Check out this new promotional shot for for Beyonce‘s eagerly anticipated ‘4’ LP. Preceded by singles ‘Run The World (Girls)’ and ‘Best Thing I Never Had’, the album is set for lift-off just three weeks from now (June 28th).
Randomness: Surely I can’t be the only one who’s a little alarmed by how soon the project’s release has come around. Yes, the tide is better now (see: Billboard performance, Idol, and great reception of ‘Best Thing I Never Had’). However it’s impossible to ignore the shaky start and ultimate poor charting of ‘Run The World (Girls)’.
Given B’s status, there is a certain sales expectation the masses will no doubt hold her to. Whether a June release, given the drama, will allow for that will be interesting to see.

This whole era is gonna be bad for Beyonce. She released the wrong 1st and 2nd single, and there is no real general hype around this album. Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Britney Spears, they all had just general hype and anticipation surrouning the releases of their albums. I don’t get that feeling with 4. 1+1 should’ve been the 1st single, then End of Time, the Run the World and then Best Thing I Never Had. The album is being released this month, she should’ve been promoting 4 since like February. She needs to stop being so reserved and hop her ass on Twitter, FaceBook, YouTube, get some companies to endorse like Gaga, Taylor and Britney. Beyonce is very talented, but she still needs to be promoted well if she wants to sell. Look at artists like Ciara, Christina Aguilera, Jazmine Sullivan. They are all talented, but they weren’t promoted well and their albums didn’t sell well.

Why do female artist always have to compete! Why can’t there be more than one female artist on top of the charts? Why does Rihanna always have to be brought up when Beyonce is concerned, and vice versa. I know alot of this has to do with the owner of this site which is completely silly and immature but still. Anything in the 450,000 to 650,000 range would be good b/c that’s comparable to the first week sales of her prior albums and all three went on to be successful hit albums. Personally, I hope and expect her fans and music fans in general will continue to support her. She is one of the few talented vocalists out there who puts on a good show with stage presence, vocals and choreography and always releases overall good albums. People can make all kinds of complaints about Beyonce but you can’t deny the fact that she is talented and hard-working. I think those qualities will keep her on top. BTW, anyone already calling “The Best Thing..” a flop has no opinion of importance b/c if you can’t comprehend the fact that the song has only been out for a couple of days and hasn’t had anytime to perform yet then your opinion about anything doesn’t count.

Beyonce may very well sell a million copies or more in her first week. But, will it equal the sales of her earlier works? I highly doubt it. That’s what the industry is looking for. A million or more copies is good, no doubt. But, come on, this is Beyonce! Their expecting her to blow it out of the box. “Dangerously In Love” sold over 11 million copies worldwide. This was her biggest selling CD to date. “B’Day” sold over 5 million copies and “I Am….Sasha Fierce” sold over 7 million copies worldwide. The latter two CD’s did very well, but if you noticed, neither one has been able to reach the level of, “Dangerously In Love”. This is what the industry wants from her. If she can act least top, “B’Day” and “I Am….Sasha Fierce” in sales, she’s be good to go. If her new CD sells less then, “B’Day” and “IASF”, then the industry will consider it a “flop”. It doesn’t matter if she sells a million copies or more in her first week. The industry is
also looking for overall sales. It remains to be seen as to what will happen.

Thanks for the compliment, I continue to write supportive comments on Beyonce b/c I respect her as a vocalist and performer and I think so many people hate on her for no good reason. I use to comment opinions on entertainers whether it was negative or positive but only based on my honest opinion and never with a desire to see them fail or to hate on anyone. A while back I decided to take it a step further and made a conscious decision to try my best to not post negative opinions on entertainers even if it’s just my opinion (although it is very tempting to do so at times). I just think that it’s not realy right to be too harsh or negative because all of these entertainers are people with feelings, friends, and family. So now I try to practice the old rule that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything. And when I see a talented artist like Beyonce getting a lot of undeserved negative comments, I have to add my two cents!

@SHAWN101, I think you need to do some research. If I’m correct, Beyonce’s past albums had good numbers, lingering around or above gold certification for her first week sales but she did not sell one million in the first week. Of course her albums all ultimately became multi-platinum selling albums, just not platinum in the first week. Platinum/one million in the first week is rare in the music industry. I suspect that her record company will expect this album to sell somewhere around 500,000 the first week. That would not be a flop, that would be considered a solid first week and well on the way to platinum status (easily within the first month). I think some of you are trying to increase expectations so you can call it a flop even if it performs well and at reasonable expectations.
@Anne – I was basically giving her figures per CD worldwide. What you said was correct. I don’t dispute that. But again, I was speaking about what each CD did worldwide. She may sell over 500,000 in her first week, which is certified as gold. And, as you said also, she may be on her way to platinum status within a month. That’s good. But, the point I was making, is that the “industry”, not me, the fans or the “stans”, will be looking for high numbers. Especially, considering that this is her comeback. She sold over 7 million copies of “IASF”. If anything, their more than likely looking for her to surpass, “IASF”. If it sells anywhere between 1-5 million, that is very good, no doubt. But, the point I’m making is, they want her to surpass her last CD. If it falls below that, it’s still considered good, but not exactly “great”.
@Anne – When you look at her solo CD’s from the very beginning up until now, each CD started selling less than the previous. There’s alot of expectation for her to do extremely well in terms of sales for this CD. Not only domestically, but overseas as well. In others words, with people calling her, “King B” and all, people are even expecting her to surpass Lady GaGa, Adele, Britney Spears, Rihanna and Katy Perry when it comes to sales.
Beyonce has not really surpassed Alicia Keys in sales let alone Gaga Adele et al I think she needs a film,…. Thank god she is doing the remake of A star is born nxt yr with Will Smith

I’m sure the album will be fine and go platinum, however, I suspect this will be her lowest selling album. The singles have NOT been well received. Most people have not even heard the official SECOND single yet that was released only a few days ago. Can’t believe so many people are jumping to conclusions this fast. I think you guys should be a little more cautious about counting Beyonce out. I don’t expect her to outsell everyone but I do expect her to be highly competitive and I think the “industry” has similar expectations.
