No surprises there, then. After all, fast food music has its name for a reason. Still, in a quest to showcase McFenty’s “artistic credibility” ‘The Making of Loud’ is set to be bundled with the album – which hits stores on November 16th.
The irony of the whole shabang is that at no point is the model seen writing or contributing anything of substance creatively. Instead, viewers see the full extent of the ‘team’ which goes into the product that is Rihanna (who was filmed smoking before a performance. I have no words).
An interesting watch, therefore, from that standpoint.

@ Rated X, I don’t think there’s much of a difference between Rihanna smoking and Gaga doing it. Which one would be the 5 star hotel? Gaga does well live, but some notes are loud and off key at times. Rihanna isn’t the best entertainer, she can’t sing while doing any simple movement(unless she whine), but if she stays in her lane she’s okay when the song isn’t too big for her. I think she has to retire “Only Girl”, that doesn’t allow you to see her in the best light. Still I guess she brings something to the table the way Gaga, do for her fans. Rihanna’s music is certainly easier to listen to.

2. She was on key. I know “Raining Men” is not a hard song to sing at all but you’ve bashed her in the past calling her singing horrible on songs like “What’s My Name” where next to no vocal abilities are needed. I’m just saying that she can sing, even to that extent which you’ve said she cannot. Case-and-point, “Raining Men”.
3. Who, honestly, gives a f*** if she smokes? She’s 22, almost 23. She is of legal age so she may smoke if she so pleases.
4. I don’t know what you’re talking about. Rihanna had say in a lot of things. She clearly explained every part of Loud and its direction AND why she felt that Loud should go that direction. If her label had decided that, she would’ve said something to the effect of:
“I’m in a happy place right now, so this album is bright and fun which I’m glad to do”.
But that is not what she said. She made a lot of decisions and gave a lot of direction during both the photoshoots. The tour is different because Rihanna was nearing the end of the Last Girl on Earth Tour and all decisions had been made at that point. Also, everything but vocals were finished for the two songs that were shown being recorded, so obviously, her input was not seen on tape.
But overall, I love this girl to death. When I met her at a book signing a few weeks ago, she showed so much personality in a few seconds. She’s so bright, bubbly, and fun and I really love her sense of humor. I didn’t see what was so funny about the Entertainment joke, and LOL I don’t think she thought it was that funny either.

Even though I don’t care too much for Rihanna, I love how Sam sensationalize the fact that she [Rihanna] smokes before a performance, as if she was about to be caught on camera doing something shady. She clearly stated in the clip that she likes the way it makes her voice all raspy. Although I too, am a singer, I don’t agree with smoking at all. However, people are in charge of themselves. It would have been interesting to see her to some vocal warm-ups instead of sucking on a cough drop. Yeah, I know. I didn’t love their harder sound on their first albums because I just don’t love hard rock music, but their third album was good, just kind of…all over the place. It wasn’t cohesive at all. As for A Thousand Suns, I really loved that it flowed so well. I liked its maturity and I loved the political influence on it.
I really love Bruce Springsteen, but like you, I only know his singles. I think I’d have to become more familiar with his music before I ever see him live. I would like to see Elton John live but my dream would be to see David Bowie. He was just such a mega STAR and he has inspired…everyone. I just wish he would tour again 🙁

I loved everything before Ziggy but the 80s were just a weak time for him, in my opinion, except for “Heroes” and Scary Monsters, like you said. I’ve heard his 90s albums and I liked it a LOT. It’s very rock and experimental and I just thought it was great that he really tried so much out in the 90s.

I never really listened to anything in the 90s. My parents only played stuff like Bowie and Springsteen and I never liked any of the new artists in the 90s. I just think that Britney and the boybands are really one-dimensional.
I always listen to Britney’s music for some reason though. I actually can’t wait to hear her next album though because it is supposed to be very experimental. Then again, Dr. Luke’s producing it LOL. But if Rihanna is fast food music, I don’t know what Britney is.
Something about this new era of Beyonce, Rihanna, Gaga, and Katy is just so fresh and creative to me. It’s insane how much David Bowie influences Gaga though.

I don’t think Loud will sell 400k here but it will definitely go #1. As for the Grammy’s, I just have a feeling that Rated R will be snubbed. I also think Loud will surpass the GGGB era in success, but that will be hard…if a re-release is released, it will definitely surpass it. As for the “S&M” video, it’s supposed to be unexpected so I’m excited.

I was a huge Britney fan when I was little, but when I found out she lip-synced, she was dead to me, lol. And of course, I grew older and my music tastes changed, so people like Britney ceased to appeal to me. And yeah, I’m not a Rihanna fan, but her music has much more variety and maturity than Britney’s. Until she puts out an album on the caliber of Rated R, I will not understand how someone can say her music is better than Rihanna’s.
I look up old performances of Bowie on YouTube, and I can’t help but think “damn, he was the original Lady Gaga!”. I hope Gaga follows his lead musically as well, though. I think she has it in her to make an album on the caliber of Hunky Dory, I just hope she doesn’t allow commercial success to stifle her creativity.

I agree. Rated R was amazing and I don’t see how people can say Britney is better. When she makes an album like Rated R, I think I can jump on Team Britney…maybe. But I do think that Rihanna’s music has a maturity to it that is above Ke$ha and Katy. I think Rihanna is on the level of Beyonce and Gaga. That’s arguable, but I still think that she’s miles above Katy and Ke$ha.
As for Gaga, I agree. Her image is like David Bowie: Female Version LOL. I think it’s funny when people say Gaga is insanely creative. I think she is very creative, but she has been extremely influenced by Bowie and Madonna.
I just am scared about Born This Way. I think it has the potential to be great but RedOne has been doing mainstream songs with her. Hopefully, Fernando Garibay executive producing the album can help. He produced “Dance in the Dark” and that’s probably one of my favorite Gaga songs.
I just don’t know if TFM is Gaga’s second album or an EP, LOL. I get confused. I just think that, eventually, Gaga has to choose whether she wants to have the fame or the creativity. But she has hundreds of millions of dollars, so I hope she chooses the latter, LOL.

I think that “Fading”, “Cheers” and “Raining Men” will see the single treatment and then she’ll release two more singles from a re-release sometime next year or 2012.
I really don’t see a sixth album coming from her for a while – she only releases albums quickly when the one before that did badly. Except for this. She’s releasing Loud so quickly because she’s moved on from the Rated R feel.
I think “Only Girl” could get a nod at the 2012 Grammys (it missed the cutoff date for the 2011 Grammys) but I see it more for Best Dance Recording.

Agreed. The reason I wouldn’t put Rihanna in the league of Gaga and Bey is because of her live performances, but her music is surprisingly good for mainstream pop. Ke$ha is trash (cue the stan that will come to defend her) and Katy showed promise on One of The Boys. But I don’t think she really cares about evolving artistically at this point. I mean, Teenage Dream only has three good songs on it, the rest is disposable as best.
As for Gaga, I think she is serious about proving herself as an artist. I can’t imagine that she would allow herself to just fall into the league of most of the pop singers out there and just churn out generic music just for the sake of selling well.

Ke$ha is funny to me because I think she’s fine with being gone any week now and she’s just having fun with her 15 minutes while it lasts. As for Katy, OOTB was actually pretty good and I was really anticipating her second album but Katy seems like she just wants to stack up the #1’s and it’s unfortunate.
I’m never worried about Beyonce because she obviously intends to be an icon and she’s on her way to that while Gaga just does not seem like the kind of artist that will let her ability go to waste and become your generic pop artist. Imma hit yall with the truth. Rihanna tracks are just for right now, they dont have longevity power. I know good music when i hear it and on that loud album the only good songs on it are just three. Two excellent and one quite good. Whats my name California king bed then fading are those three while the rest is honestly corny trash. Overrated trash. Love the way you lie screams desperation, did not deserve a recycling at all. All in all its an okay album, like her attempt to bring something different but not good good quality. Most of these songs will touch top 10 no doubt but hitting #1 won’t come easy cos WMN is the rude boy of loud and they obviously know that and rode with that from experience of rr. Fading got me cracking though, was she trying to throw shade? I swear the way the songs are on this album i think her emotions are everywhere, its not consistent but she tried some people will like it but it won’t hit big big big like her delusional ass thinks. I like her songs at first listen but after a while i feel scared to listen to it cause her voice is harsh,repetitive, strong it kinda starts scaring me so i don’t usually mess with her records for too long. Most importantly this is album will make people really give her a second eye because she cant mimick this voice live, its impossible for her to do so cause they are heavily digitally enhanced its actually scary the way and extent they did cause its actually coming back to hunt her.
