Crime dramas don’t seem to be getting the love they once were.  Just ask TNT and CBS as they have opted to cancel their beloved shows ‘Southland’ and ‘CSI:  NY’ respectively.

While TNT opted to renew soapy drama ‘Dallas’, the Regina King-starred ‘Southland’s fate was not such after gracing television for five seasons (one on NBC, four on TNT).  Indeed, while the show knew much critical success but consistently drew in low viewership.

In CBS land, shows ‘Vegas’, ‘Golden Boy’, and ‘Rules of Engagement’ join longtime runner ‘CSI: NY’ on the chopping block.  Had it been renewed, it would’ve been the show’s tenth season. (source)

ABC fans rejoice!  For, while competitor channels NBC and CBS have struggled to find audiences for what were once believed to be their top ratings earners, ABC has dominated the airwaves with a host of hits that will be coming to viewers again next season.

The Shonda Rimes-crafted shows ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Scandal’ (after recently winning its highest ratings ever) are set to return to screen as are fan-favorites ‘Once Upon A Time’, ‘Nashville’, ‘Modern Family’, ‘Suburgatory’, ‘Revenge’, ‘Castle’, ‘Last Man Standing’, ‘The Middle’, and ‘The Neighbors’.

Fans of shows ‘Body of Proof’, ‘Happy Endings’, ‘How To Live With Your Parents’, ‘Red Widow’, and ‘Malibu Country’, however, were not so lucky as all of those shows were cancelled.

NBC lowered its annual chopping block this week and a number of fan favorites got the axe, most notably the Jennifer Hudson-led ‘Smash’ and comedy series ‘The New Normal’ (Nene Leakes).

While the cancellation of the former comes as no surprise given its constant reports of extremely low ratings (given the caliber of star power aboard its roster), some were shocked to learned of ‘The New Normal’s axing after just one season.

In conjunction, many of the network’s “freshman” shows got the chop after just one season including ‘Go On’, the Anthony Anderson-led ‘Guys With Kids’, and the previously reported ‘Deception’ starring Meagan Good. (source)

After nabbing modest first week numbers with new album ‘Hotel California‘, Tyga embarked on its supporting European tour- hitting Heford,  Germany as part of the venture.

Performing a collection of his strongest material for attendees, the night saw him heat things up with a live serving of ‘For The Road’ and Chris Brown‘s ‘Deuces‘.

Shonda Rhimes and co. have done it again!

By way of the momentum generated by its ‘mole’ led plot, ABC‘s political thriller Scandal drew in a sweet 8.9 million viewers last night- marking the highest rated show in the US.

Beating ‘American Idol‘ and ‘The Big Bang Theory’, the Kerry Washington led series scored its best numbers to date, outperforming every other show to have aired in the market this week, serving as the show’s latest ratings win since its April 5th 2012 arrival.

Now on course to rank as TV‘s highest rated drama for the second time in three weeks, the series‘ winning streak comes weeks before ABC are set to announce the arrival of its third season–  helping to pick up the pieces from last night’s explosive revelation.

With critics slamming her ‘777 Tour‘ documentary across the globe to no end, one time Fefe Dobson wannabe engaged in a little therapy last night, arriving at an NYC ‘Best Buy’ store with her little brother Rajad.

While her time would have been better spent in a rehearsal setting (or taking notes from Beyonce‘s ‘Mrs.Carter Show‘) the vocal wonder courted paparazzi as she picked up products at the store…days after coming under fire from fans in the city of Boston, as explained here.

The most dangerous aspect of the world’s growing obsession with ‘industry related’ conspiracy theories, is that it enforces the idea that success and notoriety is only afforded to those who sell their souls to Satan himself.

Counter productive and all too telling of a society that continuously downplays the power of hard work, strategy and tenacity, very few acts have been able to avoid being linked to these fictional theories- Rihanna, Beyonce and Britney Spears included.

‘You Don’t Know’ Rapper 50 Cent has slammed long time rival Rick Ross- accusing the ‘Maybach Music‘ front man of presenting a dangerously false image of himself.

In an interview with ‘Hardknock TV‘, the MC’s comments on his fellow lyricist came during a discussion on the current state of Hip Hop hit making- which saw him share why he thought a number of Hip Hop artists- including a relative of his- play a dangerous game when penning lyrics about lives they haven’t lived.
