Hudson To Make Comeback At The Superbowl Nearly five months after the horrific murder of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew, the singer is set to make her first public appearance at next month’s Superbowl, performing the US national anthem at the event:

NEW YORK (AP) — Jennifer Hudson is using pop culture’s grandest stage — the Super Bowl — to make her return to the spotlight following the slayings of her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed Wednesday that Hudson will sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl in Tampa, Fla., on Feb. 1. E! News first reported Tuesday that Hudson would perform.

Hudson hasn’t made a public appearance since her 57-year-old mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson; 29-year-old brother Jason Hudson; and 7-year-old nephew Julian King were slain in Chicago in October. Her estranged brother-in-law has been charged in the killings.

Hudson, who had released her self-titled debut album shortly before the killings, is also scheduled to sing at the Grammys’ MusiCares event in Los Angeles a few days later. She is nominated for four awards at the Feb. 8 Grammy Awards. {Source}

It’ll be great to see Jennifer back doing what she does me.

Hudson Murder Suspect To Be ChargedA month after the killings of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew, prime suspect William Balfour – the estranged ex of Jennifer’s sister Julia – has been arrested and will be charged with their murders:

CHICAGO (Reuters) – The estranged brother-in-law of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson was arrested and will be charged with the October slayings of three of her relatives, police said on Monday.

“We have obtained an arrest warrant for William Balfour. He was released to Chicago detectives,” Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Monique Bond said, adding that Balfour would be charged with three counts of murder.

Balfour, 27, who had been married to Hudson’s sister Julia, was questioned after the slayings but not charged. He was imprisoned for violating his parole on a previous attempted murder conviction, and was scheduled to have a hearing on Wednesday.

Bond would not give details about what evidence led police to charge Balfour for the shooting deaths of Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, 57, brother, Jason Hudson, 29, and 7-year-old nephew, Julian King.

Donerson and Jason Hudson were found shot to death on October 24 in Donerson’s South Side home. Four days later, King’s body was found in a stolen sport utility vehicle parked on the city’s West Side. A handgun used in the slayings was found nearby.

The Chicago Tribune reported investigators had evidence that Balfour had a gun matching the weapon. {Source}

Here’s hoping some good comes out of this terrible situation.

Jennifer Kisses Mother Goodbye At Funeral A private funeral service for the murdered family of Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson was held in Chicago yesterday. Check out the report via People.com below:

Jennifer Hudson kissed her mother goodbye during a heartfelt private service for her slain family members in Chicago on Monday.

The Oscar-winning actress spent a few moments at the caskets of her brother and nephew, and gently touched the body of her mother before leaning down to kiss her, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Toward the end of the service, American Idol’s season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino sang a rousing rendition of the gospel classic “Your Grace and Mercy.” During the song, she walked into the aisle where she took Hudson’s hand and sang directly to her.

The Reverend Jesse Jackson and Chicago Mayor Richard Daley both spoke at the service. After the funeral, a horse-drawn carriage led the procession to the cemetery.

The private service comes a day after a public service was held for Darnell Donerson, 57, Jason Hudson, 29, and Julian King, 7, at the Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist Church near their Chicago home.

Police discovered the bodies of Hudson’s mother and brother on Oct. 24, and her nephew’s three days later.

Though no one has been charged, police have classified Jennifer’s brother-in-law, William Balfour, as “a person of interest.”

The Hudson family members will be buried at Oak Woods Cemetery on the South Side of Chicago.

It is also being reported that many of Jennifer’s well known friends came out to pay their respects to the Hudson family including Oprah Winfrey, Missy Elliott, Queen Latifah and Usher.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Jennifer and her family at this time.

Confirmed: Body Found Is Hudson NephewThe news we were all dreading has been confirmed: the child’s body found in an abandoned white SUV has been confirmed as that of Julian King – the 7 year old nephew of Jennifer Hudson. See the full report via Fox News below:

CHICAGO — Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson’s 7-year-old nephew was found dead in the back of an SUV on Monday, ending a frantic search that began after the shooting deaths of her mother and brother three days earlier.

The singer and actress was among seven family members and close friends who cried and held hands as they identified Julian King’s body from a live image on a television screen at the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office Monday afternoon.

Chicago police spokeswoman Monique Bond said the boy, like his grandmother and uncle, had been shot. The medical examiner’s office planned a Tuesday autopsy.

Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis said a motive remained unclear Monday but added, “It wasn’t a case of a stranger-type homicide.”

Police have characterized the slayings as “domestic related” and authorities have been questioning Julian’s stepfather, who has been estranged from the boy’s mother and is being held on a parole violation. No one has been charged in the slayings.

Julian’s body was found shortly after 7 a.m. in the rear seat of the SUV, which matched the one mentioned in an Amber Alert for the boy and was parked on the street in a neighborhood of brownstone homes and apartment buildings.

The vehicle was about 10 miles from the house where the other victims were found, which was where Julian lived and where Hudson grew up.

Hudson had offered $100,000 Sunday for information leading to the safe return of her nephew, the son of her sister, Julia Hudson. Hudson’s publicist did not immediately return calls and e-mail messages Monday.

“Miss Hudson wanted to request privacy,” Cook County spokesman Sean Howard said after the family left the medical examiner’s office. “This is a very trying time for her and her family.”

Hudson’s aunt, Dorothy Hudson, said the Chicago funeral home she owns with her husband will handle arrangements for the family, but details were pending.

“We’re just sad. We’re going through this stage where we’re just sad and in shock,” Dorothy Hudson said.

The Amber Alert had listed William Balfour, the estranged husband of Julia Hudson, as a suspect in a “double homicide investigation.”

We continue to hold the Hudson family in a our prayers during this unquestionably painful time.

DEVELOPING:

Authorities say they’ve found the body of a young black boy in an SUV in the city’s West Side, but there is no confirmation that the development is related to the search for Jennifer Hudson’s missing nephew.

MyFOXChicago is reporting that police located the SUV, which is believed to be the getaway vehicle driven by William Balfour, a suspect in the murders of the family members of Oscar-winning actress and singer Hudson.

While Chicago police have not yet confirmed whether the vehicle is in fact the white Chevy Suburban that police have been searching for, MyFOXChicago is reporting that the license plates match the Amber Alert issued after Hudson’s 7-year-old nephew Julian King was reported missing after the murders Friday.

The vehicle was reportedly located 13 miles northwest of the Hudson home and was removed by a tow truck from the street Monday morning.

Balfour was named in as a potential suspect Friday in the shooting deaths of Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donerson, 57, and older brother Jason Hudson, 29. The FBI is working on the case with local authorities.

Balfour was married to Hudson’s sister, Julia, for several years but they were separated, his mother, Michele Balfour said. She said Donerson had ordered him to move out of the family’s home last winter.

On Sunday, Hudson, whose single “Spotlight” is number one on the Billboard R&B charts, offered a $100,000 reward for the safe return of King.

This is a developing story. {Source}

This is really beyond terrible. I have no words. Sad.

Hudson's Debut Due In September According to Billboard, Jennifer Hudson’s long-awaited debut album will be released on September 30th via Arista.
Granted it’s commendable that they didn’t rush the album out to capitalize on her Oscar success, this date really has to stick this time, so as for people not to lose interest. What’s more, the longer it’s held back, the higher the expectations – something that may count against her. Here’s hoping she delivers with this album.
In related news, industry veteran Clive Davis – the man behind Whitney Houston’s success and more recently Jennifer Hudson and Leona – has been replaced as chairman over at Sony BMG (the parent label of J Records etc). Davis has been appointed a creative role in another part of the company (click here to read the full story). I wonder what implications this may have for Jennifer’s project – considering Davis has been overseeing it since signing the ‘Dreamgirls’ star in 2006?

Hudson Joins Perry's 'The Family That Preys' Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson has joined the cast of Tyler Perry’s forthcoming movie ‘The Family That Preys.’ The drama focuses on ‘two families from different sides of the tracks that become intimately involved in love and business.’ Perry is, both, writing and producing the movie, himself, for Lionsgate. ‘Preys” will be Perry’s sixth for Lionsgate, following the last year’s box office hit ‘Why Did I Get Married?’ and ‘Meet the Browns.’ – due March. He’s expected to follow ‘Preys’ with ‘Madea Goes to Jail.’

Hudson has been working steadily since her ‘Dreamgirls’ breakthrough. She’s finished work on ‘Winged Creatures’ and the ‘Sex and the City’ movie and she was recently cast in a an adaptation of the novel .The Secret Life of Bees.’ {Source}

Jennifer Hudson has been named Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards. I’m really really happy for this chick as it is well deserved. Hopefully this will be the springboard for greater success in the future.
More Oscar news tomorrow; it’s almost 4.00am over here in London and I gotta get some sleep!
Season 3 American Idol winner Fantasia will be making an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show. Scheduled for sometime later this month, lets hope Tasia’s appearance helps the sales of her self-titled latest album. Released this past December, Soundscan shows it to have only sold 285,000 copies in total. Not good, especially when it was one of the better albums released last year.
In Billboard chart news, Nelly Furtado has scored her 2nd #1 single on the Hot 100 Chart- ending Beyonce’s 10 week reign with Irreplaceable. Her single Say It Right jumps #2-#1 this week. Congratulations to both of them; Nelly Furtado was largely considered a one-hit wonder this time last year and people been doubting Beyonce – me included.
Whilst Jennifer Hudson continues to garner praise for her role in the Dreamgirls movie, it has just been announced that the original Effie (from the Broadway show) – Jennifer Holiday will be performing the song she made famous ‘And I Am Telling You’ on E!’s Oscar Pre-Show. I personally can’t wait for this, she is a vocal power-house and tears it down each time she performs the song. Be sure to check it out.

Chris Brown is back! The singer/songwriter’s ‘F.A.M.E’ nabbed the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 this week, outselling its nearest competitor, Jennifer Hudson’s ‘I Remember Me’ by more than a whopping 100k copies.

2010 was a year of ups and downs for Grammy Award-winning hitmaker Ne-Yo. The singer welcomed a daughter and scored a #1 single in the UK with ‘Beautiful Monster’ but also had to endure lackluster sales with his most recent album, ‘Libra Scale’.

In an exclusive chat with That Grape Juice, Ne-Yo addressed several points including why his album stalled on the charts and the musical direction of his next studio effort. The ever-opinionated artist also openly shared his thoughts on Usher’s upcoming “Revolutionary Pop” album, writing songs for Beyonce’s new project as well as working with Jennifer Hudson.

Additionally, Ne-Yo discussed his distaste for “lazy” singers who overuse auto-tune and his thoughts on Rihanna’s vocal ability in relation to that trend.
