I love it! Birthday is my fave track! Katy has done it once again ladies and gentleman! She’s the perfect example of letting your music speak for itself and not relying on gimmicks and nonsensical outlandish claims of being the greatest of all time (not naming any names…). This is going to be a SMASH! It might even outperform Teenage Dream! Go Katy!

Yawn. Katy’s fans stay saying Katy is about the music and Gaga is about the gimmicks and antics but how does this generic nonsense she’s serving represent GREAT music? Her music is forgettable and one dimensional. I don’t care who comes for me. Katy will never have modern memorable pop classics of the decade like Pokerface, Bad Romance, and Just dance. Rihanna and Gaga are the only popstars who make cutting edge and trendy music. Katy is always so lost in the sauce.
I definitely agree that Katy is not on the cutting edge of pop music. But she makes GREAT pop songs that are catchy and memorable, and a lot of the time they have meaningful messages (Wide Awake, Firework, Roar). She also writes most of her stuff, which I respect. I really liked Gaga during the Fame/Fame Monster eras when her music was really good and she didn’t feel the need to toot her own horn. She alienated me with the Born This Way era with her pretentiousness that she couldn’t back up with quality music. It seems like she is continuing that trend with Artpop, which is disappointing…But yes Rihanna (especially) and Gaga (less so nowadays) are certainly pushing the limits of what pop music is and should be.
That’s funny becuz all of Gaga’s albums have received critical praise especially born this way. Katy’s reviews on her albums are below average in comparison. It’s good Katy writes her own music but she’s really just fluff to me and never had the star power Gaga had, talent-wise and on a artistry tip. Of course there are lots of other artists that have better music than Gaga. I’m not saying Gaga’s albums are a masterpiece but the Grammys has considered it quality over Katy’s.
Fair enough. I see no lies, it’s just her arrogant attitude that irks me more than anything else. But yes I think her music is, generally speaking, of a higher quality than Katy’s. She’s also a talented pianist and a very strong vocalist as well.
Don’t feed into the hype. Lady Gaga is confident but not arrogant. She’s always praising other artists and her contemporaries and is very levelheaded.

Lmao it’s hard to take your opinion seriously when you stan for Gaga. Why cant you accept that Gaga will only be remembered for her gimmicks and shock tactics? Idk what radio stations you listen to but I Kissed A Girl, Hot N Cold, Firework, California Gurls, ET, and Wide Awake still get airplay on the stations I do. Just Dance is Gags’ most forgettable song and no one plays Bad Romance. The video is more memorable than the song (once again relying on gimmicks and image instead of music). You’re plan delusional if you don’t think Katy’s songs have more impact than Gags. And your opinion on “fluff” is irrelevant when Applause is the most generic thing to hit radio. Have a seat already, your rants are tired.

I live for the 90s elements, yasss!!!! People were scared she would do Teenage Dream 2.0. It sounds nothing like it. Everything is better: vocals, lyrics, production, sales. By the Grace of God is already my favorite! I cannot wait for her to bring those ballads to life with acoustic sets. This will be the album of the year. Bookmark this.
