The accolades and honors continue to pour in for comeback queen Janet Jackson.

After a brief break, the diva’s ‘Unbreakable World Tour’ is back on the road thrilling audiences.

Presently wrapping up its first US leg, the trek’s latest stop was in Minneapolis – a city with much history for the ‘BURNITUP!’ belter.

Longtime collaborator’s Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis hail from the area and together with Jackson created four of her most renown albums there (‘Control,’ ‘Rhythm Nation,’ ‘.janet,’ and ‘The Velvet Rope.’)

In many ways, then, the star’s show at the Target Center last night was a homecoming of sorts and the city’s mayor made sure it was one to remember.

See what we mean below…

Surprising Janet at the end of the concert, Betsy Hodges praised the performer and officially declared November 1st 2015 ‘Janet Jackson Day.’

The presentation comes on the heels of Jackson’s chart-topping debut with new album ‘Unbreakable’ and announcement as a nominee in the 2016 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

I Respect it, Janet is a LEGEND an ICON and deserves all of her accolades. However, imma need TGJ to stop because Janet Jackson isn’t anyone’s “Belter”. She ain’t belted a note her entire career, please stop with the undeserving tittles.

Janet Jackson is highly under-rated. She is the Queen of the music video. Her pleasure Principle video has set the standard for Dance Videos to this day and has not been matched.

She is indeed an Icon who paved the way for Beyonce, Rihanna, Ciara, Britney and all the other divas.

While her team should have videos done sooner for the iconic single Burn it up and BROKEN HEARTS HEAL. This cd could be a monster if they promote the singles.

      • Pat November 2, 2015

You can’t be iconic and under-rated at the same time! Guh how old are you?

      • Tracy November 2, 2015

Where is the hot video for her new song?

    • truth(Janet is QWEEN, MaDINOSAUR is a flop! Deal!) November 2, 2015

    • Nirrad November 2, 2015

Hater….. JANET is a great vocalist. She doesn’t have to yell to the top of her lungs to prove anything to anyone. GTFOH

      • What now November 2, 2015

Girl stop reaching and quit being delusional. Janet can not sing and is far from a vocalist.

    • obsidian November 2, 2015

A singer doesn’t have to belt a note in order to be a good singer; a GOOD singer effectively uses whatever GOD gave them, and THAT my friend, is what Janet does very well! I highly suggest you take a look at Janet’s live performance of “I Get So Lonely” on the Rosie O’donnell show. You wI’ll not be dissapointed!

    • r November 2, 2015

Well we all know Janet isn’t a vocalist but lets not act like Control, RN1814 and Janet wasn’t responsible for alot of the 90’s R&B harmonies and melodies.

    ICONET!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. WOW! November 2, 2015

  6. dee November 2, 2015

I have never seen lack of promotion or interest from an artist to support their music. Where is second single or video?

    • truth(Janet is QWEEN, MaDINOSAUR is a flop! Deal!) November 2, 2015

The 2nd single, Unbreakable is number 16 on the rnb charts hun. Relax

  7. King Stephy November 2, 2015

Haters gon’ hate. Werk Miss Jackson! Congrats! #Legend

The Queen! The album is amazing. The lyrics are so deep and powerful. It’s the truth. Unbreakable really changed my life and the true follow up of The Velvet Rope. Although I like All For You, some of Jo, the first 4 songs on 20yo and Discipline was fine, it just wasn’t Janet because she had no input on it.
    .
I don’t care for quick promo, o want it to be spread out the next two years. Janet knows her audience. She been listening…

    • Royalkev November 2, 2015

Well said and I feel the same as you do, real fans understand Janet’s promotion with this album. Nothing needs to be rushed, everything is calculated and will be worthwhile. I agree Unbreakable is TVR’s follow-up. I really liked ‘Discipline’, but ‘Unbreakable’ feels like more of a “real Janet Jackson album” to me than the last 3 before it.

    • Tracy November 2, 2015

I really love this cd, on first listen i was a little harsh. Here are the gems:

      1. Broken Hearts Heal – yes i know its her love letter to Michael Jackson, but its such an incredible song, it really is.
      2. The great forever – such an great big song reminds me of Escapade, the video if done right would be WOW
      3. Should have know better – this is the song the fans like its like part 2 to Rhy. Nation – the message soars

After you fall is very lets wait awhile but the message goes to all the haters – the nasty lil gays on this site

      — THE NASTY LIL ANGRY G_A_Y_s WHO POST NASTY HATEFUL COMMENTS – your time is coming — whose gonna be there for you??? you don’t have 1.3 million people on your side like Janet.

  9. Chile, leave my weave at the door and don’t steal it like those broke ass barb stans November 2, 2015

OMG! Yes! This is what she needs! A true queen gets her own day. I can’t wait to see her slay those Stadium dates in Japan. I love my black women!

  10. Royalkev November 2, 2015

So grateful to see Janet getting her flowers now! She’s put in the work and made so many masterpiece albums and put together several truly iconic tours. JJ’s a big part of our Pop culture (as we know it), she deserves every accolade she is given.

  11. Lover of music November 2, 2015

Aww..that is so sweet! Reminds me of when Rihanna was in South Africa and the media and everybody was calling it Rihanna day.

    • Lea November 2, 2015

      Gul you tried it!

    • Tracy November 2, 2015

WHO? riri? shes a model now? Rihanna is washed up and tired.

Its only so much auto-tune can do for a voice, just ask Jlo who only has dance singles now?

      I don’t know her.

      • Lover of music November 2, 2015

All what you wrote still doesnt change the fact that they called it Rihanna day,, whether you know her or you dont,,whether she is washed-up or not!!!

  12. Barb-wire November 2, 2015

    Legend JJ!!!

  13. Renzo585 November 2, 2015

    Queen! Love Janet well deserved

  14. #TeamTinashe Stan November 2, 2015

She deserves it! And people need to stop talking about artists vocals not attributing their success. Does that even make sense? Janet and many other women in music didn’t need to scream to come off as impressive. They were creative and people gravitated to their voices as it was different and it did give you a special feeling.

  15. Like a prayer November 2, 2015

OMG THE DEULSION IS TOO MUCH. YALL GOT ME GAGGING IN MY CLASS. TRANET AINT NOT DAMN BELTER! FAR FROM IT. IF TRANET IS A BELTER THAN TAYLOR SWIFT OS THIS GENERATIONS WHITNEY HOUSTON AND TRANET IS NOT A VOCALIST. SHE WHISPERS ON ALL HER TRACKS AND SHES BE critiqued by her lack of vocals for years

    • Tracy November 2, 2015

      PLEASE GAG AND CHOKE, HATER.

      ANOTHER ANGRY GAY

  16. Like a prayer November 2, 2015

A belter is Aretha, Whitney, Marian, Patti and beyonce. Janet hasn’t sung above a whisper all her career. If She such a better why has she never did the star spangle banner? That’s a challenging songs for real vocalist and belters. Not lip synching t*****.

    • Tracy November 2, 2015

Aretha, Celine, Mariah, Whitney are songbirds, Janet is more in the vein of Michael Jackson.

She has paved the way for every dance diva on the charts – Beyonce, ciara, britney etc…

  17. coolness November 2, 2015

Good for her!!! Properly discovering Janet a few years back was one of my fondest musical memories and it’s great to see her receiving so much love and support this time around. The woman is a certified game-changer and if not for a certain event that took place 11 years ago, which was a clear-cut display of s*xism and racism in America, we won’t even be discussing her receiving props.
