Rihanna may not have any creative direction over her music, but that hasn’t stopped the Pop puppet from being tapped by Puma.
The sports giant today confirmed the swirling speculation: RiRi is their new creative director.
Via Vogue:
{The singer will oversee} direction of the womenswear line, and will join famous sportsmen including Usain Bolt and Mario Balotelli as a brand ambassador. The singer arrived at the company’s headquarters in Germany yesterday and had her first creative meeting with the design team.
A multi-year partnership, the deal will see Ms. Fenty take a “hands-on approach,” working on Puma’s fitness and training collections across apparel as well as shoes.
She will, the report adds, “work with the company to design and customise classic Puma styles as well as create new styles to add to the Puma product portfolio”.

Anyone that can be as spin mediocre talent into such lucrative opportunities deserves congrats.
Must say, though, the parallels between this and Beyonce’s new deal with Topshop are uncanny. However, the fact Ri’s rival has actual ownership in her partnership won’t do anything to help the nagging claims that she remains ever a step behind.
Being the fair and unbiased voice we are, though, we feel it imperative to celebrate great achievements and great this is!
