She’s usually the Queen of all thing glitz and glam. However, last night saw Pop diva Mariah Carey sport a quieter look at ‘American Idol‘s Season 12 premiere- whipping up momentum for the televised talent contest.

Arriving at the event for a spot of promo with her co-stars, Mariah opened up on the forthcoming season with press, six days before it hits FOX and welcomes what many hope will be the next generation of leading musicians.

As reported here, Queen of Hip Hop Soul Mary J. Blige joined screen queen Angela Bassett for the biographical film ‘Betty & Coretta’ – the story of Betty Shabazz and Coretta Scott King.  As many know, the two historical figures first shot to fam as the wives of civil rights leaders Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, however, time later proved them to be outstanding leaders in their own rights.

In such, this Black History Month will see the womens network unveil a never-before-told glimpse into their life stories and struggles. Set to premiere Saturday, February 2 at 8/7c, the film is reportedly one of three films Lifetime will air to African American history – including ‘Twist of Faith’ starring Toni Braxton.

Tonight, the 2013 People’s Choice Awards took the honor of being first to kick off the 2013 awards season. The ceremony, held at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater, saw TGJ favorites Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Beyonce, Usher, Chris Brown, and more all vying for the show’s top honors.

And, though quite the tight race, one of the aforementioned shocked all with a whopping four wins!

It may not take much for Barbadian beauty Rihanna to sail a single to the top of Billboard charts, but as spring 2012 proved, she isn’t the best captain on the movie-front.

Indeed, after quickly sinking at the box office, Ri’s ‘Battleship’ didn’t exactly make a splash with critics either – now landing she and crew aboard the 2013 Golden Raspberry Awards (Razzies) list.

With a whopping 7 nominations (just behind hit film ‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn II‘s eleven nods), including ‘Worst Picture’ and a ‘Worst Supporting Actress’ nod for her own showing, it looks like somebody at the Razzie academy – much like other academies – was not pleased with Ri’s performance.

She’s in good company, however.  As, much like her fiercest chart competitions, she will go head to head with movies featuring the likes of music starlets Ciara, Jennifer Lopez, and more:

After setting the net ablaze with a sneaky preview of her GQ cover, Beyonce‘s sizzling pose on the magazine’s February 2013 issue has been unveiled in high-quality.

If there was ever any doubt about the mother of one’s sex appeal in the wake of the birth of her daughter Blue Ivy, the 31 year old dispells it and then some with the Terry Richardson shoot – the rest of which will be uncovered on January 15th.

The feature kicks off what is set to be a busy window for the Destiny’s Child graduate. For, on the horizon are performances at President Obama’s inauguration and the Super Bowl Halftime Show, as well as a HBO Special and Vogue cover. Mobilizing all of this, of course, will be the singer’s new music – the first taste of which we hear is due any day now. Exciting times!
