As they gear up for the release of their Marilyn Monroe biopic, ‘Lifetime‘ has unveiled the actors enlisted to portray Missy Elliott and Timbaland in their forthcoming Aaliyah movie.

Announced after singer/actress Zendaya parted ways with the movie, Chattrisse Dolabaille and Izaak Smith‘s arrival on the movie has already sparked some controversy for reasons that are pretty obvious when images of Missy and Timbo are placed next to the image above.

So, let us know…

What do you make of ‘Lifetime’s latest move?

Well we ALL know who LIL KIM will want to do her movie with…

    • theymad August 9, 2014

What does lil kim have to do with this? Like stop trying to bash her..The jokes are old and tired…say something bout the post

      • _taylormvde August 9, 2014

old and tired just like kim lol …

    • Mark111 August 9, 2014

The day I stop paying attention to Kim was the day she said that Christina Millan should had played her in that Biggie film. The delusion.

      • Fancy BISH August 9, 2014

“[The] whole point and the matter of the fact [is that] I should’ve got to pick the girl that played me. And not necessarily Christina Milian or whoever else, but she could’ve damn sure played it better than that girl and I know that because Christina is my friend. But at the end of the day, that’s not who I would’ve picked. I wouldn’t have picked Chrisitina Milian to be honest with you. I wouldn’t have picked a known actress. I would’ve went to Brooklyn [and] had a casting call to be honest with you. Because there is nobody who could’ve pulled off that Lil’ Kim-Brooklyn feeling besides a Brooklyn girl who grew up in Brooklyn and knows what that’s like. That’s what I would’ve done.”

        – Lil Kim

  2. Yea ok August 9, 2014

Twinkie Byrd is in charge of casting and all I think now is she don’t know what in the world she doing cuz this don’t make no sense. I’m officially OVER this movie. I don’t even think I get the lifetime channel anyway.
Zendaya told us the production is a mess and that’s why she dropped out. Smart girl.

    • Janet4Ever August 9, 2014

No. Zendaya left because she knew everyone would hate her if she did the role against Aaliyah’s mom’s wishes. She isn’t big enough to risk that kind of backlash so she pulled out for that reason NOT because of production.

When it comes to these two actors, all I have to say is that black people better wake up and see that the only time mainstream wants to see us is when we we are fair and almost white. Missy and Timbaland have a distinct look so I want to know how and why these two were picked.

      • ~The Arcade~ August 9, 2014

Everything you’ve stated is absolutely correct, black people need to wake up! There’s even an uproar against the new film ‘EXODUS’ where there are 5 token black supporting actors in the movie and the roles they gave them, basically swayed towards a more indirect hatred for black people. I say we MUST BOYCOTT the films, cos… WOW JUST WOW, I’m at a lost for words.

      • janet1814 August 9, 2014

Zendaya was told if she didn’t drop out they were going to fire her, as the backlash against her playing the role was so fierce. It’s no coincidence that they found a replacement so quickly or that Wendy was asked to join the project when she was one of the people saying Zendaya was wrong for the part.

  3. MadameBey August 9, 2014

They really hate chocolate skin don’t they. The only way this movie will slay is if it realises how important skin tone is to black people (rightly or wrongly) and how Aaliyah’s and Missy’s skin tone helped to push black beauty in the 90s alongside Brandy, Janet and Toni.
These things are important, because you would NEVER cast a chocolate girl to play Beyonce would you?

    • the voice August 9, 2014

Hollywood hates dark skins almost as much as male rappers and male r&b singers.

It was Beyonce (a female) who decided to put Jordan Dunn and other black models in her video.

Black hollywood needs to stand up to this racist mess and stop coonin themselves

I’m lookin at u too Pharrell

i will not watch this mess

      • former rihanna stan August 9, 2014

Rihanan and beyonce don’t seem to like dark skin people. Like, they don’t really hang or date them.

  4. BeyRihLiyah August 9, 2014

life time is full of shiit they are making a mockery out of Aaliyah , her family and friends and Most Importantly her LEGACY !!!!! I hate how they are doing baby girl

  5. BadGyalRita August 9, 2014

    • BeyRihLiyah August 9, 2014

      • CATFISH CAREY August 9, 2014

WHY THE FUUCK WOULD COMMENTS WITH TWO ACCOUNTS LOL YOU ARE WORSE THAN ISTANFORYOURFAV BUT OH WELL KEEP DOING YOUR THING BABY BOO

      • CATFISH CAREY August 9, 2014

        WOULD YOU COMMENT*

  6. MeAddict August 9, 2014

So they finna have that lady rocking wet look and the outfits Missy wore in her old videos without her looking like a fool? There’s no need to flatter real people when your casting actors for them in their movies because the point is to be as accurate as possible. If I’m overweight and you’re doing a movie about me I don’t want you to cast a skinny person because me being overweight is a part of my experience and affects the way I respond to people and see the world around me.

All I’m basically trying to say is that this movie needs to go for accuracy if they want it to be taken seriously. Missy was chocolate and overweight and Timbo was light and overweight and a big part of the reason Missy struggled is BECAUSE of that weight (look at why they didn’t put her in the Raven Symone video) so how can they cast somebody who is slim.

  7. ~The Arcade~ August 9, 2014

You know, I said I wasn’t going to say anything negative until I clicked the link………….. 😐 <<< *blank/ angry face* YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!!!

  8. Mark111 August 9, 2014

Umm, something isn’t right and hy something I mean this whole damn project.

    • BeyRihLiyah August 9, 2014

if their is a perfect time for tim and missy and Rashad to speak up it is now this is a mockery life time is trying to f**** up Aaliyah’s legacy!

  9. biting truth August 9, 2014

That guy looks believable enough to play Tim, but is THAT supposed to be Missy? ROFLMAO! Yeah, okay…

  10. ~The Arcade~ August 9, 2014

I don’t know what’s worse; between Zoe Saldana cast as Nina Simone or this…

  11. Dossome August 9, 2014

Wow,if that is Missy then Lifetime could as well cast Celine and Chris Brown to play Whitney and Bobby

    • the voice August 9, 2014

      lol

  12. Rosie August 9, 2014

You guys know Calvin Harris is refusing to let Rita perform that one song he did for her, right?

  13. idgi August 9, 2014

    • You Stupid August 9, 2014

      LMAO

  25. Stav August 9, 2014

This movie isn’t about Tim and Missy, so being as accurate as possible where their looks and personality are concerned isn’t that necessary, since chances are their characters will be in few scenes with limited dialogue. The focus here is Aaliyah.

This reminds me of the Temptations miniseries and how Tammy Terrell was played by an actress darkerskined than she was, and how Diana Ross was played by a very light skinned actress, but they were only on screen for a minute do it didn’t matter.

  26. MISHKA August 9, 2014

“What do you make of ‘Lifetime’s latest move?”

    Nothing, Thatgrapejuice.

Let’s just wait for the movie. At least those brothers & sisters are getting some shine and some coins.

  27. ratedxxx August 9, 2014

    ahahahahahahahahahahahaahaha

what on earth does these two people have to do with Missy and Timb?

missy was so much heavier and darker back then when Aaliyah was alive

    ahahahahahahahaah

let the poor woman rest…lifetime sucks donkey balls anyway, with all the bad acting and such

  28. ratedxxx August 9, 2014

so how is this a bio when the people in the movie don’t even look like the people the movie is about

at least the movie is not going to be on BET..not that BET is better than lifetime..both are garbage to me..

but ummm, who picked those actors..fire their azzes.

  29. Jem August 9, 2014

Lifetime please STOP in the name of good television! You continue to embarrass yourselves with these biopics that you can’t get families and friends of these stars to cosign on. Go back to writing original movies and telling real life stories of women who were abused, family drama and solving crime shows! You all can’t even do proper casting for crying out loud. If these artistes are smart they sign off with their record companies on who gets the rights to do their biopics while they are alive.

  30. EnRanc August 9, 2014

Headshot photos don’t always tell the real story of how celebrities actually look. On the shallow surface, that actress looks completely atypical of Missy and seems lightskinned and thin, but I’ve seen pictures of Jill Scott and Kelly Price that made them look 30 lbs and three shades lighter too. I’m pretty sure Missy herself has publicity photos of her in heavy makeup, standing under soft/bright lighting that were airbrushed to the point of her not looking like her. Let’s just wait and see before we start playing Ebert.

  31. Anne August 9, 2014

Okay so I didn’t see a problem with either of the picks for Aaliyah but they are getting ridiculous now with these latest selections. I would have expected Wendy to speak up on this. Aaliyah was light skinned, pretty and petite so either Zendaya or Alex would work (as long as they can act and dance) but Missy was dark skinned and overweight and she proved that her talent was so strong that none of that mattered. She was able to make it big despite the fact that she did not fit society’s idea of beauty and regardless of her features, she was ‘supafly.’ Can this actress capture that? And this guy looks too clean cut to play Timbaland. These two will really have to be a couple of great actors in order to make us forget the differences in their physical images and think of them as the characters they have to portray. I hope they can manage to do so.

  32. Brian310 August 9, 2014

I’m hoping Ms. Diane has something up her sleeve to shut this doen like she was able to shut things down before, he’ll if she nerds the fans help we got her back!

    • Brian310 August 9, 2014

      *down, hell, needs*

  33. CzarM August 9, 2014

The guy is fine. I mean yeah he’s ‘cleaner’ looking than the real Tim, but he’s not such a contrast that you can’t suspend disbelief for the sake of TV. The actress they cast for Missy though is a jarring contrast that is all wrong. She’d be better suited to play Aaliyah’s mother.

  34. eric August 10, 2014

This is really sad. It shows that they have zero integrity and it makes the concerns from Aaliyah’s mom and brother valid. Lifetime gets no respect from me.

  35. Dito August 12, 2014

This movie should be stopped Alexandria Shipp don’t look like Aaliyah! neither do theses canadians look like Missy or Tim. Aaliyah was so f*cking beautiful!Get an actress as beautiful or more to play aaliyah or don’t do this movie at all!
