‘Un-Break My Heart’ has taken on a new meaning for R&B icon Toni Braxton over the years.
The 7-time GRAMMY winner, who has been open about her battles with lupus, microvascular angina, and other health concerns, made headlines in late April when she took to ‘The Today Show’ to reveal she recently had to have a coronary stent placed to prevent a possibly fatal heart attack.
“It (was) put in at a really, really scary moment,” the 55-year-old told the morning talk show, adding that the experience felt “surreal.”
Later on ‘Sherri‘ (May 1), Braxton elaborated on the cardiac episode with surprising details.
“I had a little scare about six months ago,” an emotional Toni started. “Having lupus affects a lot of your vital organs. It’s starting to affect my kidneys. It can affect any organ in your body, but this time it’s affecting my heart,” she revealed before detailing her coronary artery was 80% blocked and having to undergo surgery to avoid a massive heart attack.
