Katy Perry‘s new single ‘Rise’ may be an Olympics promotion, but that hasn’t stopped the Pop force from giving it the “all-out” treatment.

Case in point the commissioning of a music video.

Little is known about the visual, yet that looks set to change with the arrival of an official trailer.

The teaser serves as the first clip from the singles queen’s in two years.

What is set to look like? Find out after the jump…

Katy’s return certainly adds to what has been an increasingly busy time in the upper echelon of the music industry.

It’ll be uber interesting to see if a traditional return to the charts will follow soon after ‘Rise’s run.

Pending an answer…

Dear god: please let Katy on Lip-sing this track. If she decides to SING LIVE please make sure i’m out of the country so my ears DONT BLEED. Worst live vocalist and extremely over-rated.

    • The Thot You’ll Never Be July 22, 2016

Excuse me…. have you heard Rih03?

      • Wash yo mouth pls July 22, 2016

Lmao Gurl let’s not act like Taylor Swift is on Celine Dions level when it comes to performing live

      • The Thot You’ll Never Be July 22, 2016

Biitch step all the way back, where in my comment did I type and submit that ish?

      • Rihboy July 22, 2016

Katy is way below Rih on any live vocal anything.

  2. July 22, 2016

Eye-catching, Waiting for the whole thing to drop !

  3. The Thot You’ll Never Be July 22, 2016

She really needs it, the song is about to fall off the top 5 on f****** iTunes after ** days
    .
Her first single in 3 mf’n years
    .
at the end of the day she’s 30 years old all makes sense

    • Mrkc9 July 22, 2016

Sia is older than 30 yet shes charting high….

      • The Thot You’ll Never Be July 22, 2016

        Dumb Biitch
        .
I know she’s charting high at over 30 and Katy herself is set to debut in the top 5 on BB100
        .
My point is her star power has decreased am pretty sure Roar (when she was 20 something) did not fall off the #1 spot after ** days on the ITUNES chart

    • Wash yo mouth pls July 22, 2016

This is just for the olympics and rumour has it Taylor was supposed to do the olympics theme this year?

      • Mrkc9 July 22, 2016

I honestly dont think its an age thing with her. I think its because the song is mehh

I used to rely on charting with itunes statistics but its pointless now as streaming is alot higher than downloads

    • Taylor Swift-To-Find-A-New-Man (Slayty) July 22, 2016

You seem triggered boo. This isn’t her single, its for the Olympics and its still slaying.

  4. iSpeakTruthNoFallacy July 22, 2016

Not this unoriginal h*e dragging a parachute like Rih did in the American Oxygen video. These broads ain’t got no originality.

    • Mrkc9 July 22, 2016

Yes because Rihanna created the parachute….

The video looks like Tinashe Bated Breath but not on a high school lunch budget. At least Katy could afford to deploy the paracute unlike tinashe ?

      • iSpeakTruthNoFallacy July 22, 2016

Hey at least Tinashe isn’t almost 40 with her ovaries dried up! Tinashe has room and energy to flop, yet Katy doesn’t. Katy is nothing. She has no musical legacy. She has no musical identity. No one will remember her in 20 years. Her music will only serve as a memory to teenage girls who threw up when giving their first bj. Now that Taylor has stolen middle schooler’s lunch money from Katy, what holloween costume will she wear now?

    • Mrkc9 July 22, 2016

I’m not hating on Tinashe because I do like her music. However, you can only have so many flops and saying she has room to flop is laughable since she has no image or brand of her own. Her voice isnt that unique, not that I am saying Katys is becuase it sure isnt. I honestly do feel sorry for Tinashe because I feel like she was either backed into a corner and forced to sign her life away, or she thought that signing with RCA was a way to get famous fast. It’s really is sad. Although if she really is with Calvin she could really exploite him and get some of her music on the airwaves. The song they done “dollar signs” really should have been released as a single, and I feel that could have really put her on the map in Europe. But again like you said with Katy, Tinashe has no idenity vocally or image wise. 2 on was my jam in 2014, but it literally could have been sang by anyone else because it was so generic, and the vocal delivery wasnt special. However she sounds so different when she sings it live.
Katy might only in your opinion be in the minds of people that couldnt give blow jobs (which is hilarious that you said that I actually lol’d in work at that) but at least somewhere down the line people will rememeber her, and will have bought her music at somepoint or another…. that hasnt/wont be the case for Tinashe. 20 years from now no one will be aware that 2on or all hands on deck were even on the airwaves in 2014/15…. atleast katy has a few hit singles

      • iSpeakTruthNoFallacy July 22, 2016

I agree with you; however, I’m not going to count her out just yet. She’s still young and might take another year or two to find herself. It took Rihanna a few years to find her identity and her voice. I believe that it is more difficult than any other time at the moment. For a new artist to be successful, especially a female artist dominated by a Rihanna, Taylor, Beyonce, and Adele dominated world, is extremely difficult. On top of it all, Tinashe doesn’t have the right machine behind her compared to her pop counterparts. It’s like she’s just existing on RCA rather than them trying to make a star. I would love to see the damage she could do under LA Reid.

    • Taylor Swift-To-Find-A-New-Man (Slayty) July 22, 2016

You are literally the most delusional Navy on TGJ. Let’s not forget how We Found Love was literally the same video as Teenage Dream only with drugs. Have a seat

      • Taylor Swift-To-Find-A-New-Man (Slayty) July 22, 2016

Lets not also forget the Sledgehammer video looking like ET’s younger sister

      • Taylor Swift-To-Find-A-New-Man (Slayty) July 22, 2016

I’m here for it. The fact that this isn’t even her lead single, its not a catchy upbeat song, and she’s over 30 but its still slaying speaks to her star power and ability to make any song a hit. Bring on the video KP! I wonder if we’ll get a VMA performance

      • iSpeakTruthNoFallacy July 22, 2016

Slaty you should be more worried about your fave’s vaggine drying up and her grey hair, because the old broad is done. You’re wasting your time talking about Rih when she could die today and still make it in the history books. Katy on the other hand is the 20th century Cyndi Lauper…And yes I said 20th century because she’s an old cartoon-wearing bish

      • Taylor Swift-To-Find-A-New-Man (Slayty) July 22, 2016

LMAO your reads are tired and corny sis. Prism sold more in a month than Anti has managed to do in several. The delusion in thinking Rih is anywhere near Madonna’s legacy when she is struggling to sell albums and is being dragged for her disaster of a tour. And BTW, Rih is two years from thirty. Do you think she’ll still try the bad girl gimmick into her thirties? It didn’t work so well for Christina Aguilera

      • iSpeakTruthNoFallacy July 22, 2016

Biiihhhh Katy Perry is done! The only firework poppin in her career is her mouth lickin up John Mayer’s juice. Katy Perry won’t ever find her name on that all-time list. The only time she will see her name is on the karaoke machine at Waffle House and on the side of a toilet in a truck stop.

      • Taylor Swift-To-Find-A-New-Man (Slayty) July 22, 2016

LMAO! Katy’s name is already on the all time’s list. Her name has been written in the history books since 2011, deal with it. Rise is a hit and its not even her lead single! The irony in you saying Katy is done when Rih is struggling to sell singles, albums, and tickets. Chartflop teas

  5. Stephy July 22, 2016

I like her for some odd reason…But, this song is meh. She always delivers eye appealing videos tho

  6. Caltianoion July 22, 2016

Why do you insist on stating that she’s 30 years old is not old sorry to break it down to you half of the industry is in their 30s now I think artists have an extra five years at it now . Nowadays these artists are good at least up to 38/39

    • JOHNVIDAL July 22, 2016

It´s not that. The thing about insisting on Katy being 30 years old is that she has been releasing music a 20 years old artist (and with not much to say musically at that) would release. Not to mention her whole image. Apart from that of course 30 years old shouldn´t be old in the industry. I hate how singles by true legends started to be ignored once they crossed 30 years old or 40 years old at most. So unfair, cause often they have been still releasing better material than those young artists.

  7. JOHNVIDAL July 22, 2016

It´s hilarious seeing a Rihanna fan and a Katy Perry fan fighting about one of the two being forgettable and basic but not the other LMAO Do they read their own comments? Both are appalling.

    • iSpeakTruthNoFallacy July 22, 2016

Here you come sounding stupid as f*ck…Every single day the very first comment you post is a diss at Rihanna. Now, I get it. You don’t like Rihanna. She isn’t your type of artist, but please save your misery for why Lady Gaga is completely irrelevant and an official hasbeen where she is one small iota above from being oficially labeled a one hit wonder…

      • Keri Qween July 22, 2016

        Drag him Ispeak kiiii

      • Ayyseify July 22, 2016

@Ispeak and @keri don’t get her started, she about to come in with Whitney and Mariah numbers from the 90s

      • Keri Qween July 22, 2016

        @ayyseify

Kii i already know. Grandpa john is always so pressed by the two pop queens. Rihanna especially. She’s been around and very relevant for 10+ years now, if she’s forgettable I can’t tell

      • JOHNVIDAL July 22, 2016

        @ispeaktruth
You´re officially the most delusional and ignorant fan in this site. Congrats. I just came from checking yesterdays post about “Umbrella” and you kept saying and believing Rihanna is bigger than Madonna has ever been and that she has sold more albums!!!!! LMAO This is too pucking much seriously.

      • iSpeakTruthNoFallacy July 22, 2016

@John Yep, I said it and what? Go get me my meds dammit! Yesterday, I made a declaration that I believe to be fact, and the world will too in 15 years. It is NOW that people like Madonna, but just as she was praised, she was demeaned. People HATED Madonna in the early 90’s. However, it wasn’t until later that the same people began to see her differently once she left a legacy. When it comes to Rihanna, people hate her now, but her impact is undeniable. Please tell me another artist who can have a dance hit a R&B hit, and a trap hit all at the same damn time. Please tell me another artist who has consistently maintained music dominance for 10 years. And as her career outshines some legends’ careers before the age of 30, she ain’t done yet!

    • Mrkc9 July 22, 2016

TBH Whitney didnt last very long…….

      • JOHNVIDAL July 22, 2016

Are you retarded? Whitney is still one and will last forever. Unlike these two laughable girls. Are you even serious trying to come for Whitney Houston??? LMAO

      • SWISH July 22, 2016

        lmfaooo

      • Royalkev July 22, 2016

Whitney didn’t last long? Her first #1 album was in February 1985 and her last was August 31, 2009. I guess it’s so common for everyone to earn #1 album’s 29 years later! OK!

    • Mrkc9 July 22, 2016

NO I’m not retarded im stating fact. You clearly are for changing your profile picture…. Madonna? Really she s the biggest w**** the industry has ever seen. Its not art shes (as the british would say) a TART! Whitney was amazing singer, but her f***** up life changed public perception of her and she ultimately became unsuccessful…… With that she lost her talent…. And her life

      • JOHNVIDAL July 23, 2016

And? LMAO All of them are bigger and more talented than Rihanna and Katy Perry! What´s your pucking point? These delusional stans are so damn ridiculous. Get this to your head: these girls are basic and struggle for real success and musical recognition.

      • JOHNVIDAL July 23, 2016

So what if I changed my profile picture? That´s just to pay homage to Rihanna´s delusional stans. It´s a pic I have used many times before anyway. I´m not a bandwagoner or something like that if you´re trying to imply that. Fact you stated none. Get a life and get real.

  8. BEYSTAN_ SINCE 1997 July 22, 2016

Th song & video is cool… Can she pull this off live?

    • Ayyseify July 22, 2016

I like Katy I do but prolly not

  9. S****** Blonde July 22, 2016

    She’s so basic.

  10. Truthteller July 22, 2016

Katy Perry songs are absolutely trash not to mention she’s so horrible to her on fans and as a guest Judge on xfactor uk 2011 she was so rude and such a diva to the audience , people auditioning , judges acted like she was bigger than beyonce, mariah carey ,Whitney Houston put together. Also she stayed quite in the Dr Luke and kesha thing when she works with Dr Luke for like 20 songs she never spoke up or said her opinion which I find suspect

  11. Theman July 22, 2016

This is an Olympic song. Chill out. It’s doing great. Those other songs have been on radio for a while now. This one is trying to work it’s way up there. Y’all enjoy calling stuff that isn’t necessarily a flop a flop..

  12. JOHNVIDAL July 22, 2016

    @Ispeaktruth (as if)
You are already regretting what you said then? 🙂 You clearly said Rihanna has sold more albums than Madonna and that she is bigger than what Madonna is or ever was. You were even believing you were showing stats that prove it. I mean, a joke. I don´t lie. I only support talent and if I go by numbers I say obvious truths. I suppose when you stan for a basic JOKE one has to resort to lies and stupidity. Get this through your head: you said RIHANNA is BIGGER than MADONNA!!!!!! So nothing you´ll ever say about me can be taken seriously.

    • iSpeakTruthNoFallacy July 22, 2016

This comment only shows that you have a lack of reading skills which further solidifies your lack of critical thinking and analyzation. In the comment above, I refer back to my declaration to which Rihanna is bigger than Madonna and I STILL stand by that. I made an assessment based upon where Rihanna is in her career compared to where Madonna is in hers. Personally, I have respect for Madonna as she was a trailblazer for her time, but she was only pop whereas Rihanna transcends pop! Like Madonna, Rihanna has consistently been THE IT girl for 10 years. Rihanna’s music serves as the soundtrack to an entire generation like no other artist today. Rihanna’s musical versatility surpasses Madonna as Rihanna is not defined by a particular boundaries. Furthermore, I replied to you with cold hard facts, so please provide some evidentiary support on your end besides calling me delusional. So just as Rihanna can have multiple songs for multiple demographics, you with your biased hatred can have several seats.

      • Mrkc9 July 22, 2016

I think artists seem bigger these days because they are more accessible with social media etc and if thats included in this argument then yeah! RIH could be bigger than Madonna at this point comparing her career with hers at the same points

  13. Taylor Swift-To-Find-A-New-Man (Slayty) July 22, 2016

I’m here for it. The fact that this isn’t even her lead single, its not a catchy upbeat song, and she’s over 30 but its still slaying speaks to her star power and ability to make any song a hit. Bring on the video KP! I wonder if we’ll get a VMA performance.

Excuse 460 and counting-‘ it’s not even her single’
      .
Afcourse the song is going to be a hit for a few weeks tho, it’s her first single in 3 years
      .
It’s her first single in her 30s
      .
let’s just wait and see how her next 3-5 singles will do
      .
either you bookmark this page or… you save it…. you can even take a screen shot
      .
AND HELL NAAAAAW, WE DON’T NEED TO SEE THAT KINDA OF A MESS ON VMA’s….. esp NOT THIS SONG

      • Taylor Swift-To-Find-A-New-Man (Slayty) July 22, 2016

Lol you are so triggered, I love it! Excuses where sis? The song is not flopping or under performing in anyway. It will be a hit because she is Katy fvcking Perry.

        ,
After watching Tayloose attempt to belt that simple note at the end of Shake It Off on every damn award show, Katy would be a great change of things.

Call me crazy, but I see this single being her tenth Hot 100 #1. Hurry up and get #15 on lock, Rih! Mariah, you got two in a race coming for your wig right now.

  16. S****** Blonde July 22, 2016

So Madonna was only Pop whereas Rihanna transcends Pop.

LOL….Madonna was the first pop artist to show diversity right from the beginning, even more she started as a post-punk rocker in her band Emmys…..So the albums Like a Prayer, Erotica, Bedtime Stories, Ray of Light, American Life, I’m Breathless and countless of random songs on her discography are just Pop, when fans become delusional, is like me saying Madonna is a vocalist a la Carey……I just can’t…….Rihanna could never be this diverse, bless your heart.

    • iSpeakTruthNoFallacy July 22, 2016

Au contraire mon frere. First and foremost, black people halfway don’t even know who Madonna is. She has had no cultural contribution or inspiration in black culture or any subculture in the US for that matter compared to her many white counterparts. Furthermore, Madonna’s discography is nowhere near as diverse as Rih’s stylistically. Madonna never merged and blended genres from demographics and cultures around the world. While not trying to diminish her greatness, Madonna was a favorite amongst middle class, suburban white girls who saw her as rebel and a symbol not to conform thus the dabbling in punk. *Listens to Nothing’s Promised with Love On the Brain up next*

      • S****** Blonde July 22, 2016

Lol girl you are one delusional human being, yep black folks don’t know who the most successful and impactful female in music is, I have no time for this stupid debate, which isn’t even a debate since you are one in a million with that idea that Rihanna is bigger, more diverse and impactful than Madonna, you heard that MADONNA, say her name and walk away, enough of this stupidity.

      • iSpeakTruthNoFallacy July 22, 2016

First and foremost, there are two misconceptions of what I said. First, when I say that Rihanna is bigger than Madonna I am evaluating where exactly Rihanna is currently and where Madonna was at this same time frame in their career, and Rihanna has accomplished more within that same time. I’m not trying diminish Madonna’s greatness; however, it took her 20 years into her career to receive the queen of pop title meanwhile Rihanna has already received icon status only in 10 years of her career. Secondly, when it comes to Madonna’s crossover appeal, she had none in most demographics in America that fell outside of the suburban culdesac; it’s the exact same situation with Taylor Swift currently. And yes, MOST black people couldn’t even tell you ONE Madonna hit. They most likely listened to Janet Jackson and not Madonna. But you see the point you’re missing with Rihanna’s crossover appeal is that EVERYONE of every different ethnicity, cultural background, country of origin, and socioeconomic background not only love Rihanna but she impacts their culture.

      • Royalkev July 22, 2016

        @ISpeakTruth

I have to agree with certain points you’re making (that some people may not want to give you credit for). Madonna wasn’t recognized as the leading Pop Queen until the 00’s! She was in a neck-and-neck tight race with Whitney in the 80’s and lagging behind all of the other divas in the 90’s (Janet, Whitney, Celine, Mariah, Shania, etc). It wasn’t until the mid-to-late 00’s where she had the PRIVILEGE of pulling ahead to the forefront with her touring stadiums and mediocre sales (although average, it still was more consistent than all the other women within the last 10 years, probably due to her receiving the most positive hype). Overall, this was well over a 20 year process to determine who was the reigning queen because it wasn’t clearly established even going into the year 2000. SEVERAL divas had something over the other!

Now I do also agree with S****** and John, simply because the level of success of many divas from the 80’s/90’s can be measured in so many ways (sales, hits, touring, even influence). It’s hard to really see more than a handful of women in this decade rivaling that of what was done in the past. Those names: Beyonce, Rihanna, Taylor, Adele definitely deserve a mention … I’m being objective! Still, there’s some corners being cut on the charts today IMO (ex: streaming – don’t get mad), but at the same time today’s artists are at a disadvantage (ex: album leaks), so there are a few factors that need to be considered in analyzing all of this.

      • S****** Blonde July 22, 2016

Again the delusion, both Madonna and Michael Jackson invented the titles King and Queen of Pop, without them those titles wouldn’t even have been created, Madonna was already a certified legend by Like a Prayer (1989), whoever argues that Madonna has competition at a global level when it comes to Iconicness, popularly and impact is delusional, point blank period, if she ever had a competition was in the USA (for a short period of time), even in her underperformed eras like Erotica, she still had way more impact and fame than any Diva that was selling more than her and getting good press in the 90’s, no woman in music has been a phenomenon like Madonna, at least not globally, saying Madonna wasn’t considered the Queen of Pop until 2000 is like saying Michael Jackson wasn’t considered the King of Pop until 2001 because there was Prince, people can try to discredit Madonna on this site all they want but they know that there wasn’t a female pop star like Madonna before her, she invented Pop music for female singers, isn’t Rihanna called the Black Madonna?….every female singer has been inspired by Madonna in some way or another, even her peers has taken a lot from her book and they should if they want to have a career like her.

      • Royalkev July 22, 2016

Ummm, there was no debate over MJ being the King of Pop! … None, what so ever! MJ’s ‘Thriller’ was the biggest thing that ever happened before all of us here! Sixty five million sold !!!!! Enough said! I believe Prince had the same kind of impact, but he probably comes second in line for the men overall (arguably – from the 80’s on) when it comes to the numbers.

MJ’s colossal success totally trumped the women’s too! For the record, I’m not in any way an MJ stan! I have no reason to hype anyone … now moving on! The women were much closer in competition than MJ and Prince.

        Fun Facts:

#1 Whitney has the biggest sales!
        #2 Mariah the most hits!
*S/N Whitney and Madonna both collected 7 BB100 #1’s each in the 80’s and 4 more #1’s each in the 90’s … before both being surpassed by Mariah.

#3 Janet have the most #1’s on various charts
(B100, R&B, Pop (Mainstream Top 40), Dance, Rap, Rock (Mainstream Rock), Adult Contemporary

*S/N Before Superbowl Janet obtained 5 #1 albums in a row (before Madonna did the same 2 years afterwards by 2003)… Even after SB, Janet’s still obtained 7 to Madonna’s 8 (with fewer albums and 10 years of blacklisting)! It’s odd to see that Janet was the last out of the 2 to snag a #1 in 2001 (‘All For You’), when SUPPOSEDLY Madonna’s always been head and shoulder’s above the rest and her last #1 was 2000’s ‘Music’.

#4 Mariah and Janet were the #1 and #2 artists of the 90s decade.

#5 Whitney, Mariah and Celine all have 2 diamond albums (Shania Twain have 3). Madonna’s Immaculate Collection (greatest hits album) BEEN certified diamond, but some sources NOW have her sophomore album, ‘Like A Virgin at diamond status. I don’t know how that’s the case because in MOST of the 2000’s it wasn’t anywhere near. After some late 00’s magic things were inflated … oops, I meant changed.

All I’m basically saying is that Madonna left no one in the dust until she started being played up somewhere around 2004/2005 (while all the other women were downplayed)! During that time you would have practically thought Madonna was the only artist that ever existed before Britney, Nsync and Backstreet Boys burst on to the scene! That couldn’t be further from the truth! Take from it all what you will, but I encourage everyone to do some research.
