With announcements from leading ladies Beyonce and Fantasia, seems Fall 2011 is a great season for R&B – with the ‘B’, apparently, being for ‘babies’.  And, while fans are anxiously expecting ‘Sexy Love’ singer Ne-Yo‘s new music projects, US Weekly reports the singer is expecting a few new things of his own.

US Weekly reports:

“The “Closer” singer (real name: Shaffer Chimere Smith) and his longtime girlfriend, Atlanta boutique owner Monyetta Shaw, are engaged and expecting their second child together, her rep confirms.  According to a source, baby number two is due very soon — in October.”

Congratulations are certainly in order for the hitmaker, whose first child was born in November 2010.  In related news, fans should be expecting more new music from Ne-Yo as his Kevin Hart-hosted mixtape 101 and fifth studio album will be arriving in the coming months.

12 hours after unveiling the studio version of ‘2 Million Secrets,’ his first single as an independent artist, Ne-Yo lifted the lid on the tune’s cinematic accompanying music video.

“This song took a little bit of growth on my part to even write, and even more to sing. This song is basically about owning your s—Nobody is above mistakes, nobody is above redemption. You do better and you keep pushing,” he said previously about ‘Secrets.’ “This song is not a song, this song is a confession.”

Among those confessions is the seeming address of his failed marriage to ex-wife Crystal Smith amid her claims he had “unprotected sex with numerous other women” and fathered a child with one of his extramarital exploits.

Amid ongoing controversy and criticism surrounding his highly publicized split from ex-wife Crystal Smith including accusations of having “unprotected sex with numerous other women” and fathering a child with one of his extramarital exploits, Ne-Yo drops the deeply introspective new song ‘2 Million Secrets.’

Premiered during his critically acclaimed live performance on Tiny Desk earlier this year, Friday (June 14) brought with it the arrival of the tune’s studio-recorded version.

“Never held you to your duties as a wife, let you do what you want to / ‘Cause I had a couple in the background down to give me what I couldn’t get from you, that ain’t an excuse / I made a promise and then I hurt you / I’m really sorry to be honest for once,” he sings in the Remo the Hitmaker-produced tune.

Having already won over critics with the original incarnation of ‘Link Up,’ his first single in a year, Ne-Yo is looking to see that success replicated commercially by giving the blazing tune an official remix.

Tapping GRAMMY-nominated rapper Fabolous to assist, the duo – who boast several collaborations together over the years including 2008’s ‘She Got Her Own’ and 2007’s ‘Make Me Better’ – reunite for the 90’s-flavored ‘Link.’

“I’ve been givin’ into everything you mention (Ooh) / Lovin’ you is my only intention, oh (Ooh) / Put in somethin’ know you, I know you been missin’ (Ooh) / Girl, that’s my mission,” Ne-Yo croons on the Hitmaka, Cardiak and Wu10-produced jam that borrows prominently elements of Zhane‘s ‘Hey Mr. DJ.’

Summer may be officially over, but Ne-Yo is still enjoying some fun in the Miami sun in the music video for his latest single ‘Link Up.’

“Tell me I’m your favorite tonight / And we gon’ do, we gon’ do everything you like,” he sings over the Hitmaka, Cardiak, and Wu10-produced track/

Bolstered by a prominent feature of Michael Wycoff’s 1982 hit ‘Looking Up to You,’ ‘Link’ comes as the first taste of new music since 2022’s ‘Self Explanatory‘ album and is among many cuts getting the live treatment aboard the Pleasure P and Mario-assisted ‘Champagne & Roses Tour’ (formerly featuring Robin Thicke).

Ne-Yo‘s latest album, the July 15-released ‘Self Explanatory,’ may log his first LP to miss the top 40 of the Billboard 200 upon its debut, but that’s certainly not stopping the singer-songwriter from attempting to turn the tide on its success narrative.

Undoubtedly dominating headlines as of late for more personal matters than professional (see: looming divorce, accusations of infidelity, etc.), Ne-Yo (born Shaffer Smith) is looking to bring the focus back to his music by releasing another single from the ill-fated opus.

Titled ‘Layin Low,’ the single features rising R&B artist Zae France and sees the two trade verses about a good girl who’s gone bad after getting a taste of the city life.

“You in L.A, but ain’t layin’ low / You out that way just to gas you up / Oh girl, I know you out there / You ain’t like that, noYou in L.A, but ain’t layin’ low / You ain’t layin’ low (’cause you outside),” they croon on the cut’s chorus.

Ne-Yo may have collected criticaly acclaim aplenty for his latest album, the July 15-released ‘Self Explanatory,’ but the LP hasn’t been able to boast that same success commercially.

Entering the Billboard 200 at #184 this week, the project marks his first studio effort to debut outside of the top 40 on the tally.

Undeterred by the slow start, the singer-songwriter (born Shaffer Smith) is pressing forward with showcasing more of the tunes found aboard ‘Self Explanatory.’  Having already won over R&B lovers with the set’s housed cuts ‘You Got the Body,’ ‘U 2 Luv,’ ‘Don’t Love Me,’ and ‘Stay Down,’ the GRAMMY winner is following those gems with a visual for the new song ‘Handle Me Gently.’

Just weeks after it was announced Ne-Yo will be starring opposite former ‘Empire’ star Serayah aboard the forthcoming romantic comedy ‘Sound of Christmas’ (as we reported here), the two – who previously shared screen time aboard VH1’s ‘Hip Hop Christmas’ – have unwrapped yet another collaboration.

This time teaming for the music video to his latest single ‘Don’t Love Me,’ Ne-Yo narrates as Serayah acts out the emotional rollercoaster of a love-gone-wrong alongside ‘P-Valley’ actor Tyler Lepley.  Ultimately, he urges her to move on.

“Please, oh, please, don’t love me / Walk away, you’ll be better for it / I can’t be, your happy / Walk away, you’ll be better for it, girl / I’m only gonna hurt you,” he pleads on the emotional track.
