Far removed is the R&B world from the ear splitting fangirl screams at the sight of new millennium boy band, B2K. Now, the mention of the one time heartthrobs induces jokes about member Raz-B‘s boy-who-cried-rape internet antics. The rest of the guys are still releasing music, albeit to no specific hurrah. But there are still a few artist from the old T.U.G. Entertainment roster making legitimate noise on the current music scene. The all girl response to B2K, collective TG4, was ultimately shelved by the label, but produced Amber Streeter, now known as Seven of fledgling female quartet Richgirl. The 24-year-old is a frequent collaborator, and apparent muse of R&B singer Chris Brown (see ‘She Ain’t You’, F.A.M.E, In My Zone series, etc.). 2011 also saw the reappearance of B2K’s resident rhymer Lil’ Fizz’s younger cousin Jhene.

As the age old adage goes: “you better get it while it’s hot”. A certain Christina Aguilera seems versed up in this, as she recently shot the video for new single ‘Moves Like Jagger’.

The Maroon 5 duet has been a surprise hit; owing much of its success, no doubt, to NBC’s The Voice – which Aguilera and the group’s leader Adam Levine judge and have performed on.

‘Hold It Against Me’ and ‘Telephone’ director Jonas Akerlund takes the helm of the clip – which the ‘Dirrty’ singer tweeted from the set of earlier today.

The ladies are really running this motha-, and no one (arguably) more deservedly so than soulstress Jill Scott.  The singer, whose most recent album ‘Light of the Sun’ landed right atop the Billboard 200, was a fan and critic fave at last week’s Essence Festival.  Now the ‘Golden’ diva is bringing that show-stopping set to a city near you.

Recently sponsored as part of the Budweiser Superfest,  the ‘Jill Scott Block Party’ tour maybe gracing a stage in your town.  See the dates after the jump:

Dancing machine Jason Derulo made a shocking announcement to MTV News revealing plans to take an extended break from music (after just two albums) to focus on acting.  The announcement comes shortly after the ‘Don’t Wanna Go Home’ singer, whose sophomore album ‘Future History’ will hit stores in September, reportedly passed on an opportunity to play famed guitarist Jimi Hendrix in a biopic.

In reference to the role’s declination, the Miami native stated:

“I really wanted to make sure it [the Future History album] gets the exposure it deserves. It has to be heard by everybody. After this album, I will dive full-throttle into movies for a while. I will ultimately take a break from music.”

A piano laced ballad, featured on The Help soundtrack (due in stores July 26), sees Blige display a softer, toned down vocal performance – a rarity.
