For despite being in the thick of promotion for current album ‘Sweetener,’ the singer hatched ‘Thank U, Next’ – a butter-smooth jam (not featured on the LP). Lyrically it  addresses her relationship with exes such as Mac Miller and Pete Davidson.

An immediate fan magnet, the track exploded on both streaming and retail formats – landing Ari her first ever #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Not even a collection of stage-blazing performances from the likes of Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, and more were enough to help this year’s MTV VMAs drum up some respectable viewership figures. After netting their lowest ratings ever with the 2017 showing (click here for details), the hopes were probably a bit higher for this year’s.

Preliminary figures revealed after the show’s first airing offered a bleak outlook, one confirmed by today’s final figures that indicate the 2018 edition of the MTV VMAs were their lowest rated in history.

Iraqi rapper I-NZ made headlines recently after releasing his music video ‘This is Iraq,’ which was inspired by VMA nominee Childish Gambino’s chart-topping hit ‘This is America.’

Sources close to the artist tell That Grape Juice that I-NZ may accompany Gambino (real name Donald Glover) to the 2018 MTV VMAs on Monday, August 20th in New York City.

Historically, the annual extravaganza has been established as the platform on which anything and everything can happen. And this year looks to be no different.

As at writing, performers on the bill on include Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Post Malone, and Travis Scott. Additional names are expected to be announced in the coming days.
