Keyshia Cole is set to tell her story on her terms in partnership with Lifetime.
The R&B belle is taking the reigns of her narrative by way of her aptly titled movie ‘Keyshia Cole: This is My Story.’
Set to premiere on June 24, the film – which Cole executive produced and stars in – promises a raw and unvarnished look at her humble beginnings, rise to fame, and complicated family dynamic with the likes of her late mom Frankie (played by Debbi Morgan).
Speaking on the project and its impetus, the songbird said:
“This is a story of a daughter’s love for her mother and although my heart remains broken from her untimely passing I am honored to be sharing it with the world. Playing the role of myself was a unique opportunity to re-live special moments in my life that also gave me the chance to process her loss in ways I did not expect. I miss her every day and even though she is not here, her presence was felt throughout this film. Mom, I love you.”

Titled ‘Popular,’ the latter cut also features GRAMMY-nominated rapper Playboi Carti.
“I know that you see me, time’s gone by / Spent my whole life runnin’ from your flashin’ lights / Try to own it, but I’m alright / You can’t take my soul without a f-cking fight,” she croons on the Metro Boomin-produced cut.
