After the generally positive response received from her single ‘25/8‘, Hip Hop Soul Queen Mary J. Blige has confirmed the name of its follow up, a Rico Love produced cut named ‘Mr. Wrong‘.
Lifted from her upcoming ‘My Life II‘ album, due out November 21st, Love gave further details just hours ago and explained why although he wrote the song for Mary, it is in many ways a song about himself.
More information below…
Speaking to RU, he admitted:
I wrote it because in many ways I am Mr. Wrong. It’s an extremely soulful song that expresses the true level of love that a woman can have for a man who simply is no good for her.
Responsible for five of the album’s tracks, he went onto reveal what fans can expect from it:
Basically I just tried to channel that classic Mary that we love, the ‘Not Gon’ Cry’ and ‘I’m Goin’ Down’—that type of emotion, along with just some fly, bounce Mary, the ‘You Remind Me’ vibe. I was trying to connect with that because that’s something that made me fall in love with her.
With ’25/8′ seemingly unable to provide Ms. Mary with a chart position worthy of a clap, snap or applause, there are some who question how its supporting album will fare upon its release.
However, taking her previous LP’s into account, Blige has always been and will hopefully remain and album based artist, often moving more copies than single led artists who though enjoy success on the Billboard Hot 100 fail to do so on the Billboard 200.
Either way, with or without a smash hit single, ‘My Life II‘ is destined to outsell Rihanna‘s release which is due out on the same day.
For as much as her Navy would like to deny it, if Ms. Fenty failed to achieve a #1 with ‘Loud‘ even with the aid of ‘Only Girl In The World‘ and ‘What’s My Name‘, the chances of scoring a number 1 with this album are very slim.
Almost as slim as a Destiny’s Child reunion tour occurring with all original members present.
Yes, including Farrah.
