I’m working with a lot of unexpected writers and producers and … that’s bringing out a lot of different things sonically.Even when I was working with my go-to producers, I’d always push them to play me a beat that was reserved for Three 6 Mafia or something like that… I know exactly how to write a lyric over that because my strengths are melody and lyrics. I’m putting myself in unexpected situations and that is breeding a lot of new color.

But what if we don’t want it.

    • ? + ✈ = ? January 17, 2017

Im here for her positive uplifting music. She’s coming for Gaga,Bey and the Rh!!tard.

    • XYZ January 17, 2017

      Then don’t buy it.

      • IIDONOTREPLY2TROLLz January 17, 2017

Well clearly I’m not going to am I.

      • ? + ✈ = ? January 17, 2017

        She probably can’t afford it

    • LISA LEVINE January 17, 2017

She’s another shady queen, which i totally support that behavior, BUT her vocals are usually water-weak. her live vocals are also scary. She sounds like a CAT being run over by a lawnmower.

    • XYZ January 17, 2017

Gosh, then don’t. Who cares? If you don’t like an artist or their music, then don’t buy/stream it and leave it at that. Why do people feel the need to tell others that they won’t buy a new album by whoever?

  2. BEYSTAN_ SINCE 1997 January 17, 2017

No shade but, is anyone checking for a new album from her. When it comes to singles and promo she is always solid and consistent. However I feel like she always gets lost in he shuffle!

    • Taylor-Swift-To-Find-A-New-Man (Slayty) January 17, 2017

Her album sales are solid so someone is checking for it

  3. The Wig Snatcher January 17, 2017

We shall see. I won’t count her out.

    • Killian January 17, 2017

I won’t either.I love me some corny ass fun pop bop/urban soaked katy Perry.. We’ve been missing some of that in music. You go Katy

  4. Meme January 17, 2017

I don’t want another politically charged album to be honest. It comes off very try hard. Why does everyone feel the need to make statement/movement albums now? I get you wanting to make meaningful music but there are other ways to do it than bringing politics, race, pro black and feminist into it. I just want good music love that is reflective and relatable to be honest.

    • IIDONOTREPLY2TROLLz January 17, 2017

“Reflective and relatable music” so true.

    • Quiet January 17, 2017

You’re more than welcome to be sheep who is lost in the sauce. Some of us can handle a harder truth through music.

    • Mark111 /.\ January 17, 2017

A year ago artist made fun music and people were “How come they don’t make real music with meaning?” Now it’s the other way around, people and their short term memory make me sick.

      • meme January 17, 2017

That’s the thing…why artist feel like you have to talk about politics and race issues for your music to be considered good. Me personally, I find fun music and music about love “good” as well. Its all about the writing and composition. Case and point, Beyoncé’s All night, a well written song about love is 10x better than the songs where she tries hard to make a policical and pro black message. Rihanna’s love on the brain 10x better than American Oxygen. Just my take.

      • IIIDONOTREPLY2TROLLz January 17, 2017

I think we’re missing our me, myself & I, dirrty, case of the ex kind of tracks. If your going to be political then theirs other ways you can do it. Don’t get me wrong I’m here for the empowerment of black people but why now? Lauryn Hill has been doing this year’s ago. Mos def the list goes on. Do I want hear a song about Donald Trump.no I don’t.

  5. PeaceMaker January 17, 2017

She can keep it! The world has moved on.

  6. BEYONCÉ Is Grown January 17, 2017

I would love to hear some new music from her.

  7. Jeans January 17, 2017

    Lost interest.

  8. Trose January 17, 2017

I love katy something about her is authentic.I’m here for a.switch up n sound and using her platform to spread a mssg some refuse dut definitely need to hear

  9. Kimk January 17, 2017

She finished her album before TLC it’s a damn shame

    • SMH January 17, 2017

And she’s never had an album sell as big as a TLC album, that’s the damn shame.

      • XYZ January 17, 2017

She’s never been in the high selling times for music as tlc was. So any comparison is stupid

      • Mark111 /.\ January 17, 2017

Yep, that’s why in the 90s when there was a girl group in every corner, TLC were the only group that went diamond.

      • XYZ January 17, 2017

@Mark – I did not say that TLC wasn’t successful nor did I say that they weren’t the highest selling girlgroup. What I did say was that you cannot compare the absolut numbers of Katy’s past 2000 sales to TLC’s numbers in the 90ies

  10. DondriA January 17, 2017

This is album is going to FLOP badly. Tity is like 33. Nobody is going to want hear generic kid bop pop songs from a woman who’s old enough to be people’s mother. Her streaming is average and she won’t be moving albums now that the climate is awful.

    • Wonder Woman January 17, 2017

      True T

    • Taylor-Swift-To-Find-A-New-Man (Slayty) January 17, 2017

How is her streaming average when the last time she released was before streams really blew up? Try again. Prism is still one of the most streamed albums on Spotify despite this

  11. MissImpartial January 17, 2017

    Is that Taylor Swift’s cat?

  12. SMH January 17, 2017

    Good luck hon lol.

  13. Beyoncé Jackson January 17, 2017

Her last single bombed. This album will either make or break her. I honestly forgot about her…

    • Taylor-Swift-To-Find-A-New-Man (Slayty) January 17, 2017

      Rise wasn’t a single

    • mr.m January 17, 2017

well rihanna flopped with American oxygen and flop seconds. but she came back hard. anyhow, f*ck them both

  14. Wonder Woman January 17, 2017

She can keep it, no one is here for it just like no one was here for that drown/ drop trash song….
    .
I really don’t see it for her in 2017 hopefully the world left her in 2014

  15. Shakira stan January 17, 2017

She will flop, she has reached the dreaded 30 years… No one will play her crap.

    • King B January 18, 2017

When’s the last time Shakira had a top ten hit? She Wolf?

  16. Mark111 /.\ January 17, 2017

She’ll do well, Katy make music that caters to everyone, new and old. I’m looking forward to her urban pop 2nd single (ET/Dark Horse)

  17. LB January 17, 2017

I’m ready for some not so serious, fun music. You are welcome Miss Hudson.

  18. LB January 17, 2017

LOL where did my Gravatar go? This site…smh

  19. Taylor-Swift-To-Find-A-New-Man (Slayty) January 17, 2017

Lol at people saying Katy won’t sell because shes older. It’s 2017. People no longer care about young hot popstars. That formula does not work anymore, hence why Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, and 5H aren’t topping any charts or moving units. Sia, who is 41, outsold all of these young girls and launched bigger hits. That being said, Katy will come for wigs. Rise did well and it wasn’t even a single and didn’t get the single treatment. I will wait for her to confirm a released date and single though.

    • Casual January 17, 2017

I hope you are right about market trends. However, I do think Rise got single treatment as we understand the concept today; it just underperformed. When an established artist puts out a song, the label checks for the initial reaction on iTunes, youtube, and the other streaming platforms. If the song isn’t catching on, they call it a buzz single and move on.

    • King B January 18, 2017

Sia is really killing the game. She also earned multiple Grammy nominations. Not to mention her album is selling as much As Anti, and still charting in UK.

  20. Meko January 17, 2017

Beyonce jealous s***** slaves will always have something negative to say about other artists…. When it is clear that Bitchyonce lack talent and the only way out for her is booty shaking… Katy is your storm, embrace this fact or get wrecked.

    • Shakira Stan January 17, 2017

I don’t like Beyonce, but saying Beyonce doesn’t have talent is like saying the moon shines in the day.
There are things too obvious, it becomes pathetic, try another drag.

  21. Orangeyougladididntsaybanana January 17, 2017

    LOL she wishes

Taylor Swift’s album is the most anticipated of the year because ya know, she’s actually won AOTY twice and is known for releasing quality albums

  22. Meteorite January 17, 2017

Damn It Christina, where you at?

  23. Weezy Tha Goat/Zayn is ? January 17, 2017

I’m rooting for Katy. That snake Taylor Swoft needs some competition Rihanna and Lady GaGa both flopped hard. Adele only puts out albums every 3/4 years and Beyoncé is in a league all by herself.

    • Datredd23 January 17, 2017

Rihanna is far from flopping babe and you know it look at Billboard top 200 and hot 100 babe u will see my fave a year later Anti is the top charting female album at 11

  24. HailLegendBeysus January 17, 2017

Nice can’t wait to hear what she has for us.
    .
Also I read Taylor Swift new album is going to be focused on BLM, not sure if it’s true though.

    • truthteller January 17, 2017

Taylor doing an album about BLM? Surely this is some kind of joke?!

      • HailLegendBeysus January 17, 2017

Yea i read it in an article that was circulating on twitter. It said the Album would follow the lines of Brucr Springsteens album about 9/11. She won’t specifically mention the movement but the album will hint toward the movement if that that makes any since.

  25. THE REAL January 17, 2017

The irony.. I’m listening to a playlist of KP’S hits on Apple while reading y’all shade her on TGJ.

Anyhow, I trust Katy is capable of tapping into the zeitgeist and garnering at least one more smash for her next album. Can she reach her One of the Boys/Teenage Dream era success again is the real question.

  26. mr.m January 17, 2017

    ugh! please keep it.
I don’t need to hear her corny ass music and ugly ass voice. bye.

  27. @ASAPicon January 17, 2017

    Here for Katy

  28. King B January 18, 2017

When’s the last time Shakira had a top ten hit? She Wolf? Beautiful Liar?

  29. King B January 18, 2017

Ok. This is quite exciting tbh, I can’t imagine Katy is making an artistic album. But I’m glad that Rih,Katy and Gaga are going the artistic route As well As becoming more secretive and mysterious like Beyonce. Dec 13th 2013 really changed the game.
