New Song: The Dream – ‘Roc’

Amidst building a career of blessing fan favorites Rihanna, Beyonce, and more with a bevy of club bangers, Hip Hop hitmaker The Dream looks to ring 2012 in with a bang of his own.   Using his summer 2011, digital only release ‘1977’ to tide fans over between his third and fourth studio albums, it seems the Atlanta native  is ready to serve his fourth round’s appetizer with ‘Roc’ – the lead single from his fourth album ‘The Love, IV: Diary of a Madman’.

Reportedly boasting some of his ‘most personal material to date’, is ‘Roc’ what the rapper/singer needs to roll him back to the top of the charts?  You be the judge after the jump:

Always interesting how some producers who craft some of the day’s best known hits can’t lend themselves the same favor.  For Nash may not exactly be the best singer or lyricist, some of his previous offerings have certainly offered a little more ear candy than ‘Roc’.  Admittedly radio friendly, this still just sounds like rehash casserole and lyrical leftovers.

Here’s hoping this isn’t indication of what the rest of his IV-go-round boasts. Because it’s just not cute when the joints on your FREE mixtape go harder than what you’re trying to make the listening public buy.

The Dream is his own biggest cheerleader which is a very good thing. His first two albums were very solid. Now he has become too comfortable and his lack of creativity in his most recent work shows that. I wish him all the best but in same token he better step up his game because this b******* is not cutting it.
