For some strange reason, Nicki Minaj seems to believe that releasing music videos en masse serves as compensation for a lack of live performances. 

Tonight, in continuing that unfortunate trend, she releases a music video for ‘The Re-Up’ spawned single ‘Up In Flames’, no more than two weeks after releasing (and abandoning) the video for her Lil Wayne assisted single ‘High School‘.

As to lay the right foundations for the release of her forthcoming album, R&B veteran Brandy made her way to ‘Google’ hours ago for an in depth chat pertaining her layered career.

The latest star to grace their ‘Musicians At Google‘ series, the ‘Full Moon’ singer spoke openly on her journey thus far in a chat which lasted a total of 54 minutes.

Christina Aguilera showed a little love to Rihanna‘s ‘Diamonds World Tour’ last night, heading to the Staples Center to catch the show.

Sporting a slimmer frame, the ‘Loving Me 4 Me’ singer arrived with boyfriend Mathew Rutler where she enjoyed all the concert had to offer, including live showings of her #1 singles ‘Diamonds’, ‘Only Girl In The World’, ‘Umbrella’ and her budding hit ‘Pour It Up’.

Christina’s sighting comes after her Pitbull led ‘Feel This Moment’ entered the UK Top Ten at #8, as the push for her latest album ‘Lotus’ seems to have come to an untimely end.

With a headline-grabbing spot on American Idol secured and new material due this year, 2013 is set to feature a whole lot of Mimi – which got us thinking. After a 20 year plus career, what does “new” Mariah Carey means to a radically different music industry?

Yes, she’s a legend who’s done it all, has nothing to prove, so and so forth. Yet, in actively making a bid to remain relevant to the current music market, Carey is ultimately competing with the current crop of Pop divas. The Beyonce‘s, the Rihanna‘s, the GaGa‘s, and even the Nicki Minaj‘s. Don’t believe? Just ask her record label. For, at the end of the day, profit margins don’t recognize who is more of a dancer, who is more of a vocalist, and who has done did it all. In no uncertain terms, they recognize and reward whoever sold most.

Jay-Z continues to make mega-moves with his Roc Nation empire.

Fresh from hitting headlines that the full-service entertainment force is venturing into the Sports world, it has today been announced that the company has teamed up with Universal Music to house the official Roc Nation record label.

Beyond literally being a big deal, some may be wondering why this is this such a “big deal”. Well, while the Roc manages and A&R’s the likes of Rihanna, Rita Ora, Timbaland, and Kylie Minogue, they -until now-have not operated as an actual record label. Indeed, each of the aforementioned acts sit under different (and in some cases, rival) corporate umbrellas.

With this latest development, Roc Nation truly becomes its own  360 entity. Put simply, it’s now its own Def Jam, RCA, Columbia, and presents exciting new prospects for music moving forward.
