It looks like Rihanna’s vision is almost as bad as her voice. The video vixen exclaimed on Twitter yesterday that her latest collection of beats and catchy hooks, ‘Loud’, has been certified platinum in the US. However, there is only 1 problem: the RIAA database has no trace of that achievement.

Still, if ‘Loud’ has managed to finally ship pass the 1 million mark then her team deserves to be congratulated, despite the fact that the record has sold less than 820k at retail outlet. It took a substantial amount of effort to convince US consumers that they were purchasing an album that isn’t destined to be forgotten when she releases yet another LP by the end of the year.

After all, those colourful wigs and bright outfits don’t sew themselves, and that camp of writers and producers costs quite a lot to maintain. Therefore, Rihanna’s team needs to be commended. Yet again they have managed to sell mediocrity by disguising it with clever marketing schemes and trendy Dance/Pop production.

Ever keen to spotlight, fresh new talent, That Grape Juice introduces to you Blaze Blackheart.

The Zambian-born / London-bred rapper is the subject of mounting buzz within the British industry. For, with his uniquely quirky sound, Blaze serves as one of the most refreshing UK Hip-Pop acts to emerge in some time..

He admits to drawing creatively from an interesting array of artists; asserting “Shakespeare taught me how to rap… how to put words together”, while 2Pac provided my musical inspiration”.

In carving out his own lane, Blaze has shunned the staple topics of violence and hyper-masculinity often found in popular rap. Instead, the self-styled ‘Gentleman of Hip Hop’, talks only of what he knows: real life, real feelings and the moments and situations that capture his true emotions.

Discovered, and now managed by James Merritt of Kiss 100, Blaze is currently hitting the live circuit, playing his music to an ever-increasing number of new fans. You can catch the newcomer on 1st February at London’s Embassy Club.
