You know why I love Beyonce?
Because she is not a great singer (there are tons of them out there, but can’t get shine because they are just great). She is an all-around singer.
Where the great singers people always compare her to, can only sing super high notes and belt loudly. Beyonce sings everything: circles, high, low, rectangles, triangles, squares, dotted lines and much more. It’s called being versatile baby. That’s why I love her!

I swear though, sometimes it seems like she makes more money doing commercials and promotional spots than her actual music. I could be wrong, but you can’t blame one for thinking that way. This money-hungry she-devil is everywhere – Vizio, Nintendo DS, L’Oreal.

Beyonce was just as light when she was a little girl in the home video singing: (she think she bad…) “Baby, baby I know I’m bad!” Didn’t ya’ll see the video during the “I Am Yours” Vegas show? Some black folks are just light and it’s winter time anyway, she probably hasn’t been out in the sun in a while. I heard her say in an interview that she likes to get a little tan sometimes. Anyway enough about the skin tone; every artist is inspired by someone or something and NOTHING or NO ONE is 100% original. Every thing she does screams Beyonce and that’s what counts; she has a dominant presence and leaves her stamp on everything she touches. She doesn’t claim to write every lyric or every song and she doesn’t live in a bubble to where you can’t compare some of her work to others. Either you enjoy what she does or you don’t. Many people say artist like Maxwell and D’Angelo sing like Prince but you can compare Prince to James Brown and Little Richard. Stop trying to figure out who did what first because whoever you think she copied from was probably ‘inspired’ by someone else and it goes on and on. Beyonce is TALENTED & great at what she does and no one can fill her shoes. She is making a big mark on the business as a black female and should be supported. Go BEY!
@Anne, I KNOW that you are supporting beyonce. I will not tell you not to, b/c you can do whatever you want to do.=] However, I don’t think people are understanding what im saying. As being a Beyonce fan, I would love to see her do something ORIGINAL for once. That means, sit down, brainstorm, and come up with something you didn’t see on Youtube. i.e. Michael Jackson was in his arcade, playing the pinball machine, and he said the song Librarian girl came to mind. He didn’t say that he was watching a tape of another artist, was inspired, and did SOMETHING LIKE what he saw. I just used that as an example to prove my point.
When Beyonce came out with Dangerously in Love, that was her. Raw Beyonce Talent. After a while, she started doing things that was not original, per say. There were no Copyright infringement cases against her with the Dangerously in love album. But from Bday going forward, cases were pinned against her. Some you know of, and some you don’t. Some that was settled out of court so the public woudn’t see her flaws, and some cases were publicized. Bottom line, my point is, I would like to see her do something that she thought of, without the inspiration of another artist, movie, fashion designers, etc.
This is pointless, like every other artist or performer (including Michael Jackson) Beyonce does some things that are original and some things that are inspired or not original. You can’t possibly know all of the facts about the cases that you are describing and instead you have to go by a lot of hearsay and allegations. Many artists settle issues out of court whether they have merit or not because it’s time consuming to fight it in court either way and can lead to negative press. Copyright issues from sampling can be very complex and sometimes artists get permission to use a sample, but someone drops the ball somewhere along the process because there are so many hands in the pot and claims as to who has legal rights to certain lyrics or melodies of a song and a technicality can give rise to a lawsuit. Supposedly, that’s what happened with the “Kissing You” song, I read it was released before final authorization for use of a sample from Desiree and that caused a temporary sale freeze. There’s just all sorts of complicated possibilities that don’t involve intentional infringement. Lots of artist run into these types of problems but Beyonce is so high profile that she is a target and her issues are more publicized. I still believe that people should not be so quick to judge especially when so much of this information is speculative. Beyonce is on top right now and based on her level of talent I think that’s where she should be.

im a bee fan but i know she is not one of those genius intellectual artists who just get heavenly inspiration for a completely originally song with a sound no-one’s ever heard before. she leaves that to the producers. what makes her so successful however, and what i RESPECT about her, is her undeniable, RAW talent, her amazing work ethic, and of course really spectacular performance ability.
