Viewers of Sunday’s BET Awards (June 30) are still buzzing after the nearly 17-minute long tribute to Usher assembled some of Urban music’s best and brightest to toast the R&B superstar’s 30-year career and treasure trove of hits.

Yet, while many took to social media to heap praise on the female-led performance that featured the likes of KeKe Palmer, Victoria Monet, Latto, Chloe Bailey, Marsha Ambrosius, Tinashe, Summer Walker, Teyana Taylor, and Coco Jones, others fled to the platforms to complain about the glaring dearth of testosterone (barring Childish Gambino).

And though some wondered why the likes of Luke James, WanMor, Lucky Daye, October London, Durand Bernarr, and other male R&B crooners weren’t tapped to lend their talents to the moment, the honoree himself was not among those wielding complaints.

Fox Soul show ‘Tea-G-I-F’ typically sees hot topics addressed by its anchors. However, recent times have seen the show and its anchors become the hot topics themselves. Largely in part due to the drama that has erupted in-house.

The show’s creator and lead panelist Claudia Jordan was on-hand at the BET Awards 2024.

That Grape Juice‘s Shar Jossell caught up with the multihyphenate and quizzed her about the status of ‘Tea-G-I-F’ and its future. She also spilled on her experience starring in BET’s ‘College Hill: Celebrity Edition.’

After years of being one of Urban Pop’s most consistent performers Tinashe isn’t only getting her overdue flowers from music lovers but from peers as well.

As her recent hit song ‘Nasty‘ continues its ascent up the Billboard Hot 100 (reportedly set to reach a new peak in the chart’s third quadrant this week), more and more celebrities – from Karamo and Mario Lopez to Azealia Banks and others – are showing their appreciation to the Ricky Reed-produced jam.

For Tinashe, however, the standout shout-outs came from two of her idols: Christina Aguilera and Janet Jackson.
