As uncomfortable as it is to admit, double standards continue to run rampant in the entertainment industry.

For, when Ciara‘s ‘Ride’ faced bans many a Trey Songz’ visual didn’t, it reaffirmed- even if done unintentionally- that the marketplace that is the music industry is anything but fair.

Now, while the example above highlighted the problem sexism still plays in the female arena, ‘Original Man’ performer Lord Jamar has taken aim at a culture which he says sees Caucasian acts knowingly pull from ‘Urban’ culture…and use ‘white privilege’ to surpass the African American acts they pulled from.

The concert tour industry’s leading publication Pollstar has released their ‘Top 20 Worldwide Tours of 2013‘ tally today, listing and celebrating the year’s highest grossing stage showings!

Sure to ruffle a few fan feathers and shed light on just how successful the year was for a certain Beyonce Carter, the list below also proves that all is never at seems in the smoke’n’mirrors employing production that is the music industry.

For, removed from the hype built around them to create the illusion of ‘list topping success’, many of the shows listed below found themselves being outperformed by tours that made major bucks without making major media noise.

One’s a reformed Disney darling who has twerked her way to the top of charts while another has taken a more, umm, clothed approach to chart-topping.  But, despite differing travels to Billboard’s heights, the similarly wholesome beginnings of young divas Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande respectively drove them to become household names.

Now that Cyrus has tapped into her inner bad girl, the ‘We Can’t Stop’ singer is encouraging Grande to shed her good girl image and follow suit.  In a recent interview with New York Times, the country darling addressed her vixen image, Grande’s image, and her 2013 overall.
