Muni Long most certainly lives up to her name – but her journey hasn’t been without its bumps along the way.

No newbie to the music industry, the star first hit the scene over a decade ago using her birth name Priscilla Renea. First, she set sail as an artist before finding the lion’s share of her success as a songwriter for others.

In a compelling new interview on The Breakfast Club, the songbird – whose hit ‘Hrs and Hrs’ defines breakout smash – colored in the corners of her story that not all are familiar with.

Indeed, she dished on making her first million dollars by age 21, the politics that are rife in the music industry (specifically the lack of respect songwriters receive), being sued for double-digit millions by her former management, missing out on a Drake collaboration because of an ex, and re-branding.

The star also opened up about her forthcoming project, which will serve as the first release from her new joint venture deal with Def Jam.

Despite taking time to enjoy motherhood and flex their skills as a music video director for other artists since 2020’s ‘It Was Good Until It Wasn’t,’ singer-songwriter Kehlani finally returned focus to their own music by unveiling their first album in two years – ‘Blue Water Road.’

Released April 29, the 13-track project – named after the street in California where it was recorded – was executive produced by Pop Wansel and features appearances from the likes of Justin Bieber, Syd, Thundercat, Blxst, Jessie Reyez, and Ambré.

Met with generally favorable reviews from industry critics and fans alike, ‘Blue Water’ has so far made a modest splash on digital download and streaming outlets – a fate some attribute to the soft rollout that accompanied its release.
