Dwayne Johnson may be Hollywood’s most bankable box office star, but that hasn’t quelled his ambition.

For, he’s teamed with NBC to bring his life story to screens in the form of new sitcom ‘Young Rock.’

Aptly titled, the show (which Johnson narrates) is based on his humble beginnings and journey as a pro-wrestler.

Set to premiere on February 16 the first look trailer has been unleashed.

Here’s good news for ‘Good Days’; the latest single from R&B diva SZA.

While her comeback tune, ‘Hit Different,’ didn’t exactly prove itself the hit needed to amplify buzz for her long-awaited sophomore album, the tune’s successor – ‘Good Days’ – is definitely a hitting (the charts) differently.

As if blasting to the top of Spotify and real-time R&B sales tallies wasn’t enough (as we reported here), the song cracked the Hot 100’s top 40 last week, marking the eighth visit of her career to the chart region.

This week, the song’s cracked the top 30 thanks to a 15-spot leap credited to a handsome mix of digital downloads, airplay at R&B radio, and streams.

Juice WRLD and Young Thug‘s long-awaited collaboration has finally arrived.

Fans first got a taste of the song in 2020, a month after Juice’s untimely death. Throughout the remainder of the year, there were a few more leaks. However, the official song and video have now arrived.

Directed by Cole Bennett, the visual is seemingly inspired by Will Smith and Martin Lawrence‘s characters in the ‘Bad Boys’ franchise.

Complete with trippy scenes and a fiery finale, the video is complete 90s nostalgia.

The song follows the other posthumous releases from the late rapper such as: ‘Real Shit’ with Benny Blanco and ‘Smile’ with The Weeknd.

Cardi B has teamed up with Facebook for a new show named ‘Cardi Tries _____.’

The series (which is executive produced by the star alongside Jesse Collins) sees her trying her hand at new skills outside of her Hip-Hop rooting. From lacing up to become a ballerina, firefighter, car racer, teacher, and more.

She won’t be alone, as notable names and faces pop up to help her achieve her goals.

Episode 4 is here and sees Cardi learn how to become a sushi chef with a little help from Vallerie Archer.

In sweet news for fans of ‘Queen Sugar,’ OWN has announced that the popular drama has been renewed for a sixth season.

The development is of particular note because the commitment comes before the premiere of the Ava DuVernay show’s hotly anticipated fifth season – which premieres February 16.

Widely praised for its potently layered portrayal of an African-American family in the Deep South, the series follows the complicated lives of the Bordelon clan.

Led by stars Kofi Siriboe, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, Bianca Lawson, and Rutina Wesley, ‘Sugar’ has also found favor for its purposeful use of female directors. Indeed, season five is entirely helmed three filmmakers: producing director Lauren Wolkstein, Lisa France and Cierra Glaude.

Rihanna is no stranger to covers and kicks off 2021 a’front of the January/February issue of Essence Magazine.

The singer/entrepreneur is no stranger to firsts either. Which is exactly what the stunning spread is.

Because, for the first time in the publication’s 50 year history, the much lauded  Lorna Simpson was commissioned to interpret modern-day beauty in collaboration with RiRi.

‘Of Earth & Sky’ is the end product.

It’s billed as an original photographic collages – comprised of the cover shot and 12-page portfolio. 

On working with Rih, multi-award winner Simpson said:

“[Collaborating] with Rihanna and ESSENCE magazine is quite incredible. As an artist, I’m able to deliver these unusual images of someone who is so well-known and so recognizable… It’s an amazing opportunity.”

The Bajan superstar – who just launched her Fenty Skin line globally – concurred, adding. “It’s a natural trifecta,” she said. “It’s like magic.

Though hot on the promo trail for Black Eyed Peas‘ latest single, ‘Girl Like Me’ (featuring Shakira), Will.I.Am – the group’s frontman – is redirecting his attention to philanthropic efforts, namely causes supported by his i.am Angel Foundation.

The nonprofit organization already earned praise for the funds its raised for STEM education programs and robotics clubs for over 1,200 American grade school students, but now he’s asking fans to help him raise funds for children who cannot afford proper education.

Taking to press, a rep for the i. Am Angel Foundation said:

“2020 showed the world how dire things really are when these basic things are taken away. Some of the best and brightest young minds are being set back by a double whammy – long-standing systemic issues, multiplied by a pandemic that disproportionately hurts communities of color.”

To highlight the need, the famed singer-songwriter-producer (sans The Peas) unveiled a music video for the song ‘American Dream.’
