Katy Perry has done it again.
The Pop force has raced to the top the charts and crossed the finish line with latest single ‘Dark Horse‘.
Details after the jump…
The Juicy J assisted cut galloped #2-#1 on the Billboard 200 this week, becoming the singer’s ninth release to hit the coveted top spot.
‘Horse’, which fuses elements of Pop and Trap, was pegged as quite the risqué release for the often formulaic star. It’s a gamble that’s clearly paid off, though.
Speaking on the impressive feat, Perry told Billboard:
“This No. 1 is the most unexpected one I’ve ever had. ‘Dark Horse’ has been a dark horse of a song, since August when the KatyCats voted to release it early on iTunes, before ‘PRISM’ even came out. I’m so thrilled and grateful to have these moments.”
Kudos to Katy! Granted the song is easily her most inauthentic yet (as evidenced by the uber uncomfortable performances she’s given of it), she makes generally inoffensive music that has clearly found support from a large sect of the record buying public. So, more power to her.
