In celebration of 50 years of awarding excellence in daytime television programming, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced the nominees for the annual Daytime Emmy Awards recently.

“In addition to this year’s many esteemed nominees, it is especially gratifying to also be celebrating so many milestones of Daytime television in our 50th anniversary year,” said Brent Stanton, Head of Daytime, NATAS. “Not only are we celebrating 50 years of Daytime Emmy® Award programming, we are also celebrating the milestones of some of its longest-running shows such as General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, Dr. Phil and Rachael Ray.”

While the 60-year-old, legendary soap opera ‘General Hospital‘ led the way with a whopping 19 nods, standout nominees also included beloved talk shows ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ (11), ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ (7), ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’ (6), and ‘Sherri,’ ‘Tamron Hall,’ and ‘The View’ (4 each).

Latto may not have struck the Billboard gold her fans were expecting with her latest single, ‘Lottery,’ but that hasn’t stopped the GRAMMY nominee from rolling the dice on its follow-up ‘Put It On Da Floor.’

Given an unofficial premiere at Coachella last month, the tune’s recorded version dropped shortly and garnered quite the polarizing buzz when some of its lyrics were perceived as disses to fellow rapstress Coi Leray.

“Sh-t around my neck, it cost a arm and leg,” she rapped before adding later, “Smoking on that gas, blunt big as Coi Leray / B-tches like to run their mouths but I’m the type to run the fade.”

With that short-lived drama behind her, Big Latto moved forward with the unveiling of the Go Grizzly-produced cut’s official music video.

Much like fellow powerhouse divas Mariah Carey, Sade, Anita Baker, Celine Dion, Patti LaBelle, and Dionne Warwick, Queen of Funk Chaka Khan is used to being royally snubbed by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame despite being one of the most influential female artists of her genre.

Having burst onto the scene in the early 70’s as part of the Funk group Rufus, Khan’s five-decade career boasts 10 GRAMMY wins, over 70 million records sold, and several R&B classics to her name like ‘Sweet Thing,’ ‘Through the Fire,’ ‘I Feel For You,’ and more.

Nevertheless, inclusion in the coveted Rock Hall has been elusive for the diva since she first became eligible as part of Rufus in the late 90s and later in the early 2000s as a solo act.

7 nominations later (four in the group and three solo), the institution has finally granted the ‘Tell Me Something Good’ singer some good news thanks to the announcement of its 2023 class. Details inside.
