T.I. fans are going to have to wait a lot longer than than expected to get their hands on his new album. The rapper’s highly anticipated ‘King Uncaged’ LP has been pushed back from it’s original release date of August 17th to September 28th. This news comes as a surprise to many as the album’s 1st promo single, ‘I’m Back’, has already climbed to #44 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #12 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with little promotion. {Source}
I sense that this decision is probably related to conflicts with T.I’s current promotional schedule for his new movie, ‘Takers’. Undoubtedly his label wants to ensure that his album gets sufficient attention and that he could capitalise on every avenue available such as the upcoming MTV VMA’s. Furthermore, as T.I. chose to use the 2010 BET Awards to promote ‘Yeah Ya Know (Takers)’ from the ‘Takers’ soundtrack instead of his own project, he missed out on a major opportunity for exposure. Indeed, this decision may prove to be wise in the long run.

“I’m Back” sucks, typical just-got-outta-jail song that we have heard a million time before, so it’s not catching on, I don’t think his movie has anything to do with it. For somebody like T.I. to only hit #44 on the charts in very low. I said before that he was starting his promo too early, I think he should have just waited a little and chilled out with the fam until the summer, that way he has time to come up with the right single to get enough hype for the proper release date. Damn, do these musicians ever get a set release date anymore?

And given the star-studded/stellar-cast of ‘Takers’, it’s bound to do well, come ‘first-week’s-box-office-receipts’: Paul Walker, Idris Elba, Matt Dillon,T.I., Zoe Saldana, Chris Brown and several other “hot and upcoming-actors!”
‘Takers’ will “open doors” to T.I. and CBreezy, that “music alone” can’t!
… And Trent, given the “volume, depth and breath of the chatter” regarding Chris’ recent BET performance, “yea or nay” it seems said “interest” can-only-add to the curiosity that “ALL ‘first-week’s openings’ will need!”

WTH Man – this is the third time they’ve done this!!! First it was August 17th, then August 24th, now it’s September 28th??? I know this is all bs from record exec’s but T.I. needs to stand up for his fans – this is the third time that I’ve stayed up till midnight to download this album.
So glad he’s back…although I have to say I feel a little mislead. Hopefully his album will straighten everything out. The last album was all…the old me’s dead and gone; live ya life; whatever you like; and don’t forget his show to save kids. Practically a changed man for the better, then he gets out of jail and he throws out “I’m Back”…don’t get me wrong I love the song but it seems like he was feeding us Paper Trail to change his image to lighten his sentence. Then he gets out of prison and he’s back to King style music. Which I love too – whatever, I’m just hoping to get a better idea when we get to hear this King Uncaged…when ever that will be.
T.I – If you read this, please at least release another single to get us by! Listen to the radio man, everything sounds exactly the same. Give us something to show them that the south really puts it down!!!
