Khia Still Trash Talking…

Not content with taking digs at Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri on previous occasions, rapper Khia has blasted the pair in her latest MySpace blog (warning: explicit language):

Nowwwwwwww…… Jermaine Dupri…… I hear you was on Hot 97 in New York… Talking bout how I was ungrateful…………. And Miss Jones was FIRED right after dat!!!!!! If I’m ungrateful about anything its about the fact of how I SAVED the day for JANET….. And I couldn’t even be in the VIDEO…..But dats old news so why are we even still talking about it????? Janet’s album Flopped and DATS dat!!!!! I’m sorry……. Janet…..I hear you been going thru the CHANGE…. So maybe dats why you were MOODY and didn’t want me in the VIDEO dat day!!!! I guess 40 is not the new 20????

If I am disappointed about anything……… Its because you DIDN’T sign me, after I had already proven to you that I can sell records!!!! Is it because I am not little like BOW WOW??? Is it because I don’t wear my pants backwards with my boxers showing like Kriss-Kross??????….. You are Michael Jackson’s little sister’s boyfriend!!!!!! Is Chris Stokes your cousin??? Now dats the REAL disappointment!!!!! Are you gonna join Janet at the Jungle dis weekend, the hot GAY bar in Atlanta?? If so, I will see you then!!!! SOUND OFF……. And Noooooooo…… I don’t wanna buy no DAMN BOY SCOUT COOKIES!!!! It’s something funny bout GROWN men running around with little boys in uniforms….. Janet & Jermaine Ready To Start Family

After more than 7 years of dating, Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri have publicly expressed their desire to start a family together in the very near future. Check out what JD had to say in the matter when spotted at Nelly’s dinner party this past week end in West Hollywood:

“Yeah, soon. Right after the tour.’ Jackson recently announced she’ll be on the road this fall. The 42-year-old pop icon, who has been married and divorced twice, once quipped that she was ‘allergic to marriage.’ Dupri is reportedly so excited to procreate with Jackson, he doesn’t care if it’s a boy or a girl. ‘It really doesn’t matter, Janet would be a great mom. I’m assuming I speak for most when I say: ‘It’s about time already!’ LOL. On a side note, it’s doubtful, in view of this, that we’ll be hearing any new Janet material for a while…

Nelly – ‘Stepped On My J’s (ft. JD & Ciara)’ Video

The video for Nelly’s latest single ‘Stepped On My J’s (ft. Jermaine Dupri & Ciara)’ premiered on BET just a few short hours ago. Though I think the video is pretty decent, especially considering how poor the song is(IMO), Ciara’s showing was definitely the highlight of the clip. Good stuff.

Destiny’s Child – Gots My Own

Though a very solid effort, one thing that till this day puzzles me about Destiny Child’s 2004 LP ‘Destiny Fulfilled’ is that a sizable proportion of the bonus, international only etc tracks could easily have featured on the album – most especially considering it’s overly generous track list size (11 tracks). Perhaps, one of the best of these tracks is the Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins produced ‘Gots My Own’. The song, which is very much in the vein of DC’s ‘Independent Women’ stance, is great IMO primarily because its Old Skool feel is so far removed from your typical Darkchild production, and moreover the expected Destiny’s Child sound. Also, the ladies’ unmatched harmonies/vocal arrangements work particularly well here.

3LW – Feelin’ You (ft. Jermaine Dupri)

With new member Jessica in tow, 3LW looked set to make another attempt at hitting it big in 2006, under the label guidance of Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def imprint (which at the time was an off-shoot of Sony). For one reason or the other, their ‘comeback’ album ‘Point of No Return’ was shelved (See: The Cheetah Girls); the girls did, however, release ‘Feelin’ You’ as a single (albeit an under-performing one). With top notch production courtesy of JD himself, the song managed to blend the their soft vocals with a befitting beat that still possessed that trademark JD ‘knock’. Great one for the summer.

Jamelia – Beware Of The Dog

Many in the industry were initially touting UK R&B star Jamelia as our answer to Beyonce. Indeed, as well as her imaging, videos (See: ‘Superstar’) etc, the fact she was doing it so BIG over here at the same time as the Destiny’s Child front-woman, no doubt further fuelled the comparisons. However, with her last LP, 2006′s ‘Walk With Me’, the mother of 2 switched things up radically sound-wise, serving up an album full of R&B tinged Pop/Rock/Dance tracks – one of the standouts being ‘Beware Of The Dog’. With it’s hard hitting, rousing feel, the song isn’t far removed from some of the better cuts on Rihanna’s ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ CD. Good stuff.

Kandi – I Need

Some of you may remember Kandi as one quarter of 90′s R&B vocal group Xscape. Having gone on to pen smashes for the likes of TLC (‘No Scrubs’) and Destiny’s Child (‘Bills Bills Bills’), she launched an ill-fated solo career, which in all fairness to her, did spawn the moderate hit ‘Don’t Think I’m Not’. Fast forward to 2006 and with talk of a new album in the works (which has yet to materialize), she dropped ‘I Need’ as a buzz single. Detailing the stress of her day to day life (“Got my baby daddy talking to me sideways, got a stack of bills sittin’ that I ain’t paid”), there really is no other way to describe this other than R-E-A-L. Lyrically the track is as engaging as they come; the beat goes hard too.

With the release of Nelly’s ‘Brass Knuckles’ fast approaching, a new cut from the set has surfaced. ‘Stepped On My J’s', which features Jermaine Dupri and R&B star Ciara, sees the St. Louis native re-embrace the gritty, yet radio friendly sound that made his debut so great. I must say, I’m really liking this one. ‘Brass Knuckles’ hits stores June 24th.

New Song: Janet Jackson – ‘Feedback’ (Remix) (ft. JD, Ciara, Fabolous & Busta Rhymes)

Check out this newly christened Official remix of Janet’s ‘Feedback’. This version features verses from Jermaine Dupri, Busta Rhymes, Ciara and Fabolous. It’s nearing four months since the debut of the original and I still have it in heavy rotation. This remix is pretty solid too.
