Remember Alexis Jordan? We introduced you to her back in 2011.
Signed to Roc Nation, the 20 year old US native enjoyed success in Europe upon the release of her debut single ‘Happiness’ and her self-titled album.
Having spent much of the last year working on her sophomore effort (which also dubs as her debut on home-soil), the South Carolina native is back with new single ‘Acid Rain’.
Produced by Stargate, penned by Sia (the dream-team behind ‘Diamonds’), the high-ocane track features Jordan’s label-mate J.Cole.
Does the budding star’s latest offering pack a punch enough to propel her to the status of Roc sisters Rihanna and Rita Ora? Judge for yourself below…
Via: 730.no
Despite boasting all the ingredients of a mega-smash on paper, the track still feels like chicken with no seasoning, cereal with no milk, bread with no butter. Edible? Yes. Filling? Not so much.
Still, given the current climate, the production positions this in the melting pot of what’s “hot” on radio, hence with the right backing it could work.

I don’t think I made it past the first 8 seconds before I turned it off. LOL@this coming on the heels of JT’s “Suit & Tie” slayage. Makes this kind of “music” seem all the more dumb and unnecessary to bother with. Pretty girl though. Hope she finds her niche, but that song ain’t it.

This is horrible, sounds like an Only Girl in the World horrible mimic.
When is Jay-Z going to learn, Rihanna is unique, you cannot recreate her. If Alexis what’s her name wants a career, she should sign with a different label (preferably Interscope) because the drug dealers at Roc Nation are clueless.

Alexis has an undeniable voice…unlike Rita or Rih. Her only disadvantage is not being a “bad girl”. No one appreciates a talented girl who appear their age…black girls need more sluts to look up to.
Great song, ROC Nation just has to position it and her for optimal visibility and not be afraid to market her as the antithesis to their top female acts.

Dear Sam,
We may need a “Product vs Promotion” on all those ROC artists Rita Ora, J. Cole, Melanie Fiona and Alexis Jordan because when all is said and done, they’re NOT doing well AT ALL.
Jay-Z needs to get his clique together. Princess Ganja might be all kinds of extra, but hey, she has a 12 #1 under her … well, under her whatever since she’s always naked…
Anyway my point is, Roc Nation is sleeping while Young Money and Good Music are popping big time. Not cute.

On first listen, it seems a little empty but after the second play the chorus really works and the beat bangs so hard in the clubs i feel like this would smash a dance floor, i like it its different thats why the first listen is a bit sketchy cos your not sure whether it works but it foes.. well done to here for those that don’t know her she released some brilliant dance tracks from her first album shes got so much potential

The girl is pretty and has a better voice than Rita but she is with a wrong label. I believe Interscope or Capitol can really do wonders for her career. Roc Nation has no successful artists in their roster other than Kanye.

As someone above me said the song does seem empty, with a good video though it may do well.
P.S: Jay Z and the men who run Roc nation are very color struck, dark skin girls sell too Jigga.

I stopped listening after the first verse. Nothing sets this apart from the other crap on the radio. It may be something cool to dance to while intoxicated, but I’d never listen to this in my leisure time.

J Cole’s part is amazing, and Alexis has such a great voice (and doesn’t sound like Sia at all) but this beat is giving a headache! What is the point of bringing a popstar who does exactly what the others do! Can’t wait for this trend to end!

OMG, I seen this girl years ago and thought she and Rita was the same person, lol. Cause I remember Jay signing a chic and thought she just changed hair color. But her and Rita are the same, just flops. Now this is the girl you compare Rita to, same level, same label (again, Rihanna is not sign to Roc Nation). But sadly, I think she’s the Tearria Marie of the two. (anybody remeber her? lol)
