Pop singer Kelly Rowland stopped by the Today Show yesterday. The 29 year old stunner was there to promote Soul Train’s 40th Anniversary DVD (random, I know) as well as her forthcoming new album. Ms. Kelly looked unbelievably beautiful.
While there Rowland reaffirmed the fact that she is still recording her LP, which sources revealed had a working title of ‘One Woman Show’ – yet is apparently now not called that.

Granted we’re glad to see Kelly being meticulous with the album (recently hitting the studio with Tricky Stewart & The-Dream), this title situation is being stretched a bit much now. For, even her label-mate Nicki Minaj, whose LP is dropping after Kelly’s (November 23rd), has revealed the name of her album.
Yet our dear Ms. Rowland appears to be clinging to the fact that she’s still recording as the reason for the hold-up. However, with the theme of the album being trumpeted for the longest by Kelly herself (“being free, independent, in charge, in command”), there kinda isn’t any excuse any more. I mean, music and video hold-ups are understandable, yet from a business standpoint, knowing the name of the product is essential in ensuring widespread awareness of it BEFORE it’s released. With a November release window being cited, time really is not of the essence.
Also, we’re hearing murmurings that Kelly’s latest recording sessions have been more Urban-geared, kinda calling into question the actual direction of the album – which until now had been touted as a Dance record. There has been some talk of there being two versions of the LP, yet not much in the way of clarity on the matter.
It’s pretty much a given that we love us some Kelly here at That Grape Juice, however it’s important to keep it real. As the case of Keri Hilson showed (see: numerous delays, a million singles, etc), it’s all still to play for. However, things need to start moving…and fast.

All the hold up on the album is cuz they know it’ll prob flop.
Commander is doing ok in the UK so if she did go more dancey on the record it would prob do better over there than the US.
If that rumor of her doing more “urban” songs is true then it means they saw how well the dance thing went for Kelis’ Flesh Tone so their thinking of playing it safe instead and sticking to her roots.

i kinda agree with sam, i mean there should be an album title by now, but every other stuff about the album i think will work out, if she wants to do a two version album then i am not complaining, i love the dance and urban songs so that will be the best approach, however she needs to start promoting her US singles like right now…i dont understand what the hold up is all about , i will cop the album out when it comes out and i wish her all the best.
I love Kelly but im really worried for this album. If she doesn’t give out at least the title of this album people are going to wonder if it will ever be release….. I truly enjoy Commander and Forever and a Day but i don’t think it will work here in the states. Too many close-minded folks out here. The title of this album better be the Sh*t since my girl is truly taking forever and a Day to announce it. Regardless of the fact i do BELIEVE Kelly will have nothing but hits on this album as well. At least we know this time around her label is supporting her. I say kelly should go head and shoot a video for Im that chick instead of Grown women….. Im really happy she’s not going with one woman show as the title cause its just wack to me thank goodness. My girl kelly can come harder than that….. Ms. Rowland needs to be more assertive and decisive, the constant delays and excuses do not bode well with me (if she as an artist does not believe in her s***, why should people give up their hard earned money to buy her s***).

SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RELEASED THE ALBUM. I MEAN THE AMOUNT OF FEMALE R&B/POP ARTISTS RELEASING ALBUMS THIS YEAR HAS BEEN MINIMAL. SHE SHOULD HAVE USED THIS TIME GET HER ALBUM OUT WITH MINIMAL COMPETITION. TBH IF SHE LEAVES IT ANY LONGER PEOPLE WILL FORGET HER ALBUM IS EVEN BEING RELEASED AMONGST ALL THE NICKI MINAJ HYPE.

i agre with you sam and fellow kelly fans…..i love kelly to death but she has the sloppiness about her. that really drained the ms kelly project, how can expect an album to stay on the charts when “like this” didn’t receive a follow up single for several months after its release and did she even perform ghetto live anywhere? now 3rd album same thing, takes forever to decide on a single, takes forever to shoot video, takes forever to release the video(commander)..she hasnt released a proper single stateside yet….i heard she shot GW vid but am not convinced cus for other vids she posted pics, ironic cus GW at least entered a chart while RCG hasnt yet and she performed the letter but not the former which to me has a better chance of becoming a hit..california girls, my first kiss were released after commander in the uk and both have received follow-up singles, its only kelly that takes 2 months to edit her videos which her moderate (want of a better word),just release the damn videos and promote them, release the album already

I may be reaching a bit by saying this, but I think her album is already complete. I just think she is watching what she says, because she doesn’t want any surprises until her album does come out. I also think the album will come before November.

Anyway, as a fan of Kelly I must say I have lost interest in her album. This is not to suggest I won’t buy it when it comes out. However, I am in the states. Awhile back I read Kelly was releasing 2 versions – an urban version of America and dance oriented songs for Europe. How unfortunate that she feels pressure to release 2 versions of this album simply because some folks in the states are so damn close minded. I prefer the European version of her album. Guess, I will have to get it on eBay. And my suggestion to Kelly, she should focus on the markets outside of America. She has had great success. I understand her desire to break into the domestic market, but personally I would just say forget it. She truly can become a great international artist in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia.
Initially, Kelly was on the right track at the start of this year with the promotion, Commander song press and video. During interviews, she was assertive, self assured, engaging, and relatable. She kept the focus on herself and thus I learned more about her. Now, Kelly just seems all over the place and I don’t get it. Therefore, I sort of stop paying attention to her because it’s just unbalance and indecisive. Wish her the best.

Really?…No you didn’t…First off you need not come for people who are MORE relevant than Kelly. Keri gave us DELAYED DATES not “SEASONS”…Kelly keeps saying “FALL FALL FALL”…So don’t come for people that have had bigger and better years than KELLY 🙂 on the SOLO tip.
I recall Keri have MULTIPLE Hits/# 1 Songs (“Knock You Down”, “Turnin’ Me On”, ” I Like”.Etc)….Kelly has had success as well but clearly Keri out shines her. Atleast when Keri kept delaying she was performing on MANY T.v shows…Tours…Features on Songs…Video Appearences Etc…….What the F*** has KELLY DONE?………………Ok then you FAIL…..

Sam, you finally got some balls by actually keeping it real. You ain’t give me 100% but you gave me about 90%. I would prefer Trent’s two cents on this topic though.
I though Kelly was on the right track earlier this year, by releasing a song that caters to her international fanbase, doing promotion by performing in small venues in the states, and receiving major buzz from her leaked music. I think it kinda went downhill went she released that atrocity of a video “Commander.” It was a total “WTF-moment!” She has been in the game for far to long to be releasing such a disaster of a video especially since it could have done way better than in the UK where most of her fanbase resides.
Then she initially self-titled her album, and then went back and asked her fans what she should name it. In addition, she had a release date, then pushed it back, now there is no ‘official’ date. Not only does she not have a title or a release date but she ain’t even finished with her album. I never understand why artists release multiple singles without finishing their album. Rather she knows it or not, anytime before October is the perfect time for her to release her ish without being overshadowed by not only her former DC member but any other female artist.
And I’m sure if this woman was on Matthew’s label and still under his management, her stans would be bitching about it being his fault and his daughter’s fault. Now she has no excuse and no one to blame.
For those of you who (if any of you) follow Kelly on twitter, you need to tell her these things. I remember Kelly saying a while back that she doesn’t visit blogs because of all the negativity (cop-out). So instead of posting your rants here, post them where you KNOW Kelly will see them. She needs to be aware of what those who SUPPORT her are saying. As much as we love you Kelly, we’re getting tired of your bull $#!T. There is absolutely no reason why the public should not have an album title and a solid release date.
Indecisiveness, procrastination, a passive-aggressive nature; none of that is doing Kelly any favors. If her new label and “team” are really as “supportive” as she says they are, then why aren’t things getting done?
I smell Ms.Kelly all over again, and that would be tragic. But, it’s not too late. Get the ball rolling now. Rap up recording, title the album, give us a real and FINAL release date and MAYBE you’ll be able to salvage this thing.
This is all coming from someone who actually wants to see Kelly succeed, and exceed expectations this go round.

It’s not Kelly’s fault ya’ll post invalid information. That just goes to show ya’ll that TGJ and Kelly aren’t that close as ya’ll suggest, and if you ask me, I don’t blame her because if today or tomorrow Kelly’s album were to leak, ya’ll would have it posted in full and ready to download. If something like an unconfirmed title or release date causes you to be impatient, then maybe you aren’t the stan/fan you once thought you were. There’s a world outside of the blogosphere who doesn’t even know she has an album coming out. There is still time for promo especially since Kelly or her team never stated a solid release date.

I agree with the person above who stated that they should talk with Kelly over Twitter @ KellyRowland. Do not send her mean hateful messages, be very polite & couteous & just tell her your ideas. I’m pretty sure she want mind u all’s opinions & concerns even tho she may not agree with everything. It’s all about how you say things to ppl! Maybe u can give her good ideas on how to promote herself on her own or message ideas of song titles for her album. Or if u have a problem with 1 of her previous performances just message her nicely & say I enjoyed the energy & sass in your performance but your voice was a little off tune. These are very important bcuz this can make or break her.
The new album should be called UNITY … simply the best and most underrated song Kelly Rowland has ever recorded ! Any other record label would have released this gem as a single. Can’t wait for Kels to perform Unity live in concert !!!
