rihanna HAD to change her image to sell more, pre GGGB era she was this innocent girl, not many hits, then she sexed her image up and started selling more, only singles, not albums, she has only sold 6 million albums between 4 million. Stans stay pressed that gaga has killed Rihanna’s career off with one album (yes one, only classed as a second album in the US) and you may say that gaga is stretching this album out, but if i’m rightly so 90% of GGGB album was released and had video’s made, plus a re-release. Just saying so you don’t come back to this with that s*** 🙂

Anyway, Rihanna has worked just as hard in this industry. The Girl has sold over 60million singles and 16million albums (if im not mistaken). All Of these artist use a “gimmick” of some sort and tho Rihanna is nothing different of the Gaga’s and Katy’s, She has proved herself to be very versitale and true to her art. Rated R was def a musical masterpiece that reflected her true life and story and was called one of the best pop albums of the year by many.
Rihanna can do something like Rated R and then go back to Her Dance-Pop Music because she is past that phase and she has set her spot in the industry already…..Gaga said herself she had to resort to Pop-Electro music to get people to listen to her music…because before she was doing punk-rock. soooo.

16 million albums? where the hell have you read that from. i’m on a bout the Billboard, and no i do not think America is the pinacle of the music industry but it garners the biggest sales, 6 million on that chart with 4 albums, for some one who can shift singles, she cannot sell albums, face it, people don’t like her, they just like the catchy poppy songs she releases. People will not go out their way to support her and buy her album, just listen to the odd catchy song of hers!

She Went a Totally different direction than the usual this album and thats usually what she does, When GGGB was out, there was nothing out like it, When Rated R was out there was nothing out like it….What Gaga is doing now Rihanna done did and she’s continuously progressing as an artist…..I Actually like that shes not the overrated pop singer of the moment..Gaga can have her shine for now until the next one comes along.

LOL, I’m not a Gaga stan, I’m just stating THE FACTS. Rihanna is a puppet, and changes her image according to whatever is guaranteed to sell records. Gaga already took the world by storm when Rated R came out, and at that point it just looked like Rihanna was trying to keep up by attempting to “out-edge” Gaga with the crazy outfits and crazy performance props. Considering how she can’t sing or perform well, Rihanna actually is overrated when there are artists who are waaaaaaaaaayyy more talented and creative than she is, yet don’t have her success.
Oh, and I don’t think there’s a single Gaga fan who’s pressed over Rihanna. Gaga has staying power because she has actual talent. When the crazy wigs and costumes become stale, Gaga can drop all of that and wow people with her singing and piano-playing skills. She’s likely to stay around for far longer than Ri-Ri, who on the other hand only has image to go on.
@MATT: I agree with everything that you have said. Rihanna is not a huge album seller, she is a singles artist. I am not even a Lady Gaga fan, but you can’t deny that the woman is doing her thing.
