Chris – who was convicted of assaulting the singer three years ago – visited her house in Los Angeles this week ahead of her interview with Oprah Winfrey.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “They are getting on really well at the moment and spent time catching up and relaxing.
“He’s watched clips of her interview with Oprah and seems to be touched.”
A section of the interview shows Rihanna in tears over the assault.
She said: “It was humiliating. It was a confusing space to be in because as angry as I was, I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help, and who’s going to help him?”
The 24-year-old singer ended her relationship with the Yeah 3x hitmaker in February 2009 after he assaulted her but still has fond memories of their time together, which began in late 2007.

Beyoncé is launching a campaign rallying for the U.N.’s annual celebration of humanitarian work, which encourages people to do good for others. The campaign is hoping to send the largest social media message in history.
“We all see the headlines and we think what can I really do to help,” Beyoncé said in a statement. “World Humanitarian Day is an opportunity for all of us to work together to make a difference. This is our time to leave our mark on the world and show that we were here and we care.”
Beyoncé is helping to launch the World Humanitarian Day website, which aims to reach 1 billion people in a single day — a pretty lofty goal. The website encourages people to share their acts of good by selecting to “show” their support and “share” their action on Twitter and Facebook.
“World Humanitarian Day celebrates humanitarian work,” Valerie Amos, U.N. Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs, said in a statement. “I hope everyone will pledge to complete at least one humanitarian action — however great or small — through [the campaign website].
The U.N. General Assembly first designated Aug. 19 as World Humanitarian Day in 2008, in memory of the 2003 attack on the U.N. offices in Baghdad, which killed 22 people.

(CNN) – Singer Beyonce, the United Nations and dozens of global aid groups have one message for the world Sunday: Perform a good deed, no matter how big or small, to help another person.
Sunday marks World Humanitarian Day, which honors those who face danger in helping others and also encourages people to volunteer or help someone in need.
Beyonce and aid organizations are trying to reach 1 billion people through social media for this year’s campaign, called “I Was Here.”
“‘I Was Here’ says I want to leave my footprints in the sands of time, and that is leaving our mark on the world,” Beyonce told CNN’s Anderson Cooper. “We all want to know that our life meant something, and that we did something for someone else, and that we spread positivity no matter how big or how small.”
The singer recorded a music video for the song “I Was Here,” which was performed at the U.N.’s General Assembly Hall. The video premieres Sunday on big screens in Dubai, Geneva, New York’s Times Square and other locations.
“This year’s World Humanitarian Day presents a historic opportunity to bring together 1 billion people from around the world to advance a powerful and proactive idea: people helping people,” U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in a statement.
“From international efforts to avert a hunger crisis in West Africa, to urgent assistance to civilians in Syria, to a single good deed from one neighbor to the next, the spirit of people helping people improves conditions for all,” Ban said.
The United Nations lists a variety of ideas for participating in World Humanitarian Day, such as making a sandwich for a homeless person, donating one’s skills to a community project and giving away an item you no longer use.
Four years ago, the U.N. General Assembly proclaimed August 19 as World Humanitarian Day to commemorate the 2003 Canal Hotel bombing in Baghdad that killed 22 U.N. staff members, the global body said.
But the dangers of international aid work continue today.
