The seven-week long chart championship of SZA‘s sophomore album, ‘SOS,’ has quite a few historic stats attached to it, but a standout is its surprising relationship to Whitney Houston‘s eponymous sophomore effort, 1987’s ‘Whitney.’
Latto is once more proving her versatility.
For, she has just dropped a new freestyle to SZA‘s ‘Smoking on My Ex Pack.’
“Smokin’ on my ex / S****in’ on his b***h / Thinkin’ ’bout my sex / All this water on my wrist. Got ’em thinkin’ I switched / Nah, ‘Big Energy’ just hit / If you think a n***a ain’t claimin’ this, you smokin’ d**k,” she raps on the song.
Her freestyle was a big hit on social media and even caught the attention of SZA who praised Latto, who wrote “Oh it’s getting CRITICAL!!!!” on her Instagram Stories.

SZA‘s bid to secure her first #1 hit on the Hot 100 may have been blocked by Taylor Swift last week and Miley Cyrus this week, but the R&B diva still has her sights set on seeing her name carved in the position with the ‘SOS‘ hit ‘Kill Bill.’
To aid its battle for the top spot the songstress (born Solana Rowe) has lifted the lid on yet another version of the tune, this time offering fans a stripped back rendition.
“I might kill my ex, not the best idea / His new girlfriend’s next, how’d I get here? / I might kill my ex, I still love him, though / Rather be in jail than alone,” she sings over the acoustic guitar.
And while ‘Bill’ has already helped hoist its parent album to a historic sixth week atop the Billboard 200, is the acoustic rendition just what the doctor ordered to finally get itself to the Hot 100’s summit?

TikTok has not only proven itself a great promotional tool for new music over the years but also a powerful mean to introduce younger generations of music lovers to the hits of yesteryear.
And while many acts can attest to the platform’s commercial potency, the most astounding recent example comes courtesy of ‘Sure Thing‘ – the 2011 breakout single of R&B crooner Miguel.
Catapulted to viral status on the app thanks to users incorporating clips of the Happy Perez-produced track on their videos, the awakened exposure has led to impressive sales and streaming gains of the 3x Platinum track.
So much so, ‘Sure’ appeared on the refreshed Hot 100 – leapfrogging over some of the day’s biggest hits from the likes of Taylor Swift, SZA, Drake, and other current-day hitmakers.
