A former NFL linebacker incited backlash over the weekend after weighing in on the authenticity of the marriage of Russell Wilson and Ciara.

Channing Crowder, now a host on the ‘Pivot Podcast,’ waxed honest about his thoughts on the power couple (just three months shy of their sixth wedding anniversary) – taking to a recent episode of the platform to discuss Ciara’s dating history.

Needless to say, his statements – which included suggestions Cici only married Russell for his money – didn’t sit well with the diva’s supporters and fans (affectionately called the #CSquad).

As reported, the Pop provocateur is nominated for multiple honors at this year’s installment of Music’s Biggest Night – which takes place live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Included in his tally are nominations for Record of the Year and Song of the Year for ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name).’
