Thanks to ‘Big Energy,’ rapper Latto has had a BIG week.

The Dr. Luke-produced bop, which had already set a personal milestone for the femcee as her biggest hit yet, soared into the Hot 100’s top 10 on the wings of a Mariah Carey-assisted remix.  Elsewhere on the charts, ‘777’ – her sophomore album and parent project of ‘Big Energy’ – opened in the top 20 on the Billboard 200 accompanied by her biggest sales week to date.

Those wins don’t have the 23-year-old resting on her laurels, however.  Thursday night (April 7), she was spotted on the late nite TV circuit making her ‘Tonight Show’ debut.

Days after delivering a heartfelt tribute at the 64th annual GRAMMYs to the fallen citizens of Ukraine amid the country’s ongoing war with Russia, John Legend – who performed ‘Free’ alongside three Ukrainian female artists Siuzanna Iglidan, Mika Newtown, and poet Lyuba Yakimchuk – is giving his fans a listen to the new song’s official recorded version.

Taking to Twitter shortly after, Legend detailed the meaning behind the touching tune – which he says was inspired by his ‘enslaved African American ancestors’ and ‘refugees of every skin color.’

“FREE is a prayer. It’s a prayer for peace throughout the world. A prayer for all the dispossessed and dislocated,” he began before later stating, “I know I can’t end any wars with a song, but I had to write this song as my prayer, my contribution to the chorus of voices calling for peace and freedom for all people. I hope each of us can find our own way to contribute to this chorus.”

Jussie Smollett is not holding back.

He has gone straight from spending his days in jail to spending his days behind the microphone. Case in point, he has just released a scathing new song about his hoax hate crime conviction.

Across the new tune he can be heard singing:

You think I’m stupid enough to kill my reputation? / Just simply to look like a victim /  Like it’s something fun / Y’all better look at someone else / You got the wrong one.

As previously reported, the former ‘Empire’ actor was sentenced to 150 days in jail and probation before he was released pending the outcome of the appeal.
