Looks like the wish of Mariah Huq – the co-creator and star of Bravo’s latest reality show ‘Married To Medicine’ got her wish for a hit.  Indeed, the show’s premiere – which hit screens last night immediately after ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ – opened to soaring ratings.

Via THR:

“Married to Medicine brought in 1.9 million viewers during its premiere outing.

That’s the highest number for a Bravo series launch since Bethenny Getting Married in 2010 and the most-watched premiere ever for a non-spinoff.”

The news comes shortly after a number of Howard University medical students started an online petition to have the show cancelled – much like that of Shawty Lo‘s ‘All My Baby Mamas’ reality stint.

In a a time where people have become more aware of the prejudices that still exist to disturb the lives of minorities, speaking out against these prejudices as a public figure today is no doubt easier than it would have been for the likes of Madonna or Cyndi Lauper when they boldly did so back in the 80s.

Sure, as unfortunate as this may be to admit, there are some entertainers who while have condemned the mistreatment and legal barriers placed against same sex couples via seemingly heartfelt gestures, but have gone onto prove their motives for doing so are anything but altruistic…more interested in using the gay community to boost their own ‘approval ratings’ in and outside of the industry’s walls.

Today, ‘Chime For Change’ icon Beyonce stood as one of the many who truly does care to make a difference, making her stance on marriage equality very public via her personal Instagram page.

Jennifer Hudson stunned spectators in her Donna Karan ensemble last night as she strutted her way to the dedication of a new ‘Weight Watchers’ center in honor of the company’s founder Jean Nidetch.

Simultaneously celebrating its 50th anniversary, the weight loss titans tapped J.Hud – its present spokesperson – to share news about her weight loss journey.

While there, the soon-to-be-Mrs. Otunga shared news on her new album as well and her thoughts on this season of American Idol (including Nicki Minaj vs. Mariah Carey).

Pop diva Christina Aguilera has been majorly M.I.A since she wrapped her stint on The Voice back in December. However, the last week has seen the star pop up and out in fine fashion; first there was the video for Pitbull‘s smash ‘Feel This Moment’ and last night, she made a surprise appearance at the season 4 premiere on the hit NBC show.

The ‘Your Body’ singer was in the house at the Los Angeles event to support new coaches Shakira and Usher – who are apparently replacing her and Cee-Lo Green for just one season (although we’re sure the ratings will be the true deciding factor).

Turning heads in a flirty black dress, the mother of one looked the most refreshed she has in a long while. We can only hope her fit and fierce new look is an indication that she’s plotting a return to the spotlight – be that a re-revving of underrated LP ‘Lotus’ or new material. She’s too important to the industry, both as a vocalist and a performer, to not add more chapters of success to her story.

Put simply: Xtina, it time to get back to business!

Oprah Winfrey‘s ‘OWN‘ has seen quite a turnaround in ratings since its troubled debut.  Rocking ratings with hit series like ‘Oprah’s Master Class’, ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’, and ‘Iyanla: Fix My Life’, O is looking to continue her good streak by introducing new reality segments – namely ‘Life With LaToya’.

Yes, indeed we are talking about LaToya Jackson.  The Jackson-family black sheep has seen her career overcast by a number of misfortunes including poor album sales, poor performances, and poor public reception.  Jackson is looking to change that however by taking control (no pun intended) and center stage – for once not at the expense of a sibling.

Set to debut Saturday, April 13th at 10:30 pm ET on OWN, get into its trailer above and tell us your thoughts?

Despite readying the launch of her ‘Diamonds World Tour’  this week, Rihanna still found time to spew a little ugliness days ago when she launched a subtle dig at SONY Princess Ciara.

Indeed, by way of her unemployed puppet Melissa Forde, the part time entertainer mocked the singer’s a capella rendition of her new single ‘Body Party’, released in full hours later.

Today, Ciara addressed the matter in depth during an appearance on Chicago’s 107.5FM, explaining that she knew Rihanna and her perpetual pet ‘weren’t coming from a positive place’.
