Lifetime delivered a ratings double knockout thanks to TD Jakes Enterprises, which acted as the producer for two movies for the women’s network:  ‘Lust’ (starring Keri Hilson) and ‘Envy’ (starring Serayah).

Both productions served as film adaptations of Victoria Christopher Murray books of the same names and launched back-to-back weekend premieres as part of the channel’s ‘Seven Deadly Sins Story’ franchise.

First boasting a ratings win with the critically acclaimed ‘Lust’ (April 10), ‘Envy’ – which also starred GRAMMY winning singer-songwriter Kandi Burruss, Da Brat, DC Young Fly, Donovan Christie Jr., Gregory Alan Williams, Clifton Powell and ‘The Game’ star Hosea Chanchez – followed with even higher viewership!

Acting continues to agree with multi-hyphenate diva Keri Hilson.

The GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter may be best known for topping music charts with tunes like ‘Pretty Girl Rock,’ ‘Turnin Me On,’ ‘Knock You Down,’ and more (as well as writing hits for the likes of Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige, and others).  But – as evidenced by her appearances in a string of successful feature films on the big and small screen since the early 2010’s – her talents aren’t limited to the studio and stage.

No further evidence is needed than her latest movie venture, ‘Lust.’

Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin was no stranger to ruling over radio and charts during her 50+-year career, and now her legacy reigns over TV ratings courtesy of the critically acclaimed National Geographic series, ‘Genius.’

Toplined by EMMY, GRAMMY, and TONY Award-winning singer-actress Cynthia Erivo (alongside a cast of familiar faces that includes T.I., Luke James, Tweet, Omar Dorsey, Crystal Rucker, and the late Gospel legend Duranice Pace), the four-part miniserieschronicled Franklin’s humble Memphis beginnings to worldwide fame on the backs of hits ‘Respect,’ ‘Never Loved a Man,’ ‘Think,’ and more.

Despite the legend’s estate vocalizing their disappointment for being excluded from the biographical venture’s conception and planning, their protests did little to quell viewership as updated ratings reports reveal the 8-episode venture is the franchise’s most watched edition to date.

Not even the combined forces of Beyonce, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, and Billie Eilish were enough to save this year’s Grammys from failing to attract viewers.

Early Nielsen ratings reports indicate a low tune-in for the Trevor Noah-hosted affair, which aired live Sunday night (March 14).

Indeed, despite boasting a slew of historic highs and unprecedented wins, the 63rd edition of music’s biggest night courted its lowest viewership figures ever – over 50% less than last year’s.

Famed for its unique storyline of chronicling the social lives of Atlanta doctors and doctors’ wives, audiences were easily engaged to and by BRAVO’s ‘Married to Medicine.’ a truth underscored by the show quickly becoming a ratings force for its network.

Yet, despite commanding millions of viewers at the height of its popularity, increased competition from similarly structured programs, shake-ups with the cast, and the unceremonious ousting of fan favorites seemed to be the catalyst for decline in numbers over the last 2 years.

Faithfuls of the Mariah Huq-created show may have had higher hopes for its season 8 premiere on March 7, but Nielsen ratings analysts have dashed them with the final update on the episode’s viewership tally.

A double dose of Tyler Perry was just what BET ordered to win the TV ratings war Tuesday night (February 16).

As we reported here, comedians Kenan Thompson and wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson were the ratings champs on the broadcast front.  Among cable networks, however, Perry was the clear victor.

With the television debut of his acclaimed stage play, ‘Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Farewell Play,’ already met with high anticipation for its February 16 airing, that excitement was sent into overdrive after the announcement it would be preceded by the season 2 premiere of his original scripted series, ‘The Oval.’

Rated the #1 new series for African Americans P2+ on cable in 2020, the show’s second swing at bat indicated it shows no sign of loosening grip on the title any time soon.

With the highly-anticipated, back-to-back premieres of new comedies ‘Young Rock’ and ‘Kenan,’ Tuesday (February 16) was a night of ‘must-see TV’ over at NBC.

The former is a loosely biographical sitcom based on the story of award-winning wrestler-turned-actor Dwyane ‘The Rock’ Johnson while the latter sees comedy veteran Kenan Thompson topline his first series since the 4-season run of Nickelodeon’s 90’s hit, ‘Kenan & Kel.’

Together, the 1-2 punch of funny proved potent enough to knock out the competition and lead NBC to a winning night of ratings.

‘Basketball Wives’ was once one of VH1’s highest rated programs, easily netting 1-2 million viewers per episode at the height of its popularity.

And though season 8 (which aired over 2019) saw the Shaunie O’Neal-produced show score some of its lowest ratings in its history, the season was still able to secure average viewership of at least 1 million.

Thanks to the hype that preceded the show’s season 9 kick off (February 9), many predicted the return of Malaysia Pargo, Evelyn Lozada, Jackie Christie, Jennifer Williams, Kristen Scott, Ogom “OG” Chijindu, and Feby Torres to screens would be a slam dunk on the ratings front.

Premiere figures reveal, however, the year that passed since the last time fans caught new episodes of ‘Basketball Wives’ may have worked to its detriment.

Given the most vied time slot in television, the new show – a small screen adaptation of the 2014 Denzel Washington movie of the same name – dominated Sunday night viewership figures following the Super Bowl (February 7), scoring over 10 times the eyes of its nearest scripted competitors.
