Ester Dean takes on Bonnie Raitt‘s ‘I Can’t Make Me Love You’ in aid of her debut album this week, set for launch next year.
Giving a unique spin to the well loved song, Dean’s cover marks the first cut to be released from her Interscope fronted project, billed ‘Story Never Told’.

No. She did not make Rihanna. Esher Dean gave an interview with the new yorker, where she spoke of wanting to be a solo singer. The New yorker also interviewed Stargate ( rih’s producers ) and this what they said of esther dean wanting to be a star. ” Many songwriters cam sing, some are really great, but that does not make you a star. I have to be able to want to watch you’ etc. I agree with Stargate, there is not an ounce of star quality in Esther dean. So, no, she did not FUCKING make Rihanna.

No hate to Ester, but there are some songs you just shouldn’t mess with and this is one of them. Everyone eo has covered it like Tank, Bon Iver, Adele, Kelis etc. has stayed true the emotion of the Bonnie Raitt classic, but this has destroyed it. Really disappointed.

This is dreadful! I don’t care how good Ester is singing her own songs, when singing someone elses it has to match your tone and this doesn’t and the dance beat just adds to the horror.

Interesting spin on the song. Not my cup of tea. She gave her sound to Rihanna, and I don’t see her becoming a star because A.) She doesn’t have sex appeal B.) her sound is already out there, and the girl associated with it has already moved on from it.
