Madonna’s ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’ Smashes US Radio

Published: Saturday 4th Feb 2012 by David

The Queen is back!

Indeed, in what has become another notch under Madonna‘s commercial belt, her latest single ‘Give Me All Your Luvin‘ has commanded a 14 million audience on US radio, a day after being released to its stations.

Details  below…

To be exact, ‘Luvin‘ reached a total of 14.262 million listeners yesterday following the release of its video, which features Rap star Nicki Minaj and Brit sensation MIA.

This places the cut alongside a select number of songs which have fared this well in this space of time. Two name two, 2006 saw Beyonce‘s ‘Deja Vu‘ make major waves with an audience of 10 million in a single day, followed by Mariah Carey‘s 2008 cut ‘Touch My Body‘ with 7 million.

While this is no doubt a commendable feat for the ‘Frozen‘ icon, it is worth noting that her label recently inked a deal with  the Clear Channel conglomerate, which guarantees the song will be played at non stop on the stations they own.

This, despite the transparency  of the deal, has forced some to question how well ‘Luvin’ would have done had it not been put in place.

Either way, credit should be given where it’s due, so on behalf of everyone here at That Grape Juice, a big congratulations to Madonna.

Naturally. Anything with Madonna’s name on it is bound to be a success, whether or not it’s quality material.

  2. Teacher February 4, 2012

Congrats Madonna!…..TGJ staff are all B******!

  3. mhud February 4, 2012

I hope she strikes while Iron is hot cause a good single won’t turn into album sales unless she does interviews puts out singles every month and preform on talk shows. In this day and age if your not seen no one will care about her CD

  4. JER February 4, 2012

OR how about a few months ago “You Da One” logged 13 million. No one cares what BeYAWNce tried to do 6 years ago

  5. PYTFROMAL February 4, 2012

Lol. So her label paid for people to play the song nonstop?? Some feat. What a joke.

  6. WhyThough February 4, 2012

OH at JER Mentioning Beyonce, so pressed, leave her be please and worry about Rihanna, she’s a great artist, why bash others? Enjoy her music

  8. MNBL February 4, 2012

this has to be a joke this song is getting so much bad reviews are you all kidding me this just shows us that real music is dead.

  9. Jay February 4, 2012

I love Madonna but not a huge fan of the song although I’m glad it’s doing well. She needs major radio play like any artist to make a song a hit. I’m hoping that her second single is Turn Up the Radio b/c that song will be pure fire…this one is just to get her foot in the door with a younger audience…the second one will be her true creative choice.

  10. JohnVidal February 4, 2012

Wow it´s so easy to have a fast hit nowadays. Just put the current “it” artist or producer as a feature and the same basic- dance-electro-pop music that everybody makes since 2008 and there you have it. I would have loved for Madonna to bring a great and mature song.
Anyway I just checked itunes and the song is at #11 in teh USA, not #1, did it get the #1 over there since it was released? Just asking

  11. Rock$ February 4, 2012

Madonna! Lol like really now?**I Take A Bow…Do We Have Haters In Da House? Please Take Your seats,Mind You its glued…Weather You Love Or Hate Her This Grand Ma Runs This Business!

  12. ASDP February 4, 2012

she runs this business in your mind Madonna is done, finished, over the only reason she is getting any attention is because of the super bowl performance she is doing after that she will be over and so will her single.

  13. ChristinasCOMING February 4, 2012

I can’t get over how HOT MIA is in this video!

  14. MovieAmi February 4, 2012

While I am a huge Madonna fan, I will say that I don’t love the song. It’s ok at best. Hated it when I heard the demo and have only slightly warmed to it.

    ………….BUT………….

I DO love to see the detractors get smacked by its doing well. Reports like this and how her album is #1 in 53 countries I know has some Madonna haters agitated. And to me that more than makes up for my not loving the song!

    Rock on Madonna!

  15. Cockiness February 4, 2012

  16. jamie February 4, 2012

The video was very engaging and entertaining. The song—not so much. Nicki or MIA weren’t really needed.

  19. Dope or nope February 4, 2012

Congrats Madonna! Hey at least she is making a come back.. Unlike other people *coughs* lil Kim

@nahjee that’s a little to much I say 145,000 first week album sells

    Anyway Madonna gets a DOPE!

Good luck at the super bowl

  20. Bey is Legend February 4, 2012

the album’s not yet released and it’s faring better than the single, thats the benefit of longevity hopefully there”ll be gems on it. girls gone wild sounds promising. madonna could’ve at least included some potent lyrics on that rubbish loving song.

  21. laos February 4, 2012

rihannas gonna wipe the floor clean with old madge!!!

  22. spunkypoop2001 February 4, 2012

I am a huge fan of both Madonna and Janet Jackson, so please when I say this do not attack me. I called clear channel radio stations in 2008 to request Janet’s “Feedback” and Madonna’s “4 Minutes” and was told by various DJ’s that they don’t play them, they are too old and no body is requesting them, so all of a sudden 4 years later they are playing Madonna non stop on these same exact stations that said they don’t play them. I smell B*******!

Michael jackson couldn’t even get AirPlay when he was alive and when he died. Janet jackson who was headed towards a great comeback, and due to the Super Bowl, clear channel banned her from all formats across the world. I smell BULLLshit!

I’m gonna call it as I see it. It’s prejudice period point blank. How can a 53 year old get more AirPlay then any other commercial artist out now. It’s all a conspiracy to make Madonna, the biggest star on the planet. People wake up and I loveeeeeeeeee Madonna, that’s my b**** but right is right and wrong is wrong. Clear channel should be called out for doing such unfair tactics.

  23. Anne February 4, 2012

L-U-V Madonna! Have to admit that I’m not in love with the song (it’s good enough to peak my interest, I like the music, sounds like 80’s pop’s but it’s not much of a vocal effort- a bit hollow IMO) though I’m happy for Madonna. I have 25 of her hits in my M** player and this new song doesn’t measure up to hits like Crazy For You, Don’t Tell Me, Papa Don’t Preach, Human Nature, Dress You Up, La Isla Bonita, Borderline, Into the Groove, Live To Tell….I could go on but I guess you get the point. On the other hand, based on the low bar set by a lot of todays so-called hits, I’d rather see Madonna sitting at the top of the charts. She’s cranked out so many hits in the past and it’s impossible for any artist to top themselves every time when they’ve had a certain level of success. She’s paved the way for so many others, glad to see her back on top. Looking forward to checking out the rest of the album.

  24. RDK February 4, 2012

    gratz to madge,mia and nicki.

  25. ♛ pop royalty ♛ ( iMusic ) February 4, 2012

so they paid for her songs to be played non-stop and it smashes ?!

so where’s the big deal ?!

I love madonna , and i don’t support this single. i bought it only cuz M.I.A. was there and i loved M.I.A’s moment !!

and i loved her ” Bad girls” vid too !!

    i don’t like this cheesy single 😐

  26. QueenSize February 4, 2012

In the Marilyn Monroe scene…Madonna looks about 20 years old there. How the f*** did that happen? I actually like the song without Nicki or M.I. A. Neither feature added to the song. It’s youthful and energetic.

  27. RDK February 4, 2012

    @BEY is Legend :

    GGW is anything but promising.

it is celebration pt. 2 ! i’m so disappointed as a madonna loyal fan 🙁 , how can a great icon like her do decisions like this , ok i know others made dumb s*** ” like Mariah teaming up with Justine , etc …” , but seriously , someone like her shouldn’t do this type of actions.

what is she trying to prove ?! 😯

i want my “ROL” and “COADF” madonna back !!

  29. Anne February 4, 2012

SPUNKYPOOP2001, IF YOU ARE REALLY A “HUGE MADONNA” FAN BE HAPPY FOR INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON A CONSPIRACY THEORY? And this is coming from an African American female who use to rewind my VHS recording of Pleasure Principal over and over to watch Janet dance and who also remembers seeing Motown 25 when it aired and thinking Michael gave the best performane ever. I know both, especially Michael, made a hell of a mark but this is a good moment for Madonna and she deserves it no matter what.

  30. Joke. February 4, 2012

What’a joke this woman is. Her contract includes a promise to play the song non-stop, despite what people ACTUALLY want to hear.

This song Absolute sh*t. Insults Nicki & M.I.A’s talent.

The way she handles herself in this vid, you can see how desperate she is to stay ‘cool’ with the kids. Reminds me of why my Grandma tried to lear the Macarena back in the day. #Loserdon’ttranishyourself.

I thought people were saying madonna was done?

so now they are claiming any pop song with a hot producer automatically makes it a hit?

she’s madonna..even if this album sells 2 copies, guess what? she still will be outselling all ur favs…

same goes for janet, mariah, britney, celine, and whitney….none of them ever have to sell another album in their life…

@RATEDX( LEGENDS ARE BORN NOT BOUGHT)

Difference being, the general public is still checkin’ for Whitney, Britney, Mariah, Celine, & Janet … Hell, I hear mom ppl wanting new music from Cher.

Madonna proves success can be bought with this clear channel deal. If she let it rest, she wouldn’t seem like such a fool.

Madonna vs. Ke$h now seems like a fair comparison, because truth is if Madge is gonna release sh*t like this, then she’s on her knees letting Gaga take her crown.

Madonna is pulling a lil’ Kim. Talk smack about the new generation, but doin’ nothing to maintain her control.

God Help us, Mariah better have a better comeback then this!! (at the very less Mariah’s got beauty and talent, so it’s already fairing better, with almost no specifics about her new album.)

  35. Spunkypoop February 4, 2012

I am extremely happy for her! I am glad she is smashing records at 53! but on the other side of things, right is right and wrong is wrong.

  36. Jenissa February 4, 2012

Dead at some of these detractors. Her “deal” is no different than what Gaga, Rihanna, Katy, Beyonce, Mariah, Britney, and every other major pop star on a major out there has had. Look it up. Yet she reached #2 in the record books for the biggest single day plays. Leave it to some people here to try to put an asterisk next to her accomplishment. Some of these folks were the same claiming that Gaga didn’t cheat selling her album for 99c or the many other deals she had. Madonna’s #1 across the globe and it’s on pre-sales alone in just one day! What excuse are we going to have for that then?

“Madonna’s success proves it can be bought” LOL. Coming from a Mariah fan? You know the major actual payola & tricky tactics that were going on in the ’90s with Tommy Mottola as head of Sony?

No matter what some say, you can’t erase 30 years of a massive success that’s made Madonna the most successful female artist of all time and the most successful solo touring artist of all time.

I like the majority of the female pop stars out there (yes, I like Janet too), but the amount of unfair hate Madonna gets is just nonsense.

  37. Arielhoward26 February 4, 2012

    I luv Madonna!!!
She looks great in the video. I don’t like the song as much as I hoped 🙁

  38. Theman February 4, 2012

Did they really make a deal with clear channel radio? iF so that is disappointing.

  39. whut February 4, 2012

so what she did is no different than Gaga’s 99 cents stunt. they bought their positions on the charts. some comeback…

  40. Anne February 4, 2012

@JENISSA, Co-sign 100%. How many other songs in the present or past are receiving massive airplay because of a “deal”?– countless! How many other songs get massive airplay and STILL don’t sell much or even the parent album? –countless! Deal or no deal, no one is being forced to buy her songs or album. There’s nothing disappointing about her recent success, haters are just trying to minimize her shine. If it was your fav you would not be complaining about a “deal”.

  41. Jay February 4, 2012

Re: SPUNKYPOOP 4 Minutes was on the radio constantly in my city back in 2008. Pop, Urban-Pop and AC stations. It peaked at Number 3 after all. Madonna proves age shouldn’t matter for any diva. I’m in my 20’s and love Madge even if this new song is just ok

  42. Lax February 4, 2012

Legend’s are not born they are made, look it up?Why is it so hard for
many to accept another growth and their rise up the charts? It seem
theres a group who is trying desperately to play madonna’s much
success down. Artist like her are kept women by their own accord.
She’s going to sell off her name and then some. And those who
calls her old and outdated had better make for sure that their ticker
is still beating at the right pace when they get her age. Another thing
you can ask yourselves if you have accomplished and did as much
as she has in her career climv. Some one mentioned her singing
pop music is what helped her to get to where she is today so she
aims to please. It was always some mess when she was in her
prime and every one and their army went after madonna with
loaded words to try and take her out but through it all she is still
standing. The body of work she’s getting ready to serve up is a
reflection of who she is and what she has become as a parent and
i am certain that her children helps to keep her young in mind and
at heart. She is well on her way to making the charts light up with her
music and this is going to be wonderful to see. I might be wrong but
i believe that madonna and janet have long ago let that mess between
melt away since they are both iconic figures in their own right. When
you are in the spot light like they are it is easy for a slip of the lip to
occur at any time and any place. While many are concerned about
who sold what and who is going to be the biggest artist at the end
of this year you had better be getting your houses in order with all of
the mishaps going on around the world. These artist are all in it for
the money and they are getting paid and we are blessed to have
more than one artist in the world. The world would be tiresome if
we only had western or opra music to listen to. That is why they say
different strokes for different folks. That is why they have black and white,
pink and purple. That is why we have numbers how would we count our
money if we only had zero’s? Why do we have pop artist and rock artist?
Life is worth living and life is great with the giant melting pot that we all
live happy ever after in. The world with it giant melting pot allows for fat people, skinny people and if people would just try and get along smiling hmmmm not
in this life, getting along and agreeing to disagree is not in the playing card not
    at this time and place.

    of the excitement for me.

    Ps
Dam i wished i could serve them coffee
and keep their mirrows clean for them,
on some video shoots. Hmmm perhaps
i will put a request in and see if i can’t
apply to work with Rihanna and her Team.
Smiles and stop typing to look around for
a loose CANNON to run up on me and unplug
the dell from the main power supply….Dang
Loose Cannon & Air Heads Stays on the
Look Out for Artist they dislike to try and do
Drive By’s on the One’s they Dislike to try and
make you like what they like in their Favorite
    Artist, smiles…….

  45. Royalkev February 4, 2012

I have heard about this deal Madonna has with Clear Channel and if that’s accurate news (which I believe it is) then it was a no brainer that this song would recieve record breaking airplay spins. I don’t have anything against older artists that manage to remain relevant, heck make records til your 80 if you do it well! There shouldn’t be a cut off point for aging artist that continue to make great music. I just believe that everyone should earn their success. It’s disappointing to see artists resorting to desperate measures and cutting corners. It’s cheating, and it’s the reason why you see everyone being handed hits and obtaining #1 chart positions like a dollar bill being tossed around in a stripper joint – but on the other hand having sluggish album sales. This is why numbers don’t match up with the supposed “demand” for these artists. It’s all about strategy and manipulating the public. People buy into the hype and jump on bandwagons once they believe that certain acts are successful. It’s marketing. I don’t see a strong interest in this song, but I think Madonna’s on a team that can basically have her dominate radio and therefore the world. So, I don’t find any of her “accomplishments” impressive. Still, I would hope that Madonna would want to take herself a little more seriously as an artists. She should be more willing to school these artists that admire her career on what it means to be a real “artist” with her experience than join them in doing the same trickery. It’s sad that she seems more interested in relying on other things to ensure her success.

  46. Anne February 5, 2012

What you guys are calling a “deal, “trickery”, or “cheating” sounds more like a smart business move to me. There is no such thing as an even playing field in this world. Madonna would be a fool not to take advantage of connections while others are sure to be savvy enough to do so and benefit from doing so, why shouldn’t she? It’s about the music but at the same time the industry is like any other sector of business. Some of these comments are naive and unrealistic. There’s nothing unethical about making smart business moves that give you an advantage. Some of you are being way too dramatic over the issue.

  47. Jia February 5, 2012

Clear channel is playing the song every hour on the hour because madonna paid for it. Will it translate to sales? I don’t know. I think it sucks.

  48. Ass February 5, 2012

Why people actin like they don’t know Madonna has been part of payola for years. This is not anything new. She is aware that she can’t sell on her mediocre material, so she makes theae deals for play, because she knows the sheep will buy her s*** and call it sugar.

She has a great back catalogue but her her last album and this one(from what I’ve heard so far) are trash.

Congrats on your bought and paid for accolades. Notice how she is the only one in the icon AND legend club not spoken well if by her peers, accross the board.

She’s the only one that is a walking contradiction a legend who’s a gimmick. Even playing up the Madonna/ w**** thing based on her name for sales.

    Do better legend.

If you are the queen such tactics hardly seem necessary. Stan on the merit of your output.

Like I said she is a legend at marketing and deserves an honorary degree in marketing, that’s her real #1 talent….

  49. Ass February 5, 2012

Phuckin and sucking for dj spins in NYC in the 80’s>>>>>> paying for spins at radio now

Natural pergression for the ultimate in gimmickry.

Not hating her hustle. Just hating that she has the nerve to talk s*** about anyone with what she does….

    Hilarious.

This how you make an ALBUM OF THE DECADE, monsters!!!!

  51. aishaaguilerakeys February 5, 2012

She wouldn’t be the first to use such measures. That is all.

  52. Saetana February 5, 2012

I think she might have made a mistake with this Clear Channel deal – this is the sort of song that seems catchy at first but its going to get old and annoying really fast. She’ll get the impulse buyers who hear a song and buy it pretty much straightawat but I never buy a single unless I still like it in at least 3 months time – unless I’m buying the album, which I always stream several times first, I give NOBODY the benefit of the doubt, every artist has had at least one crap album during their career, more for those with long careers like Madonna and I am not planning on buying any crap albums.

And cut out the ageist remarks people, there are plenty of reasons to slag off this single without resorting to cheap shots, its not age that counts it is the quality of the music ;o)

  53. TruthTeller February 5, 2012

    Credit for what?
Clear chanel is the largest radio conglomerate in the world and they have a deal to play the song at the top of EVERY hours in EVERY station they own.

So it s the same as just paid advertisement.

It is NOT like MC’s TMB or Beyonce Deja Vu who really had real anticipation and didn t open big because of a payola-light deal.

Let s see how it performs on its own before congratulating that bitter woman.

U’d think with the way this song is being forced fown our throats thru clear chanel & the superbowl promo she d b #1 on itunes by now…. but she s already out of the top10 & syill falling…

Madonna is about to find out what Beyonce found out last year: No amount of promo can turn pure trash into gold.

Radio stations can play her song all day, every day, but it doesn’t mean ppl are going to buy it. They have to buy it to make it a hit & apparently that’s what ppl are doing.

  58. Ass February 5, 2012

The last comments poste under my name were by a phony! Like I said, time has proven people will buy s*** and call it sugar, if they are programed to! Like once every hour on the hour a day! That’s the point of adverts!

You know this @FAKEASS! that’s why your hiding behind my screen name moron!

@RoyalKev your comments are on point as well.

  59. Ass February 5, 2012

And for the record it is cheating. When your chart positions are based on sales AND radio play. That makes it cheating for those who don’t get what I’m saying.

It’s buying accolades and achievements no matter how you slice it.

She’s not the only one, but that doesn’t make her smell any better, especially since she’s a legend.

  60. MovieAmi February 5, 2012

LOL@the haters trying to desperate to counter this. The Clear Channel deal is only for PARTICIPATING stations. Meaning that not every CC station is involved, nor were any of them forced to participate. Those that are are doing at their own discretion. Furthermore, CC deals are customary in the world of commercial top 40. Madonna is hardly the only one out right now with one. However, again, these deals are largely voluntary participation…no station is being forced to play her song.

In the meantime, what isn’t “fixed” (LOL) is the fact that her album is #1 in 53 countries. Would your favorites forthcoming album be so anxiously anticipated that preorders for it would dominate 53 counties? Probably not. 😉

    #Fail. Try again haters. 😆

  61. Ass February 5, 2012

You all love to throw around that word hater. Get a clue. Stating facts is not hating. I said she is not the only one, but as a legend she should not be participating in this shadiness, point blank, period.

If she wasn’t high on the iTunes charts after all the interviews, releasing the single and video on the same day, plus all the free promo the superbowl provides, that would be the shocker, so what’s your point on that.

Lastly, keep bringing up peoples “faves” to prop up her and he fuckery.

The radio adds are bought and paid for. Deal.
** By the way show receipts that it’s optional for stations to play her. Contracts are usually not that broad within the confines of the same company, corporate guidelines, and signing parties. So I doubt any of that, part of your story is true.

Don’t try to save face it stinks to high hell…

For a two day total of +29.801. Madonna is demolishing radio.

  63. OctoberNite February 5, 2012

Look at all these bitter stans of lessors, mad because their favs couldn’t and aren’t. As far as the CC thing goes. *shrugs* So? Methinks they wouldn’t have made the deal if they didn’t think she was worth it. “Hate the game, not the player.”
