Now more than two days since their ‘run in’ during a dinner held by Rap Svengali, Diddy, footage from Ray J and Fabolous‘ famed confrontation has surfaced, hours after both characters took to the airwaves to explain each of their sides of the Twitter fuelled story.
‘A Different Me’ diva Keyshia Cole has sent fans into a frenzy with the announcement that the follow-up to 2010’s ‘Calling All Hearts’ is due in early 2012:
With a movie and reality show in the works, fans should expect to see alot of Cole in the coming months. And, in related news, the songstress also recently took to Twitter to reveal desires to duet with fellow R&B beauty Brandy and assure fans that the 2012 album with be ‘nothing like’ its predecessor.
Given its dismal performance on the charts, we’re sure fans and labels alike are hoping such is true in more ways than one .
North Carolinian emcee J. Cole may be the latest hip-hop hitmaker to find his album prematurely leaking online, but he’s taking it all in stride. Most recently speaking with VIBE, the Roc Nation rapper, whose debut album ‘Cole World: A Sideline Story’ is due in stores September 27th, is quoted saying:
“There’s been worse leaks than that so I understand it’s a part of the game, I always understood that. As long as people hear it together, it’s cool. It’s kind of like promotion these days—if you got a good album. If you don’t have a good album—they’ll just trash you.”
In the brief interview with the Urban publication, the rapper also touched on pre-album release jitters and hinted on what fans could expect from the leaked LP. Hear this and more after the jump:
After a number of up-tempo outings, Pop pin-ups JLS slow it down on their new single ‘Take A Chance On Me’. The track, which premiered in full moments ago, is the 3rd to be lifted from their third studio album ‘Jukebox’ (due November).
That is the impressive number of views newcomer Kreayshawn has amassed with the video for her debut single ‘Gucci Gucci’. A figure rendered all the more jaw-dropping when discovering that much of it accumulated prior to the 21 year old signing with Columbia Records.
Yet, as her recent deal with the Sony Music imprint attests, this Oakland native’s buzz is undeniable. Which begs the question: just who is Kreayshawn?
That Grape Juice sat down with the femcee, chatting it up with her about her journey thus far, the White Girl Mob, issues of colour and whether she feels her own has hindered her from being taken seriously, Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim, and more.
As ever, we ask the questions you really want answers to.
With announcements from leading ladies Beyonce and Fantasia, seems Fall 2011 is a great season for R&B – with the ‘B’, apparently, being for ‘babies’. And, while fans are anxiously expecting ‘Sexy Love’ singer Ne-Yo‘s new music projects, US Weekly reports the singer is expecting a few new things of his own.
“The “Closer” singer (real name: Shaffer Chimere Smith) and his longtime girlfriend, Atlanta boutique owner Monyetta Shaw, are engaged and expecting their second child together, her rep confirms. According to a source, baby number two is due very soon — in October.”
Congratulations are certainly in order for the hitmaker, whose first child was born in November 2010. In related news, fans should be expecting more new music from Ne-Yo as his Kevin Hart-hosted mixtape 101 and fifth studio album will be arriving in the coming months.
It may be hard to believe, but only three weeks have passed since Beyonce Knowles‘ pregnancy was confirmed at the 2011 Video Music Awards.
Now in an exclusive interview with CNN , the performer has discussed the joy her latest creation is bringing her and how he/she has influenced the latest collection from the clothing line she runs with her mother, Tina Knowles.
Find out what the Dreamgirl had to say about working with her mother and baby below…
Sometimes it’s hard to believe that chart-Queen Lady GaGa‘s big break only occured in 2008. Indeed, that time to now has seen the Pop force create a lane of her own and become a pioneer – doing in three years what many of her peers have tried their whole careers to achieve. So speedy has her musical and physical evolution been that it genuinely feels like she’s been here forever. As such, her ‘Just Dance’ days now seem many moons old.
This week’s From The Vault takes aim with GaGa of yesteryear and her ‘LoveGame’ – the third single (or fourth depending on your region) to be lifted from her first opus, ‘The Fame’.
The RedOne helmed tune is a gritty number exploring themes such as love, sex and of course fame. While it possesses all the ingredients to a Pop-record, what’s interesting about the cut is how seamlessly it fuses those sensibilities with a particular Urban edge. That Hip-Hop/R&B undercurrent which was ever present throughout the ‘The Fame’ era; an undercurrent which seems to be long gone judging from the ‘Judas’ singer most recent material. Rather unfortunate, we must say.
The accompanying visual is a high-energy dance video and showcases Stefani and her dancers going all out in a subway station and was really the first of many dance-oriented videos she would go on deliver. While GaGa has always cited Michael and Janet Jackson as some of her influences, the LoveGame video demonstrates just how much, for it has a strong air of “Jackson” to it.
With the “Born This Way” singer experiencing critical acclaim and commercial success with her latest Electro-Pop output, we won’t hold our breath waiting for an “Urban-GaGa” resurgence anytime soon.
No matter the kind of music she’s churning out, let’s hope GaGa can continue to raise the bar for artists the world pver and inspire them to push the enveloppe musically and visually… that is of course if her rapid rise to fame doesn’t result in an even quicker fall, because you know what they say: “the brightest stars burn out the fastest”.
