Marvel‘s ‘Black Panther’ movie may be set for a 2018 release, but excitement is still at fever pitch.

Said buzz cranked up a notch last night at Comic-Con 2016 in San Diego.

Why?

It’s the first time the cast for the hotly anticipated flick assembled.

Posing with director Ryan Coogler were Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan, and latest addition Danai Gurira.

Peep the pic after the jump…

Beyond Boseman’s lead role as the Black Panther, it’s now been confirmed that Jordan will play villain Erik Killmonger. Nyong’o will take on the role of Nakia and Gurira will star as Okoye – both bodyguards of the protagonist.

Filming starts in January 2017. The movie itself will land in theaters on July 6th 2018.

  1. ???????Chile, take this “Itty Bitty Piggy” to the market and make sure you hold her hand while crossing the street!??????? July 24, 2016

I will be bringing me entire beautiful black family to see this film and I’ll personally see it 10 times by myself. This movie is NEEDED and so long overdue. I know some people are upset that MBJ is in the cast, but I’m sure that he’ll do great.

    • #justsayn July 24, 2016

MBJ is a mediocre actor to me! Chadwich Boseman is on another level of talent! Great great actor! He can play any role & play the hell out of it!

      • Annalise July 24, 2016

He’s basically in the movie because he’s hot right now (popular and physically attractive) + plus he has a big following from Fantastic Four (even though the movie was critically panned).

BLACK EXCELLENCE! This is basically the first mainstream comic book movie with a cast that is predominately black (let’s pretend Blade didn’t happen LOL ?). This is groundbreaking!

    • Mark111 July 24, 2016

Blade wasn’t an all Black cast but it was the first successful Marvel movie, so pretending it never happened is stupid. Snipes was the very few Black lead action stars and should be respected.

      • Annalise July 24, 2016

LMAO hun, I know it wasn’t an all black cast, but I knew you’d somehow you’d end up in my reply box. Blade III pretty much made the entire franchise look like a joke.

        .
Your words. But this shows how dumb the Pest are. And I don’t care how you feel about Blade 3, it was the 3rd installment, so the first two had to been making money. Sit down.

      • Annalise July 24, 2016

        ‘ I don’t care how you feel’

LMBO then why the F*** are you in reply box BÎTCH! Clearly you do care!!! ? I should have just used a different sentence instead of brackets, because of nítpicking nerdy gay-ass níggas like you that like to dissect comments on an urban blog like low-life bîtches. Clearly you didn’t have sèx until your 20s, since you know so much about comics KIII. The whole franchise is corny to me, and you ain’t changing my opinion PHAAGGOT! Choke on a dîck!

    • well well July 24, 2016

you want just groundbreaking… right? you will get that. it’s a whole black and giant marvel.
      .

  4. Mark111 July 24, 2016

It will be interesting to see how this performs overseas. Hopefully it’ll break that racist wall down. I’m excited for Wonder Woman as well.

    This looks good! Can’t wait!

  15. JOHNVIDAL July 25, 2016

DC won Comic Con once again big time. That Dr Strange film looks soooo bad and at parts a copy of the phenomenal film by Chris Nolan “Inception”. However, Wonder Woman, S****** Squad and finally the Justice League trailer killed it! DC has gone for diversity way earlier in their universe than Marvel. Marvel has barely started now that they are like in their 15th movie for their shared universe 🙂

    • Bam Bam July 25, 2016

I didn’t really like the Justice League trailer. For one I don’t want Cyborg on the Justice League they should just make a T*** Titans movie. I mean how you gone have Cyborg without Beast Boy? And it looks like they were trying to make this one funny and the jokes were falling flat. But that Wonder Woman trailer though got me so hype!!!

Chadwick Boseman is such a great actor. I had the pleasure of working with him this summer on the Thurgood Marshall film that will be released in December. He’s extremely talented and very humble. He was willing to give advice and words of encouragement to a young actor like myself.
