New Video: ‘Knocking Off Your Heels’ – Pretty Ricky, H-Town, & Jodeci

Jojo may be singing about disasters these days, but you are about to witness one. As has been making its rounds around the blog-o-sphere, a host of has-beens have joined forces to create what is certifiably a historic hot mess of a video. Led by ‘Grind On Me’ group Pretty Ricky, the visual for ‘Knocking Off Your Heels’, said to be the lead single from their upcoming BlueStars 2 (due early 2012), features legendary R&B group Jodeci and 90s R&B bad boys H-Town.

While fans of all three groups have noticed their collective absences from charts and radio alike, view of this visual may concern and confirm that even more absence is yet to come.

Pretty Ricky – ‘Tipsy’ Video

It seems being dropped from Atlantic hasn’t deterred Pretty Ricky from launching another assault on the charts. The oh-so-talented collective premiered the video for their new single ‘Tipsy’ today. Put simply,

Hot.Ass.Mess.

Have Janet and Def Jam Reconciled?

There is mounting speculation that Janet Jackson and label Island Def Jam have put aside their much publicized differences and have opted to continue working together. The news comes as Jackson’s previously scrapped new single ‘Can’t Be Good’ was officially sent to Urban Adult Contemporary radio for adds by Def Jam this week. {Source}

A reconciliation? Hopefully. A final parting shot? Maybe. I’m still not entirely sold on ‘Can’t Be Good’ getting the single treatment ahead of cuts from ‘Discipline’ such as ’2Nite’, ‘The 1′ and a more proper release of ‘LUV’. If there’s no promotion, I really can’t see this making much of an impact. Still, I’m hoping Janet and Def Jam have patched things up, the ‘Discipline’ project really is too good to go so un-supported IMO.

Pretty Ricky – ‘Cuddle Up (ft. Butta Creme)’ Video

The video for ‘Cuddle Up’, the first single to be lifted from Pretty Ricky’s forthcoming album ’80′s Babies’, premiered on BET just a few short hours ago. Put simply, the video is decent. I’m liking visual references to popular videos from the 80′s such as Salt N Peppa’s ‘Can’t Touch This’ etc. They were all kinds of wrong for the dance break with their new member 4-Play though – all kinds of wrong.

Pretty Ricky Unveil New Member

Following the departure of Pretty Ricky’s lead singer (Pleasure) last year, the group have revealed their new member – Ambition/4Play (pictured second from the right). The singer will now serve as ‘the new voice of Pretty Ricky’ {Source}

Jennifer Lopez Performs On Good Morning America

Jennifer Lopez has gone into promotion overdrive for her new CD ‘Brave’ (which hits stores today in the US) and has seemingly been everywhere as of late. She performed a mini-set yesterday on ‘Good Morning America’ consisting of current singles ‘Do It Well’ and ‘Hold it Don’t Drop It’. Despite her not really ‘working’ the stage, I kinda enjoyed both performances. This whole being pregnant thing (which we all know she is) is doing wonders for her live vocal ability; without choreography she doesn’t sound bad live at all.

What do you think of the performance / Will you be buying ‘Brave’?

Pretty Ricky – ‘Love Like Honey’ Video

Considering the fact that Pretty Ricky haven’t had a hit since ‘Your Body’, I’m kinda baffled as to why they’re still releasing singles. Anyway, ‘Love Like Honey’ is the third single to be lifted from the group’s current album ‘Late Night Special’. I watched the ‘Access Granted’ for the vid on BET last week (I’m still here in LA) and couldn’t stop laughing. Evidently, the guys don’t take themselves too seriously, hence why they can get away with an overly tacky video like this. On the plus side, the song isn’t bad at all.

New Songs: Beyonce, B5 & Pretty Ricky

Beyonce – Green Light (Remix) (ft. Young Buck)

I’m kinda liking this remix version of Green Light more than the original. The production is more grittier and it has an old-skool feel to it. Young Buck’s verse is decent and it meshes well with this more Hip-Hop sounding remix. Definitely one of the better Beyonce remixes I’ve heard.

B5 – Hydrolic (ft. Bow Wow & Diddy)

It’s been a while since I heard anything from B5 and I assumed they just disappeared (like many of Diddy’s artists). However it seems they are pressing ahead with a sophomore album (due June 19th) and ‘Hydrolic‘ is one of the featured tracks. While the track is pretty good and the production is on-point, the vocals sound kinda ‘little boys-tryna be grown’. Something about the harmonies and vocal arrangement reminds me of 112, though (a good thing).

Pretty Ricky – Push It Baby (Remix) (ft. Sean Paul)

Nowadays any track Sean Paul features on turns out hot; this one is no different. The original version of ‘Push It Baby’ (minus Sean Paul) was included on Pretty Ricky’s current album ‘Late Night Special’; this version is much better. Each of the group’s members drops a verse and Sean Paul sings on the hook. Definitely the right choice for the 2nd single. Great track.

Pretty Ricky & Sean Paul – ‘Push It Baby’ Video

This remix of ‘Push It’ is the 2nd single from Pretty Ricky’s sophomore album ‘Late Night Special’. Though the original is o.k, this version is much better (mainly because of the Sean Paul feature). As much as I think Pretty Ricky are a joke, I have to admit that their singles are good. The video is kinda interesting too, I guess they were trying something different with the concept.
