justin Timberlake.
Is “the dutchess” ready to reign atop charts once more? One listen to her newest single, ‘L.A. Love,’ may give us an answer.
For, nearly a decade after releasing her critically and commercially acclaimed solo debut album, Fergie returns with a global shout out of a tune produced by DJ Mustard. Coming as the first official single from her long-awaited sophomore project, Fergie Ferg’s next release – due in 2015 – will also feature production from Mike Will Made It, Mustard, and more.
But, before we can get our hands on the album in full, we have been blessed with its lead single. Tell us how you feel about it:
Jessie J is an international hot property. Yet, the Brit-bred belter hasn’t forgotten her roots.
A staple on the US’ Billboard charts, the singer is currently back on home-soil to promote her current single ‘Bang Bang’ – which officially hit #1 today – and its parent album ‘Sweet Talker’ (due Oct 13th)
Her latest stop was London’s G-A-Y nightclub last night, where she turned all the way up.

It’s been so long since Christina Milian released music that one could be forgiven for forgetting she sung in the first place. Especially, given the current climate surrounding her personal life.
However, the R&B belle sought to remind the masses by performing the US National Anthem at the LA Dodgers game yesterday.
How did the ‘Dip It Low’ singer fare with the ‘Star Spangled Banner’? Find out below…
Fresh from their surprise performance at the Global Citizen Festival in New York last night, Beyonce and Jay Z caught up with fellow music royals Alicia Keys and hitmaking hubby Swizz Beatz.
The Carters and The Deans have quite the history together. Beyond being close friends, pregnant Keys collaborated with Jay on ‘Empire State Of Mind’, while Swizz has crafted many of Jigga’s big hits. As for Bey and Alicia, there’s that ‘Put It In A Love Song’ collaboration. But, let’s not delve into that.
This week, From The Vault journeys back to 1998 when Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey joined forces on inspirational track ‘When You Believe’.
After the media had portrayed them as arch-enemies for the most part of the 90’s, it came as a monumental surprise when news arose of a possible collaboration between the two larger-than-life songstresses. Indeed, what many Pop-enthusiasts had wished for – and others secretly dreaded – was happening: the vocal wonders were putting their alleged rivalry aside for one special song.
Masterminded by Babyface and Stephen Schwartz, ‘Believe’ was included on the OST for Dreamworks animated movie ‘The Prince Of Egypt’. It was also the first single off Houston’s comeback album ‘My Love Is Your Love’ and was featured on Carey’s compilation album ‘#1’. It peaked at #15 in the US and was a Top 10 smash in numerous European countries such as France (#5), Germany (#8) and the UK (#4).
The video, lensed by Phil Joanou, presented the two stunners in leather black dresses singing the track on a stage to a roaring audience intercut with footage of the two ladies interacting on set as well as projections of powerful scenes of the movie such as Moses’ opening of the Red Sea.
Two of TGJ-favorites, Mimi and Nippy delivered with this offering a statement about the importance of spirituality; they also silenced the critics through a blossoming friendship.
Whether based on solid theories or not, it is a common trait of Pop-Culture pitting artists against each other, especially women. Though we understand the need for such scenarios, we’d be lying if we ever said we weren’t daydreaming of a few specific parings ourselves. Strong and successful females coming together remains a beautiful thing that isn’t as widespread as it should.
Kenya Moore may have struggled to build a likeable brand outside of the Bravo series, but should she need tips on how to do so we’d say she needn’t look any further than her ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta‘ sister NeNe Leakes.
For, after rising to become one of Bravo’s more lucrative characters, securing a recurring role on the hit series ‘Glee‘, working on her magic on the short lived ‘The New Normal’, rocking ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ and waltzing her way to higher celebrity ground on ‘Dancing with the Stars‘, Leakes is now being considered for the “lead role” on E!’s ‘Fashion Police.’
Jay Z and Beyonce may have wrapped their blockbuster ‘On The Run Tour’, yet the power couple again connected on staged for a worthwhile cause last night in New York.
Jigga was tapped to perform in Central Park at the ‘Global Citizen Festival‘, a charitable concert which seeks to promote the goal of ending world poverty by 2030.
While rocking the stage, the Roc Nation mogul surprised fans by bringing out his wife to perform ‘Holy Grail’ and ‘Forever/Young/Halo’.
