After delivering impressive ratings with the two-night premiere of their E! reality show Chasing The Saturdays, Brit-Pop belle’s The Saturdays aren’t resting on their laurels just yet.

The ladies are still hot on the promotional trail, this week stopping by ‘The Jeff Probst Show’ to perform an acoustic version of the first Stateside single ‘What About Us’.

How did they fare? The answer awaits after the jump…

17.8 million viewers tuned into ‘The Nicki Minaj Show’ American Idol‘s season 12 launch last night, which saw Pop wonder Mariah Carey, Country star Keith Urban and Rap Queen Nicki Minaj take their places on the judging panel for the first time.

Mariah Carey‘s “shade dispenser” status has been established almost as long as her reign atop of the charts. Indeed, the legendary diva is renown for her quick-witted responses and  brisk dismissal of tomfoolery.

Hence, it was little surprise that the singer adopted this approach when addressing her “beef” with Nicki Minaj in a sit-down interview with Barbara Walters on Nightline last night.

Famed for asking questions the people really want answers to, Walters quizzed Carey on the drama with her fellow American Idol judge,  motherhood, marriage, and more.

The segment also featured Mimi working on patriotic cut ‘Bring It On Home’ and another piano-driven number – the latter of which believed to be a track from her upcoming album.

Britney Spears may be all smile in the shot above, but if new reports are to be believed she won’t have much to smile about regarding her involvement (or lackthereof) in the next season of The X Factor USA.

Famously signed up this season for a whopping $15 million, the ‘My Prerogative’ singer failed to rocket the ratings for the Fox show – which continues to trail behind more successful competitors American Idol and The Voice – the latter of which has, up until recently, starred Spears’ longtime rival Christina Aguilera.

According to US Weekly, the show’s producers were banking (quite literally) on getting “bonkers Britney”. What they received instead was a vapid shell of the singer’s former self, boasting all the personality of a boiled egg. Something we feel is amply deserved. For, anyone with a legit ear and eye to the trainwreck that continues to be Britney’s latter day career would have known she hasn’t been “herself” for almost 7 years. As such, joining in on the clear exploitation of an act who clearly needs to not be in the spotlight at present ultimately blew up in many a corporate face. So much so that they supposedly are ready to bin Britney for the show’s upcoming 3rd season.

Of course, it’s imperative to point out that the 31 year old was only ever signed to a one-year deal; a fact which ignites debate as to whether she’d actually be getting “fired” or simply “moving on”. However, in keeping it all the way 100, if her stint was the raving success intended, both parties would be doing bad business by dissolving it. Indeed, the show would continue to benefit from a A-star name, while Britney could reap the reward of weekly exposure without having to embarrass herself with the rigours of doing what most artists have to do – perform. The fact the opposite is seemingly happening speaks volumes.

However this plays out, it serves as yet more proof that ratings aren’t generated by simply throwing money at a format – or in this case, a “lacking” entity.

With budget cuts highly likely for the show, here’s hoping this forces the producers to actually produce a compelling product rather than relying on a barely there judge to do it for them. There are many creative ways to spend $15 million, and as time has shown, Britney Spears isn’t one of them.

Fans in love with the love story of Kal & Tariq or the pressing dramas of CW‘s ‘L.A. Complex’ other characters probably won’t love hearing news of its cancellation.

Indeed, the Canadian show that certainly built its fair share of buzz on the American side of the border, was passed on renewal for a third season by its Canadian parent channel.  Now, American audiences have been handed news that the series will not be renewed on CW either.

Despite series-long earning generally positive reviews, the show courted extremely low viewers on a weekly basis.  This is separate from already holding the record as the lowest-ever ratings for a broadcast drama series premiere.  However, much like CW‘s former hit series ‘The Game’, there is already buzz brewing that the series may be picked up by another channel.

Only time will tell.  (source)

Kim Zolciak made many a headline during her dramatic “exit” from The Real Housewives Of Atlanta recently. And with a confirmed Bravo spin-off titled ‘Don’t Be Tardy’ due to air next year, it seemed all but confirmed that the wig lover had left the franchise behind for good.

Or has she?

In a new interview with Hollywood.com, the original cast member sensationally revealed that she could well be back on the show next year:

“If RHOA gets picked up for Season 6, I would consider returning. My priorities were different [this season], but we’ll see what happens.”

Promising fireworks should such an occurrence take place, the 34 year old added:

“I won’t be pregnant! I’ve been pregnant for the last two years. I can handle my own over the five years [of taping the show], but when I’m pregnant I try to keep myself calm because I have another life to take care of. If I’m taping and I’m not pregnant, I’ll be back to my fiery self.”

**********

With Kim’s initial Tweet about leaving the show stressing that it was her “last episode this season”, we were shocked so many took her “departure” at face value. For us, it merely translated as “should my spin-off show bomb, I’ll be back”.

As per our good sis Funky Dineva, the actual cause of friction between Kim and the rest of the cast was the fact that she was getting paid a similar check and doing a fraction of the “work” (see: excuses, no legit “storyline” etc) – behaviour likely due to the season two pick-up of her ‘Don’t Be Tardy’ spin-off.

In any case, the Bravo checks are reportedly sporting many a zero these days, hence should the network deem her return good for ratings, we can’t see Kim, Kroy, and Sweetie turning it down. As for us, we’d entirely welcome it. The Kim/NeNe drama never ceases to serve up the LOL’s.

We’ll be watching how this unfolds.

It’s UK counterpart may have crash and burned on a ratings front, but that hasn’t stopped Rihanna from readying the launch of ‘Styled To Rock USA‘ next year.

Set to launch on the ‘Style Network’, the fashion series will boast 10 episodes which will see fashion hopefuls from across the US compete in weekly challenges, to be crowned the winner…under the close eye and pupilage of fashion heavyweights.

As one third of Brit trio ‘NDubz’, ‘Sight Of You’ star Tulisa enjoyed three UK Top Ten albums and an impressive 7 Top Ten singles- catapulting the band to the forefront of the market’s Pop scene.

However, since parting ways with the group and joining ITV’s ‘X Factor UK‘, the singer’s public image and the career built around it has failed to live up to expectations-  despite the benefit of the show’s ratings and notoriety

Now, following the failure that was her second single ‘Live It Up’, her brand is on course to crash and burn once again. This time, via her debut album, ‘The Female Boss’.

With Keyshia Cole‘s new album ‘Woman To Woman’ in stores today, the LP’s unique packaging has been unveiled.

Paying homage the various women she is and has been, the Soul-filled songbird looks stunning in the shoot, which was shot by famed photographer Derek Blanks.

As at writing, the ‘Enough Of No Love’ led set is sitting at #12 on iTunes. Strange, given the strong ratings of her on-going BET reality series and warm reception to new single ‘Trust & Believe’.

It is worth highlighting, however, that Cole’s core demographic are statistically more likely to purchase a physical copy rather than digital. Nonetheless, it’ll be interesting to see where the LP bows come next week.

Now, this is black star power!

As previously reported, 2013 is set to debut the star-studded, playwright/director David E. Talbert film ‘Baggage Claim’ starring Tia Mowry, Trey Songz, Morris Chestnut, Taye Diggs, Paula Patton, Octavia Spencer, and more.

Much like the ensemble cast of 2012’s ‘Think Like A Man’, the highly anticipated comedy has assembled some of black America’s best and brightest and as new reports indicate, the assembly is not quite complete.  For now, TV personality Terrence J and singers Jill Scott and Christina Milian have joined the already star-studded cast!

The reports surface shortly after Scott’s last try at film, Lifetime’s ‘Steel Magnolias’ remake, was announced to be a ratings winner – giving the channel one of its highest viewed showings ever.

Ironically, taking her so so vocals into account, Rihanna‘s global success is and always has been routed from her music.

Sure, though her ‘wild and stylishly reckless’ gimmick may keep her more loyal fans tuned in, it’s her ever infectious brand of premium Pop that leaves the world coming back for more time and again.

Unfortunately for her, the same can’t be said for her endeavors outside of the singles chart, forcing many to question how lucrative her brand actually is, when compared to those held by her closest rival, Beyonce.

Not sure what we mean?

Her reality show ‘Styled To Rock’ has been axed, following record breaking ratings lows and a production billed ‘nightmarish’.
