Wyclef Jean is the latest name to fall foul of public favour in today’s climate of race debate.
The former Fugees front man took to Twitter to share a song, video, and message to mark Martin Luther King Day. Yet, his approach has seen him dragged through the mire on the social media site.
Full story below…
Writing on his page, Jean shared the clip with the caption:
Martin Luther King Jr. fought because all lives matter.

********
This incensed many – especially those irked by how “all lives matter” is routinely used as an auto-respect of sorts to the Black Lives Matter movement.
Jean has yet to reply to the comments, which is little surprise because they are plentiful (and increasingly by the minute. Here’s what folk are saying…
Kii…
Black Twitter is so darn childish and distracts people from real social issues as a Black race. All Lives Matter tweets are so 2016. Why is Black Twitter responding to 2017 tweets about All Lives Matter?
First comment is always the dumbest on this site. doesn’t matter if 2016 was 2 weeks ago; the issue is still alive now, and Black Lives STILL Matter.
On site. We will see who the dumbest is. You weak illiterate pvssy.
Bitvh snatch the wig off yo sour puussssy! Thats stupid ass comment u made. Ho!
Yes, but ‘All Lives Matter’ More.
sigh.
Fake out rage
Stares in complete
Black girl confusion
Lmao ?
The only remarkable thing he did with his career was jumping into hips don’t lie. Now the cheques are crumbling, the idiot has to remind us he is alive.
Stupid moron!
Did all lives matter when promising black men were shot to death in broad daylight, when the constitution supposed to protect them basically does nothing as innocent people are murdered and imprisoned unjustly.
To not dare to twist the word of the great Martin Luther you shameless Haiti criminal.
The fact that he’s Haitian make things even worse.
Nothing wrong with what he said. We all need to help and treat each other with respect. Was anybody mad when Michael wrote “We Are the World” as a call for unity and us standing together with the attitude that all lives matter? The power to make our lives matter is in our own hands. We can start with ending gun violence and gang activity and start promoting education as the powerful weapon it is if we truly want to demonstrate the value of black lives. People would rather point the finger at whites as if they’re the ones who can fix our communities. It starts with us!!
White cop kills black suspect: everyone loses their minds
Blacks kills other blacks in Chicago: no one cares
Priorities be like
I don’t know what his reasoning for just blatantly tweeting that when no one was even talking about it. However, stop being dumb most these celebs are not going to just promote black lives matter without referencing everyone. IThese people have jobs and they are smart and looking out for THEMSELVES. I work for a corporate Fortune 500 company and if I went in there saying black lives matter, I would get pulled into the office by my supervisor and she is black. I’ understand the black lives matter movement but some folks are just walking contradictions. I’m sure he meant well. I like all kinds of people and some of my family is white and Irish by marriage. I don’t think vblack of white people realize how racist they are. I’m black and I’m proud but I also view everyone equally. No race above the other in my eyes.
I hate these black lives matter c u n ts.Black lives must not matter much sense your black children are being gunned down by other blacks.
What a mess
